You're proposing the possibility that she's just misinformed. That she didn't maliciously finger the guy as a rapist (I got jokes), but that she was simply mistaken about the definition of rape. If that's true, I'm saying that the real problem is therefore that the ever-expanding definition of rape is what led to her misinformation.

Isn't the bigger problem that she somehow (/s) got the idea that this was rape?

Nah, warning others will be useless. People in their early 20s are incredibly short-sighted and anti-authoritarian. They either won't believe you, or perceive the events you're speaking of as too far away to ever materialize the way you say, hoping instead for some nebulous chain of events to happen between now and then that will allow them to have everything they want, exactly as they want it. That's just the plight of the current short-sighted 20-something American. Combine that with the wall …

From James Watson's book, it appears Rosalind Franklin held a key piece of evidence and he had to absolutely pester her to get a look at it. It doesn't seem like she did any of the thinking that helped integrate all the small hints of evidence they had into the full model of DNA. But apparently her x-ray diffraction work was very, very good and that's why they sought her out for it.

if one (or more) of the parties involved felt violated When alcohol affects someone's judgement to a significant degree This isn't an answer, but it does well to highlight the problem. Both of these things are wildly subjective. What someone ends up "feeling" is more a product of their individual personalities, not the situation. And knowing when someone's judgement is "significantly" affected is impossible unless you're dealing with people are aren't even buzzed (not affected) or who are fallin…

I think you need to think about the long game with things like these. Remember that no single action determines what someone thinks of you. If you combine this type of response with a set of other behaviors that demonstrate you are busy, then that's the impression they walk away with. Now I'm not saying the impression is built up over days or anything like that, but in those early moments when someone is trying to get a fix on you, you will unknowingly demonstrate a range of several behaviors th…

I need to point this out because I see a bunch of people do this in all sorts of arguments and it bugs the hell out of me. When someone says something to the extent of, "This group tends to behave this way," or "Most members of group X engage in Y behavior," you aren't saying anything by proclaiming that you aren't one of those people. If I tell you that 90% of redditors are neckbeards, it literally makes no sense for you to shout, "Well I'm not one so you're wrong!" No sense. It's okay to gener…

The boy-men of the subreddit should stop being so butthurt by this evaluation and learn to live with it. You aren't your own person if you're living in your parents' house. You lack a level of control over your life that independent men have in theirs. Period. Alpha has everything to do with control. Women want men who have the capacity to control their environments. Girls may settle for less.

I remember that exchange. I was actually confused about what he thought you should reel in. So I went into your comment history to try to find the original comment, and instead got reminded that yesterday you replied this to me: Scientific journals are not objective because the experiments and statistics can be easily manipulated to get the result that the scientist wants. Many journals have been accused of publishing such studies. When I tried to tell you that documentaries are the biased garba…

Then how does any science work? How have we made any advancements? How come we aren't still dying at 30 years old? How does medicine work? Are you serious with this argument? What you are talking about is deviations from the norm, RARE deviations. In the event that fabricated data is published, we have a really great way of knowing that it's fabricated. It's called IT DOESN'T WORK. If no one can replicate you results, then it's as if your results never happened. Regardless of what we "want." And…

Scientific journal articles are very objective. Reading the studies that those statistics were derived from and taking time to decide if the methods used were suitable or flawed, that would be objective. If you don't believe in objectivity, then you are the one that needs to question your beliefs.

Personally, I despise documentaries. They aren't objective looks into subjects so much as the agenda of the filmmaker and cherry-picked statistics. I don't bother with any political documentaries. But what documentaries are superbly good at is creating emotion. You think they are there to give you information, but it's the emotion that makes them powerful. The only thing a documentary is good for is making you feel good about the beliefs you already hold. not changing your mind. Unless it's some…

