If it excludes those men from chances of reproduction, you eliminate the majority of men from the process of parenting, which in turn will create massive population decreases. If this were to happen on a large scale, all people, including women, would be screwed. Short term sexual strategy cannot completely override other issues.

Because it creates the idea that the evil college educated male is oppressing the poor, easily manipulated woman. It's also much easier to manipulate a bunch of desperate computer science majors than it is to manipulate business majors, for example.
