Ya, it’s what my university has done. It’s actually pretty great. We still have the male and female washrooms, but the universal washrooms are everywhere and are actually nicer.

It’s not fully enforceable. There is a basis. The basis is biology. I think it’s an appropriate basis.
/r/MensRights14/04/22 03:08 AM
1

It’s enforceable when the person clearly looks like a person of their biological sex/gender. Is this always the case? No.
/r/MensRights14/04/22 03:04 AM

I’m not wrong. Washroom access shouldn’t be based on looks.

If gender now equals personality traits and interests, how about we say that nobody has a gender since everyone clearly has a different set of personality traits and interests. Or how about we say there are 7.8 billion genders (one for each person on the planet). If we want to trap people into unnecessary boxes, maybe we can sort people into Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. At least that way I know Ravenclaw=Intelligent, Gryffindor=Strong/courageous, Hufflepuff=Hardworking/loyal…

Yes, it can be enforced. The bathroom situation also can be enforced. They’re not enforced all the time though.
/r/MensRights14/04/22 02:36 AM

Speeding can’t be fully enforced. Littering also can’t be fully enforced.
/r/MensRights14/04/22 02:34 AM
2

It wouldn’t be fully enforced. It’s impossible to fully enforce speeding, taking only one sample from free samples at the grocery store, littering, only HOV’s in the HOV lane, etc.. It would be great if people generally followed the rule on their own accord.

I’m not transphobic. Adults can live in delusion if they like. I don’t hate men. Men are great. Women aren’t superior to men. I grew up being told that biological sex is equivalent to gender (purely biological definition). Now, if we want to say that gender=personality, then nobody in my immediate family has a gender (me, my grandparents, my parents, my sisters, my nephews/nieces, etc.). I don’t hate transgender people. I sympathize with trans people.

/r/MensRights13/04/22 12:58 PM

Basically, they’re trying to equate gender with personalities. Instead of coming up with new personality categories, they hijacked the term gender (it’s kind of suspicious that they’ve chosen to reframe that specific word…. Hmmmm…).

Take a look at the “ban Demmian” movement. I just found out about it, but it seems relevant.
/r/MensRights12/04/22 11:45 PM

It looks like a lot of feminists who have been banned from the feminism subreddit are trying to get the key moderator Demmian booted. It seems like Demmian is sabotaging the organization by making it appear fucked up (banning feminists who agree with men’s rights activists while letting the crazies have free reign).

I think there are fundamental truths like 1+1=2. I’m sure glad gender was never enforced upon me. Growing up, I was naïve enough to think that the whole of my country was beyond that stupid stuff.
/r/MensRights10/04/22 10:23 PM

Well, obviously the phrase “ask that woman/man over there” sounds right. The phrase “ask that female/male over there” sounds wrong. I’ve never in my life heard someone say the latter phrase. It just doesn’t roll off the tongue quite the same. I still think both versions are fine though.

/r/MensRights10/04/22 10:00 PM

Hmmm. “I’ve known this male for some time.” Female/male don’t roll off the tongue as nicely as girl/man/boy. The reason why I said girl instead of woman is because girl only has one syllable. I take no offence in being called a girl. A woman is a girl after all.
/r/MensRights10/04/22 09:53 PM

It’s okay to say male and female. How could the word “female” dehumanize someone? A female human is literally a human with XX chromosomes. Edit: And to all those weirdos who say “males and women” or “men and females”: Fuck off! The correct versions are “men and women”, “males and females”, and “ladies and gentlemen”.

