Because if the driver for self improvement is an external person or want, you’re never actually going to improve yourself. It’s all performative.

There’s a difference between the initial mantra, and the actual mentalities of the people who consider themselves RP.

Wow, you sound VERY angry…. That also likely comes out when you’re on dates.

Are you an aerospace engineer? Just curious because I’ve met my fair share. And there may very well be ways in which you could improve your dating outlook. Have you diversified your interests through hobbies? How are your social skills? Do you have any other interests that aren’t STEM based? Most women you meet through online dating won’t be another aerospace engineer, or even engineer. And even if they are an engineer, let’s just say they may not have had the best experiences with their male co…

I’m curious if these men saying hairy butthole wax their own. I fully respect your right to a hairy butthole, but wanted to let you know waxing that area is infinitely lass painful than the bikini area. THE MORE YOU KNOW ⭐️

I’m not saying physical attraction isn’t important. I’m saying if physical attraction is the sole thing a person is attracted to, then I think by definition that’s shallow (lacking emotional or intellectual depth). I.e. if you don’t care about another persons personality traits and only care about their physical appearance, you’re shallow.

I don’t know if “deserve” is the correct term. I don’t think anyone is entitled to a relationship. I think having set standards that you are looking for in a partner is what I was describing. Being ok or even happy just being single is the other side of that coin. You can’t maintain those standards if you’re dying to just be in a relationship, any relationship. And I was actually able to find a partner that met all of my standards :)

Maybe it’s the area I live in, maybe it’s my career, but the majority of people I meet through hobbies, work, randomly out and about are actually pretty similar to myself. I live in an area where the majority of people are outdoorsy, work in the tech industry, are pretty liberal, and have one of the highest non-religious/atheist populations in the country. We don’t care about fancy cars, we just care that we won’t get stranded on a forest service road on the way to a trailhead. We don’t care abo…

No, I’m saying studies have shown women are actually happier alone than with either of those male examples (intelligent male model who’s a man child around the house, unattractive man). When children are involved, having a partner who doesn’t contribute can actually be worse than being a single parent. If you think women just like doing all the household work while their partner does nothing, have a gander at the hundreds of stresses and frazzled women at the end of their rope posting on r/relat…

So your original argument was that the younger the couple, the more successful the marriage. Please, point out where that article supports that statement. Unless I misread “Couples that met and married early have much lower divorce rates and better self-reported sex lives than people who shopped around into their 30s”

Why do you think this? ETA: in my mind, delaying “knowing” any part of your partner till after marriage is a recipe for disaster. I also think people should 100% live together before marriage and are idiots if they don’t.

Hate to break it to you, but plenty of women with their shit together don’t go out of their way to associate with “shallow women.” As with most people, you meet others through common interests. If you yourself aren’t a vain and shallow woman, your likelihood of meeting someone who is is pretty low.

I met one very sad woman with low self-esteem who had a boob job in college, posted nudes on social media of said boob job, and had banged a large percentage of a certain fraternity. She was physically attractive, but so was everyone else in LA. She was the roommate of my close friend, and we were just gobsmacked with her and the other sorority women living in the apartment. Said friend was just living there because she transferred mid-year.

Some people possess the self-awareness and maturity to know that they’re still growing as a person and shouldn’t settle down for life with anyone until they fully know themselves. I would argue those people are happier and make for better parents.

Hard disagree. The person I was willing to marry in my 20s no joke was going to be a sub optimal partner. They’re religious and I’m atheist? I’ll make it work. They’re conservative and I’m a “flaming liberal” according to them? I’ll make it work. They think it’s ok to police what I wear? They just have low self-esteem, I’ll make it work. You’re an actual idiot. I guarantee you couldn’t guess the female stereotypes I fit into. News flash: because stereotypes don’t fit all the people in the demographic they attempt to summarize. It’s insane to believe you can generalize half of the entire world population.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/10/21 03:55 AM

The issue is “observations” aren’t objective and don’t apply to all women as a whole. That’s the problem with basing your entire mentality around stereotypes.

Also, just as an aside question. You say you just need to be honest with yourself and aren’t attracted to women your own age. Are you looking for a LTR? If you aren’t, are you just going to continue dating women of the same age bracket for the rest of your life a la Matthew McConaughey in Dazed and Confused when he says “That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age.” Or if you are interested in LTRs, how will you feel about your partner’s attractiven…

When I referenced trophy spouses I was specifically referring to people who date/marry younger people who they’re SOLELY physically attracted to. Think: Kate McKinnon’s character Shawna on Friends From College. That being said, I don’t think I ever said having an attraction for slightly younger is a no-go. I will say I do think dating 10+ years younger when that puts them in their teens or early 20s is predatory as fuck. Please note this is something I apply equally to both genders.

I find it hilarious and very telling of this sub and TRP that you think women only want a 6’4” intelligent model. That intelligent model might do absolutely jack shit around the house which becomes an even bigger issue when children arrive. I would argue the majority of women I know want to be mothers. No woman wants to be in a relationship where they do the majority of housework, parenting, and mental labor, but in A LOT of cases this is true. There’s a holdover from when the majority of women …

I actually don’t agree that men are hornier. I think that’s a false stereotype that started back in the olden days when men didn’t give a shit about their wives orgasms and women were just viewed as baby makers and maids.

