Look from personal experience I had an abortion when I was 23. My ex convinced me to abort. I never thought I could get an abortion, especially not as an adult with a job. I was fully ready to raise the kid by myself and completely liberate him of any responsibility. But he conviced me. He told me "I'd rather die than be a father" so I did it. Depends where you live. I hate the therm. Makes you think there's something wrong with masculinity even if it's not the point. Partially true. There's a gap largely due to the fact that typical "women's jobs" are underpaid. Personal support workers, teachers, educators..... all those who care for others basically. I make more than them with my office job and shouldn't. Depends where you live. They are. But so are women in other ways. It's not a competition.

I think in general we should avoid thinking people are doing it for attention. It sucks waking up from a failed attempt and going "well fuck I thought I was done with this. Guess I suck at this too." The last thing you need is someone telling your or making you feel like you didn't actually want to die. Also, people need to be able to get help and support when suicidal. Having that whole stigma about the attention grabbing doesn't help people open up.

I get it. That said I've been hospitalized a few times for bipolar and in the hospital I also met guys who clearly attempted for attention. It's not just girls. And thank you for trying to break away from it. So easy to let the anger fill you and put an entire gender in the same boat. I found child porn in my ex's phone.... I see pedophilia everywhere and definitely still have a gender bias I'm working on. Keep on keeping on.

Saudi Arabia is the most extreme example that comes to mind. Look, I'm Canadian. Couldn't be luckier and I wouldn't change my country. That said there are still plenty of issues women face even here. Young girls (children and teens) being sexualised as hell for example.

Yes you're probably right. Men bottling up their feelings for sure doesn't help. That said the part about women doing it as a cry for help, there probably are some but I think this overshadows women who actually want to die. Those exist and the pain is just as real. Plus they don't have makeup and hair to save the day. I'm a solid 4 when I wake up but a 7 when I go out and decide to put make up on. Guys don't have that option. That said the compliments I get wearing make up aren't real compliments and actually make me more self conscious.

The suicide part I find touchy tho. More women attempt but a lot more men succeed. Some might reduce us to attention seeking whores and dismiss our emotions but I believe both genders get the "Mal de vivre" just as much. Men tend to be more practical and hit the shed and hang/gun themselves. Women tend to try overdosing and cutting.

Lots of women are actually joining trades as they realise they can make more money with less education. I'd tell my younger self to be an electrician. My field used to be mostly male but in college we were almost 50/50.... But even if women tend to go for certain fields and men others... I don't see how that's an issue?