I’m more calm in emergencies (I worked as a lifeguard, after all) and was in competitive lifesaving sport. My dad and I are on par with emotions (we’re not emotional). There is an underlying understanding between my dad and I that’s hard to describe. When my mom’s older siblings were bullying her, I could talk about the situation plain as day with my dad. Of course, there are differences between my dad and I. I’m more intelligent and creative, while he’s more wise and focus…

Honestly, my father never gave me advice for dealing with inappropriateness from other men. My mom gave me advice. When I moved out to university, my mom gave me a sharp nail file to put in my purse at all times (it’s legal to carry around pretty much anywhere). In BC, Canada, it is illegal to carry pepper spray. You could probably make some sort of chilli pepper spray if you really wanted to. I don’t condone carrying guns around in public. It is my personal belief that guns should only be used …

My maternal grandma was previously married (with a kid) and I forget when she married my grandpa (he died before I was born so I can’t readily find the obituary; I’d have to ask my mom). My maternal grandpa was also previously married (with kids). My grandpa was born in 1920, give or take a year (so really it’s about a 17 year age gap) and my grandma was born in 1937. My mom was born in 1962. My mom has a full brother that’s just a little bit older than her. My grandma handled finances.

She doesn’t heat her house, she doesn’t have a fridge (just freezers), she doesn’t have an oven (just a stovetop), she unplugged her microwave, she doesn’t have internet (she has a phone), she doesn’t have cable TV (she recently got a satellite that gives her a few channels for free), and she doesn’t have a car. She is doing great! Her garden keeps her busy. She doesn’…

It’s not wrong. Think of the character Matthew Cuthbert in Anne of Green Gables (1985). This video will give you an idea of his personality: https://youtu.be/eicY_BvREbg Matthew never got married, never had a relationship, and never even dated. He’s my favourite character in the movie/book (don’t watch other movie versions - the 1985 version is the best). The red head is his adopted child Anne. The deep voiced woman is Matthew’s sister Marilla. She also never married. I know that Matthew is a sh…

Sometimes the word men is used to refer to both men and women. A general phrase such as “man’s greatest desire is to…” encompasses men and women. So, when people say “it’s a man’s world” I interpret it such that man includes men and women. Man just rolls off the tongue better than human, man and woman, etc..

Embrace the curls. I have thick brown curly hair. When I have a shower and let my hair air dry, it forms nice ringlets. However, when I brush my hair the next day, it becomes frizzy and voluminous like a lion’s mane. It’s a pain to brush, but I wouldn’t want straight hair. Smooth curly hair might be nice, but there are probably hair products for that - I’m just a cheapo who only uses shampoo and conditioner.

There is a tax in Canada that applies to unessential or luxury products. Disposable (tampons and sanitary napkins) and reusable (sanitary belts and menstrual cups) feminine hygiene products were deemed as unessential whereas disposable adult incontinence products were deemed as essential. I think both men and women should aim to be physically strong. We should aim to be empathetic (within reason). We should aim to be assertive. Showing emotion and accepting help is not feminine. Showing happiness is a good thing. I also think that it can be beneficial to be stoic (to a degree). We need to accept some forms of help while declining other forms of help. I’m very picky about looks (I haven’t dated anyone, but I’m fascinated by beauty and fashion). I don’t think the extremes - very feminine and very masculine looking guys - look good. If you literally say the word “date”, it would clarify things for sure.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/03/22 06:39 AM

Actually, the flowers situation isn’t that clear, because it would seem like two friends hanging out if you gave her flowers after a performance (instrumental, musical theatre, big speech, competition, etc.).
/r/PurplePillDebate17/03/22 06:37 AM

It depends on how you ask. If you handed her flowers and asked her out to dinner, then it seems like it would be a date. If you just invited her over for dinner and scrabble after work, it would just seem like two friends from work hanging out.

Sometimes you’ve just gotta move. If you can’t afford living in a place, you move. If the people in your society treat you like trash, you move. If you’re not fulfilled where you live, you move. That is, unless you want to fight the big fight to try to spark change.

First of all, I don’t think the current definition of gender is a fundamental truth. There are no gendered interests, personalities, jobs, emotions, ways of thinking, likes, dislikes, “roles”, etc.. I grew up with the definition of gender that was logically equivalent to sex. Gender was just the nicer word for sex because the latter has dual meaning. This is besides the point. I’ll use the current definition for gender from now on. The current concept of gender seems weird and sexist. People can…

It’s all good. She had a wonderful life. Even though I grew up somewhat far away from family (12hr. drive that was spread out over 2 days: 6hr drive each day for two days), we made sure to visit my grandma every summer and sometimes during Spring Breaks.