I think you’re approaching the logic inaccurately. Are models, or whatever positions society views as appearance based, usually in their late teens/early 20s? Yes. But I think if you’re a person who isn’t just looking for a trophy spouse, the people you find ATTRACTIVE will be closer in age to yourself. Im in my 30s and do not find men in their 20s attractive. They look like babies to me. My attraction to other people is also based on more than just appearance. I’m just not attracted to people w…

Why does feminism = stay at home dad to you? This sub would probably consider me a feminist, and I would absolutely not want to be with a partner who didn’t have a career. Both my husband and I have careers and it would be stupid as fuck for either of us to be a stay at home parent. Does that make us bad parents? Absolutely not.

If the only thing you personally are interested in is banging, then yeah, you’ll be looking for a woman who’s only interest is the same and she likely has physical standards. The original post was about personality types BTW, not who and who is not bang material.

You seem to be pretty ignorant when it comes to abusive relationships. Initially the victim is love-bombed and thinks the relationship is great. Then the abuser starts the slow boil of abuse, isolates the victim from family and friends or through convincing them to move to a new location away from their support system, tries to get the victim dependent on them by having them quit their job, further traps them through pregnancy or marriage, degrades their self esteem to the point they believe the…

What is it with men on this sub that think all or most women want attractive “bad guys”?! That’s simply not how the majority of women are. If that’s the rhetoric you guys need to tell yourself to avoid introspection, then you’re just going to continue being unsuccessful dating women. The only women I have ever known to date or have sex with “bad guys” had horrible horrible self esteem issues, to the point that those men were just a part of their self destructive spiral.

/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/21 02:07 AM

I think you’re missing the point. A lot of women want to have children, they just expect their partners to contribute 50/50. And that’s a where the disconnect occurs. And that’s where resentment starts happening.

So childcare is like going from “household chores” to infinity. A person might be cool with doing their own dishes but when it comes to night time feeds, diaper changes, cleaning up food messes, cleaning up toy messes, dealing with fits over shower time or bed time or get ready for daycare time… yeah, those are all things neither person has experienced before, and are hard to deal with. ETA: it seems men are less prepared or willing to rise to the challenge than women.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/08/21 04:06 PM

News flash, you can’t vet a partner for this unless they already have children. Yes, you can gauge how they might be based on how they currently are, but in terms of actually caring 50/50 for children, you really can’t tell until you’re knee deep.

what do you define as a miserable marriage? One where there’s resentment. One where each spouse isn’t equal. Not to mention the obvious of abuse being present. what would the man need to do in order to make it a happy exciting marriage for you? This is formulaic. I follow other relationship subs and to me the posts from women that stand out the most are: Women with children who’s husbands don’t contribute to the household beyond an income. And I’m not talking SAHMs, I’m talking women who work as much as their spouse, but still do all the housework and still do most of the child rearing while their husbands complain about being tired or play too much video games. Working on yourself is essentially working toward making yourself more attractive. Focusing on advancing your career, traveling, taking up new hobbies, are all examples of how you can enrich your life without hyper focusing on solely doing these things to “score” a partner. You need to be more specific than listing just “traditional roles”. Because in my mind, traditional roles means the male operates as the sole provider. Which is for most US families not doable anymore. Therefore men need to step up their game. It’s no longer acceptable for them to have a run of the mil job, come home, and just kick their boots off. It’s likely their wife who has up until the millennial generation been the one working, cooking, cleaning, helping with homework, shopping for grocer…

Thank you. Sometimes I feel the men on this sub are so offended women don’t want to date someone with no career aspirations and just play video games during their free time. Like, I had to claw my way up to a career in a male dominated field, and I have so many diverse hobbies/interests. The things OP are complaining about having to do to be competitive in the dating field are all things I CHOSE to do for myself.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/21 11:12 PM

The person you are responding to gave ONE example showing how women are competitive in the dating scene. That isn’t the ONLY way women can feel pressured to compete. In my opinion, if you’re feeling competitive in the dating scene you’re doing it wrong. You should want to improve yourself for you, not to “win” a partner.

My initial comment asked how the logic worked with women having an easy time with casual encounters but the opposite is true for men, solely based on numbers. The women are having sex with someone!
/r/PurplePillDebate02/07/21 06:05 AM

So your theory is a number of single women sleep around, a lesser number of men sleep around, and the numerical difference are men who wished they could sleep around but can’t attract women? Sounds like a personal issue for the men who can’t find casual partners.

Psychology is all about translating how one thinks or feels into something that can be measured. For example, you can literally just ask people how happy they are on a scale from 1 to 10. There’s also a fallacy when comparing one country which provides free health care and normalizes mental health with another which does neither. Of course the former would have a higher rate of antidepressant use. Also, where’s your source on suicide rates? Because there are other European countries who surpass …
