I don't have a problem with that statement.

Perhaps unrelated, but I asked in another post if the word divorce should be said in a relationship, and was surprised how many people said no. My thought is that if it's not spoken about, does that just lead to a bunch of really surprised people who get hit with divorce? This post proves the answer is yes. Sadly. :( I'm sorry man, I wish you the very best. You got this! :)

Not interested in being insulted. Thanks for your opinion though. Respectfully, I disagree. Clearly.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with this because , as a man, I've used this speech. Now I will grant you that, yes, it is a huge warning sign, but it is not because I am incapable of being happy, nor am I looking for my wife to sacrifice a bunch of shit to give me moments of excitement. That's kinda narrow minded. Here's the deal and it ain't rocket science. Outside of the typical addictions, physical abuse etc...we are simple creatures who want to feel loved, respected, desired. That's it. …

From a feelings perspective, I sound exactly like your wife and you sound similar to my wife. I haven't yet called it but I think I will. If you're looking for more of my perspective, happy to chat. Actually, might be good for me to understand more of your perspective if you're willing to offer.

If you're really looking for perspective, listening to others who were not the initiator won't do you any good. People leave because there are things in their partner they cannot live with, and they don't see that behaviour ever changing. As for getting an answer... You probably won't. They've already tried to tell you in their own way. They are beyond frustrated that you didn't hear the message, and if they are at the point of divorce they don't see any reason to bash it out again. It can also …

If I did it all over again, I'd probably try to focus more on myself for the first 30-35 years of my life than get married at 25 to only the second person I was serious with. I would also be far more assertive about getting what I need out of a relationship. I was passive and paid for it because I didn't know what marriage was supposed to look like. Long story short, don't put up with shit for more than a few months and get help the minute something goes beyond that. If it doesn't change after a…

After two decades of therapy, without any meaningful change, I'd agree.

We went to couples and individual therapy for the better part of our entire marriage. 21 years. Nothing has changed on either of our parts. I'm calling it later this month.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Like am I finally pulling the trigger because I'm financially better off than I was before? No. I was fine before and am fine now. I'm pulling the chute because I have more clarity, purpose, self confidence, and drive than I did before.

That's awesome!!! I'm sincerely happy you are living your best life. I hope to find the same.

This makes me feel better. I am pulling the chute this month after 21 years. She is a good person, just not a good marriage partner for me. Scared as hell TBH. I've put this off for far too long.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