Guys, guys. The fundamental flaw here (other than reading into a fictional comedy sketch) is the inability to recognize that females and males see opposite sex encounters differently. Females don't jump to sex as soon as males do. That's the whole point of this sub right? How to get her to go from, "I don't mind him around," to "I need to be in bed with him" right? Besides, if she wants my genes to make a baby isn't that more in line with RPT? As someone in medicine, I can definitely say there are very highly competent women in the field who I would have no trouble trusting with my life. The ones I'm thinking of, I can't see them doing anything you mentioned. Keep in mind you're in a first aid course. As far as the medical totem pole goes, that's the very bottom rung. There aren't a lot of states left that still take common law marriage seriously. And I'm gonna have to ask where you got that 6 month number because that's ridiculous, even for politicians. As far as child support, it serves a purpose. Deadbeat dads are a big problem. Mothers misappropriating child support funds is also a big problem. I think a reasonable solution is to have child support go into a separate fund that is in trust for the child. The paying parent's payments then go toward things t…

I don't agree with the future actions. There's no going back. We're in this world now. Our main problem is that when the old institution of marriage and husband/wife roles were destroyed, they weren't replaced with anything. It was just, "This is bad, let's do away with it," and it was done away with. That type of solution to a problem (and yeah, the old roles may have indeed been a problem) NEVER works. It's analogous to the mess in Egypt, where the people just keep overthrowing everything with…

I've had friends who I've gone drinking with who seemingly remained at the peak of their mental capacity, retained all their wit, and barely slurred or staggered claim the next day that they didn't remember a thing and were blackout drunk. So what's your solution? Not have sex with anyone who is drinking any alcohol? That's going to eliminate a huge number of sexual options. I don't think anybody cares about the reasons here. I don't care if it's socioeconomic status that determines crime, not race. Indeed, she has tried to make sure that I'm into her many times over. She has tried to present the worst of herself because she is afraid of me finding something out later and then deciding it's not for me. But, by worst, I mean stories of her past. Her demeanor is submissive, agreeable, understanding. I don't think I'll ever let her feel secure enough to feel like she's in control because I have too much going on for her to ever be the center of my world. What are some of the risks you see?

To be perfectly clear about expectations, statistical research will never produce cause and effect results. It is purely observational in nature. The only thing we can observe is the effect. The effect we're looking at is sentencing. We're trying to see if there is a statistically significant difference between the way men and women are sentenced. If there is, then there is. It says only little about why that is.

I'm always cautious when I see some studies finding the effect and other studies not finding the effect. This is not the same as one study finding an effect and the other study finding an opposite effect. Low power is the primary suspect when a study fails to find an effect. The lower the power, the higher the likelihood that you'll miss the effect. Low power is often a limitation in studies like these. However, low power does not lend itself to finding false positives. It's primarily a problem …

Nah no harm. I'm sure it will be a learning experience. But I think he's making the same huge mistake that a lot of women make in that they think what they're saying matters more than how, when, and why they're saying it. It's whiney because there are no realistic measures you can take to change them. You aren't informing anyone of something they don't know. I'm for lessening the BP examples. Because that's what's turning this place into a circle-jerky psuedo-cringepics style sub. And honestly, it makes you all look like a bunch of gossipy girls. Better yet, keep your BP examples but have them only be submittable by text post. This allows the poster to identify the many points of contrast in his/her example to TRP, so that we can learn why it is so, so good of an example of what not to do as opposed to having the quick one-liner as your headline. An…

Hey, I'm interested in your story. I'd mainly like to know a few specific things you did to re-frame, because I think I'm there now with my live-in LTR. I definitely caught this one with my alpha traits, and I think she's a good RPW, but I may be shitting the bed because I'm in med school now and no longer very entertaining while home studying all the time. I'd like to bust out some quality game with the little time we do have together, but don't know where to start really. If you could either p…

Wow how timely. I've been feeling the exact same way. I've realized that MR is just the response to the weird internet feminism and is therefore borne if it. One thing we can do is stop appropriating the SJW language and tactics. Dont utter the word "shame" as a verb and never appeal to authortity to solve your problems for you. And that's just a basic start.

