Oh man I wish that were true

While I agree with the thesis of it being a double-standard and the typical motivation is a desire for retaliation, I have one rebuttal here: If the divorce was filed by a wife as a no-fault divorce, then she's legally attesting that he didn't do anything that is grounds for divorce.

Doesn't that data show that women are more likely not to be looking? Also, self-reporting polls about something people notoriously lie about is pretty useless. A woman saying she's "not looking" for dates is just a woman accepting them as they magically arrive by making herself available. It's like someone saying "I normally don't spend much money in a given week, maybe $100, it all goes to bills at the end of the month." leaving out the $500 worth of weekly charges on the credit card that becom…

This thread is helping me understand the accusations from women about mgtow men...it's projection which is a natural consequence of imaginative empathy. So far every one of them boils down to "hit the wall by being single in my thirties" or "I never had options".

No it isn't, and even if it were, I don't care.

This is all well and good as an idea, but it's not true. We are failing to hit replacement rate in many countries, which is a priori abnormal

I do think you are seeing a very distorted sample of the population. Co-ed gyms are a huge problem, and it is not unreasonable for a person to expect their spouse to never go to one. Doubly so for crossfit. I'd put it on par with a strip club. If anyone thinks that's unreasonable or paranoid, they just haven't witnessed it.

“if someone has TOO MANY good traits, I shouldn’t date them because I’m not their equal.” This is extremely common among men.

I'm not OP, and I don't have any stock in this, but there is an economic answer. It is the principle of substitution. If you have a shovel and a pair of shoes, which one is worth more? Well, if you will give up the shoes for the shovel, but the other person won't give up the shovel for the shoes, the shovel is worth more. This is reinforced by seeing it happen more and more in various settings. Eventually, with enough data, you can define the exhange rate of shovels to shoes on average. There ar…

People who do every single thing for themselves and have zero help or support don't want you to be impressed. They want a break. This person is playing pretend.

Thanks for sharing! I had no clue this sub existed, and it's pretty interesting. I bet it draws a diverse crowd. Marriage advice is something I'm not super keen on. The older I get, the more I feel I've been sold short by marriage advice. How to "make it work" and so on.

The top comment by /u/3kindsofsalt is also well worth a look. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