I’m 20 years old. I’m female. I’m safely above 7, looks wise. I would have to know the personalities of the men. My mom was 39 and my dad was 40 when they had me and they have really good genetics and lifestyles so I’m used to older people who look younger than they really are. My parents looked the same age or younger than the parents of my friends. They also were more active than most of the parents of my friends. Anyway, my maternal grandma is 20 years younger than my maternal grandpa. He was…

I’m not religious. My sisters, parents, grandparents, and all the family I can think of aren’t religious. The exception is my paternal grandpa’s sister. She was a nun. The funny thing is that my grandpa had a kind of disdain for the church since he grew up during the Great Depression.

The misogynistic label comes from questioning whether or not all women are manipulative or entitled while accepting that not all men are manipulative or entitled.

Gregor Mendel was an Austrian monk. He is known as “The Father of Genetics”. He conducted breeding experiments with pea plants. He discovered fundamental laws of inheritance (The Law of Segregation, The Law of Independent Assortment, and The Law of Dominance).

What would you like me to say? This? If a person says all women are manipulative, then that person is misogynistic. If a person says that all women are entitled, then that person is misogynistic. Would you like me to combine the two statements to say: If a person says that all women are manipulative or entitled, then that person is misogynistic. I don’t understand your critique. Please elaborate. Are you just questioning why I said “and” instead of “or”?

In response to bullet point #2: I agree that most people don’t know what they really want in a partner until “bam”, some person comes along and everything changes. However, I think women don’t truly want mean and unstable men. I think that a woman would want a man who will challenge her, but I don’t think anyone wants a truly mean partner. Mental instability is a huge red flag. I understand that wealth can have importance. Dating advice can really go either way. It all depends on the people. In …

Current femininity is just physical traits and fashion in my opinion (nothing to do with behaviour and matters of the mind such as interests and personality). “Men have created their own version of feminine and then brainwashed women into believing this is how women naturally act.” No. “feminine means “vulnerable, docile, submissive”. “ No. “This, imo, is why a lot of women are rejecting femininity altogether.” What is femininity? Are you referring to traditional d…

My dad is a lone wolf who attracts people like a social butterfly. He has had strong connection to family all his life. He has only ever had a few close friends all his life. He’s an introvert who always got dragged into doing big social activities like concerts while he was in university. Otherwise, he’d rather just go fishing with family. He’ll go fishing with a friend once in a while, but he prefers family. I’m much like my dad. I think you have to examine people like us, who some people woul…

That’s complete nonsense. My dad loves flowers (seeing and smelling them), too. But, he’d rather work on the fruit, veggies and herbs. I’m like him in those respects. He’s an engineer. He’s naturally very practical. He also does all the pickling (my grandma’s special recipe). My mom is so great with the flowers that he lets her do her thing while she lets him do his thing. I’ve given plants and flowers to my grandpa. He was the gardener of the family. The last plant I gifted him was a prayer plant. My mom is more into flowers. I gave my nephew (in grade 2) a flowering cactus I had because he was eyeing it like crazy. My sister has set up his own garden in their backyard, too. H…

It seems that people make blue pillers out to be politically correct, complacent people who never question the status quo. Blue pillers seem kind of sexist and racist, too. I joined the men’s rights group because I don’t like the idea of equality of outcome. I also don’t think I live in a patriarchy.

This is just entertainment. I joined the men’s rights group a few months ago and found out about red/blue pill on that forum. I liked how it was a play on The Matrix. That was clever. However, I didn’t like what red pill and blue pill groups were saying. I joined this forum to insert my opinions into the mix. The real world is much different than the online world.

Of course there are forms of work that must be completed in a timely manner (eg. taking care of health/finances). Hopefully a person’s profession doesn’t feel like “work for the sake of work”, for the most part. I’m a firm believer that it’s best, for example, to write up a report as soon as possible. Volunteering sounds fun for the most part. Self-care just sounds normal. Household stuff seems normal.

