1st Valentine’s alone in 17 years. Have my son with me, that’s all that matters. Just because we don’t have a date or a loved one with us today gentlemen, doesn’t mean our worth is of any less value. When the right one does come, we will remember these days and make the most of the future ones we do have!

We have nothing joint. We only have the home under mortgage but her name is also on the deed. I always assumed that she will provide me with a settlement offer and we will go back and fourth until we are both satisfied with the deal, then submit that to the judge for approval and move on our way.

I just learned that she has been recording me for quite some time.

She has the money because her mother and her mother’s boyfriend have money. She showed up the other day in a brand new suv. Then she decided to give her older daughter our suv that we both purchased from her mother. To keep the insurance costs low, we kept it under her mother’s name and now I pay the price for that.

She claims to want a “no contest” so hopefully this doesn’t go in front of a judge at all.

How can we settle on a divorce without the courts? Do you mean both of us agreeing on the terms?

Question for everyone, shouldn’t we both have an agreement in place before filing a no contest divorce? How can she file for a no contest divorce without n agreement in writing regarding parenting time and Child support?

I plan on settling out of court and I intend on paying child support as there is no way to avoid it, I just want to pay a fair amount that would allow me to survive and have my own place.

I just found a law firm that charges a flat fee of $1500 for no contest divorce. I plan on contacting them tomorrow.

I do work and make about $60k a year. She has very little work history and has decided to start a new career which pays her supposedly $2000 a month but she also works on the side from home earning cash. Kids are 8 & 6 years old. I also pay child support ($500 a month) from a previous relationship.

She actually makes less than me but she works on the side and has a cash business. She also has her mom and Her boyfriend with deep pockets who are paying for her attorney. When I asked for 50/50 custody she is now claiming she doesn’t trust me with the kids when I drink but I am with the kids almost all day every day while she works during the day and then her cash business after work. She is using me drinking to deny me 50/50 custody because she knows it will be less child support for her. To …

I believe she did it to get proof for her custody case. To show that I’m unfit to be with the kids although I’m with them all day every day while she is out and about. I barely drink but around that time I was slipping and she took advantage of me. I haven’t drank since.

I definitely plan on getting a lawyer for the non contested divorce. I didn’t even know it was possible to get a divorce without one.

This is great advice! This is similar to what I’m Going through. We live in the same Home together for now but we plan to sell the house by the time the kids finish school and before our divorce

I believe so because if she would have stayed out of the house, it would have made her case look weaker. Also, her life back at home is much more convenient for her as she spends her days doing what she wants with little to no time with our children. She comes and goes as she pleases like she is a single women. I also pay more of the bills than so it’s a win/win for her. Spend less money and do what she wants and leaves me with the kids daily.

I have and based off the calculations I would have to pay $1800 in child support monthly which is more than half of what I take home. I currently pay $500 a month for one child I had in NY. I can’t see how making just a little more money these days will force me to pay 3x’s more for two children.

Thanks for the reply. I’m prepared to give up half of the equity and I would like to get it done before the divorce. My fear is that I won’t have enough money to afford my own apartment after. I’ve always made more money than her and even paid all the expenses for a few years while she was unemployed. I make about $3400 after taxes and with the other child support I pay and if child support takes half of that, it will leave me with $1700 which most will be taken up by a 1 bed room apt. with noth…