I'm going to go against the typical advice given here and say two things: 1.) Get mad, don't be docile and 2.) Don't appeal to a higher authority like your teacher. I've been noticing and have gotten increasingly turned off by this place because not only does it more and more seem to just be a reaction to the other side, but it has also appropriated the other side's tactics. Not only will this not work, but it's not the right thing to do. In fact, I want to put #2 in the overall category of don'…

Of course it's about facts. You fucking idiot. Do you know what the fact is right here? It's that making someone defensive by being a complete asshole is NOT how you win them over to your side.

This is a good point, one that I have in mind whenever I engage in a serious argument. You're talking to one person who is stubborn enough in their ways to be loud about it (just like you), but you've got potentially dozens if not hundreds of others also reading what you say. Talk to them without them knowing it.

What that says is that you're ready to accept information based mostly on who gives it to you, not your own critical evaluation of the information itself.

That wasn't for you. That was for the people using the "disagree" button. The former spits in the overwhelming reality's face that nearly all sexual-assault is not committed in an alley with a knife. It's people that were trusted, and people who would not call themselves 'rapists.' We can't say "nearly all." It's 38% of rapists who are friends or aquaintences. The report also states that nearly 2/3 (so less than 66%) of rapes are committed by someone "known to the victim." The highest number is …

You know, I'm glad you're here because I have serious questions about this that I know will get buried in the feminist subreddits. I've seen the "avoiding risk" angle get belittled and mocked by people like you (only using "like you" because I don't know what to actually people who share your opinion as a group, not meaning it in a "you people" or pejorative sort of way). Maybe you can help me understand what sets it apart. The traffic accident analogy is a bad one. A very good analogy, however,…

He is part of the problem. A LARGE part. People often overlook that the majority of troubling trends aren't equally maintained and propelled forward by all the perpetrators. Rather, there are a very select few that take the lion's share of the blame. And he's one of them. What he's guilty of is perpetuating the trend of hypersensitization in America. Looks like he got burned by the fire he keeps stoking.

That type of blind idealism could have gotten him put away for much longer. Yes, blame the justice system, but don't blame banks OR his lawyer. Blame the system for allowing someone to be convicted on so little evidence. Banks and co. were smart enough to realize he didn't stand a chance in front of a jury.

Speaking from personal experience, the gifted and talented group I was in while in grade school had an even split or popular to non-popular for BOTH genders. It's a small sample size of about 12 total, but I'd still put it a notch above anecdotal.

I don't watch TV anymore and know even less about the current children's programming. If I had to guess based on touch-and-go experiences, I'd say children's programming is probably the worst offender in the media propaganda campaign against masculinity. The advice OP is receiving reeks of stuff non-parents would say. I'm not a parent myself, but I'm going to assume if you could replace the TV easily with yourself, it would have been done. So that means it's not easy. You may be able to use this…

I ran into a situation like this some years ago, of which I was at the center of. I was working at a job, in my early 20s, dumb and fresh out of a long term relationship. I got into shape because of it and was partying it up like no body's business, so my TRP characteristics were in really high gear. Long story short, I attracted the attention of my British boss lady who was married, and whose husband worked at the same place but in a different department. So we started going off to make out in …

The premise of Hancock was much the same. If he gets her, he loses his powers. It's not that she no longer wants him, though. It's that he then becomes the world's bitch. It's even said in the movie how he always gets his ass kicked by an angry mob somewhere for no reason when they're together.

It's not, though. Everything you read about is meant to impact the feeling of satiety, which can make you crave more or fewer calories. So we'd like to prevent an insulin rush by not binging on sugar not because it somehow makes a calorie worth more than a calorie, but because it will end up making you feel hungrier and possible lead to increased caloric intake. Telling people to eat more fats, proteins, and fiber all has the same effect of increasing the time food stays in the stomach, thus slo…

Of course they should. But to do that you need to learn what each is and then form a plan that includes both. You should always have the correct information. Always. In this case, knowing what causes weight loss and what promotes health are two separate topics that must be learned about individually and then brought together when you decide what to do.
/r/TheRedPill08/05/13 04:33 PM