Interesting. I am a very confident person. However, I’m not overconfident. I’m diligent: “get work done, then have some fun”! Hopefully one’s profession doesn’t feel just like “work for the sake of work”. The best professions are the ones in which a person, for the most part, doesn’t feel like he/she is working (the job is a fun passion). I always thought that volunteering was fun for the most part.

Women and men have the same thoughts, interests, behaviours, so-called “roles”, personalities, etc.. Why mess with matters of the mind? I’m going to get a lot of backlash with this opin…

There’s a third group of people who you are missing. There are hunters/fishers. I, myself, catch and prepare my own fish. Also, there are better farming practices out in the world. Preferences just serve as a beginner’s manual for communicating what a person thinks is aesthetically/intellectually pleasing. What can I say? I’ve used up all my logic in my real analysis homework.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/01/22 03:54 AM

Then I guess I think that “potential” can mean something totally different from the two options you gave.

I wasn’t sure, because you misinterpreted what I said.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/01/22 03:32 AM

That’s not true of my thought process. If a man influences me in a positive way, then that’s good.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/01/22 03:30 AM

I said “influence each other for the BETTER”.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/01/22 03:29 AM

Your last paragraph is exactly what I was thinking! When I initially looked at this post I thought more along the lines of lightening up a grumpy person or reining in a dreamer who needs more focus, etc..
/r/PurplePillDebate18/01/22 11:17 PM
1

But shouldn’t partners influence each other for the better?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/01/22 11:13 PM

I guess it could be interpreted in that way. I always thought of the phrase differently. More often I hear that a guy is a “work and process”. Maybe he’s grumpy around strangers and needs to learn to lighten up a bit (I knew someone who was like that). Maybe he’s a dreamer that’s not smart with money (he needs to have more focus and learn to be frugal). The list goes on and on.

I’m not debating. I could write my life story and give valid points, but today I just want to share my opinion in a sentence (give or take). I think your definition of gender is sexist. If you’re interested in my perspective, we could chat via Zoom videoconferencing.

“Then you'd be going against quite a bit of psychology.” Yep. “Got a good reason for that that isn't just rooted in not wanting to accept trans folk?” I accept trans folk. I have a trans friend. I don’t believe that “gender identity” exists because it seems sexist.

Well, in the scenarios directly related to my family: The guy was destroying himself so the woman divorced him. She took care of the kid and herself all on her own. No payments. No house involved. The guy didn’t want custody of the kid. The woman remarried. The woman and her second husband raised the kid together. The old husband dies at a fairly young age. Slapping is a type of hitting. Slapping is not logically equivalent to hitting. I’m guessing that we both agree with those statements. After all, the definition of slap is not hit. The definition of slap is a “hit … with the palm of the hand or a flat object”. You viewed the word “is” as meaning “is a type of” and I viewed the word “is” as meaning “is logically equivalent to”. I think we’re just misunderstanding each other.

Generally, I think healthy, athletically fit, tall guys with short hair, no piercings, and not too many tattoos look good. It’s too difficult for me to describe an aesthetically pleasing face and figure (too many variables; too many surprises). Here is a list (in no particular order) of some guys who I think look aesthetically pleasing: Akira Takarada as Ichiro Sakai in the movie Godzilla Vs. Mothra (1964). “So if a woman punches a man so hard that his bone break she is fine?” No. That’s not fine. That’s unacceptable (unless she is acting in self defence). “By swore i mean hit him sorry...” Okay, that makes a lot more sense. I took what you had originally said for face value. “Even if a guy swores at a girl and gets slapped evrryone says he was an asshole.” Slapping is different than hitting. It doesn’t work like that in the real world nowadays. If a woman hits a man (not out of self-defence, but maybe because the guy groped her or something) and the man becomes injured, the woman’s life is derailed. It’s not worth it. Edit: When I said hit, I was referring to a punch. After all, a punch can hurt a person. I was not referring to a measly slap.

I copy and pasted this from a comment I made earlier: “People talk about being frustrated with the expectation of surnames. I don’t see any reason to be frustrated about that expectation.