Yeah, I do. Know why? Because ignorance does damage. When you spread misinformation, it hurts people. So people who are ignorant, people who think their 2 hours of internet research is enough, people who get their information from others who are just trying to sell books and promote fads, these people ought to be shamed into shutting the fuck up.
/r/TheRedPill08/05/13 04:31 PM

Of course. But we first need to establish what weight loss is, and then continue from there. Without beginning at calories out > calories in, you are lost. You are either calorie cutting without realizing it by partaking in whatever fad diet is in or are getting frustrated and not losing weight.

I really don't like documentaries. They tend to fog up the facts with interesting camera angles and carefully chosen music, crafted for one reason, to give you bias. It's the eating the 2000 cal/day that worked, not the <100g carbs.
/r/TheRedPill08/05/13 02:02 PM
2

you can consume 2500 calories of sugar a day and you will be ALOT more fat than when you would by 2500 calories of protein That was your silly, misinformed "point," not that insulin increases fat production. See, the way you used the word "fat" was to mean big, overweight, while I talked about fat as the biomolecule. To say insulin increases lipid production is to state a scientific fact. But that fact alone does not predict whether insulin levels will cause someone to gain weight (as fat) over …

It probably also resulted in a significant calorie deficit. Think of how many things on the McD's menu don't have carbs. Not many. So if he was trying to restrict going only by that, he would have to cross off most of the menu. And if you take the buns off a regular 300 calorie McD's cheeseburger, you've knocked at at least half the calories, and the bun is also mostly carb.

Insulin also increases muscle production. Things the 3-paragraph internet article never told you. It's ridiculously simple. If your body needs 2000 calories a day to fucking live, to keep you breathing, to maintain ion gradients, to keep your heart beating, then it's going to USE those calories wherever they come from. If you eat 2000 calories of sugar, the sugar will be converted into a more stable long-term energy source -fat- and then, now listen carefully, your body will use that fat so it c…

You're mixing up "health" and "weight loss" which is what tends to happen in these mind-numbing conversations of people who have science backgrounds vs. people who read shit on the internet. In terms of WEIGHT LOSS calories in<calories out is perfectly sensible and works In terms of HEALTH not all sources of calories are created equal, and some will give you diabetes and heart disease better than others.
/r/TheRedPill08/05/13 04:10 AM

Yeah except all that stuff doesn't change the capacity for energy those calories contain. The only bro-science is happening right now when you're trying to violate the law of conservation of energy AND mass. If you're body uses X amount of calories a day, and by use I mean needs those calories to live, if you consume less than that you force your body to go into fat and protein stores. It's that simple.

Trying to turn on your non-interest was sort of working against you, but there was really no other reasonable path to take. From what you're describing, your other actions seemed to work well. But geez...waiting at the door? Poor guy. It's going to happen to him at some point, but that doesn't have to be you. It's headaches you don't need.

No, I think there's a point to that and a greater life lesson. You're always doing something you don't want to do to get to something you do want to do. Sticking with the baseball example: If TheIslander829 wants results and enjoys results, then he is getting what he wants in the end. If he has to throw a less comfortable way to get to what he really wants, then that's called a sacrifice. However, if TheIslander829 is seeking to be the most comfortable at playing his sport and worries about resu…

Yeah totally correct. After several days of no-carbs, your liver goes into ketone and gluconeogenesis overhaul. The glucose transporters in your brain are extremely sensitive as well (very low Km, for your biochem review) pretty much guaranteeing that if anyone gets the glucose first, it's the brain.

I'm saying the dichotomy is worse. Either way, the male is fucked. If promiscuity is bad, then the females are just playing by the males' bad rules. If promiscuity is good, then it's the females' turn to finally engage in it as guiltlessly as the males.

So, let me see if I understand the logic correctly. Men are susceptible to this problem, therefore men must have caused the problem. By that thinking, wouldn't it also follow that women have caused their own problems as well?
