I would be curious to investigate this topic. How far is it due to a lack of self respect and how far is it because men are not aware of the risks of domestic violence? Most of the profiles didn't look like people who would have reason to be desperate

I am more shocked that I wasn't baned from the app for this. Later, for comparison, tried to do a similar test with a similarly bad profile without the violence. I put in a bio containing substance abuse issues and conspiracy theories. This profile was must have been reported multiple times within minutes because I was soon confronted with auto generated warnings and had to take it down.

thank you for the clarification. That's quite shocking, even assuming the "only 20%" estimate, helplines for male victims would be entitled to £400k. Yet, I'm still afraid that this is better than other countries, which have nothing like this. Also, the UK has the centre of male psychology which is investigating this topic. So as sad as it sounds , this little something may be better than nothing.

And I see more and more advocates of womens rights with respect to protection from SA and DV also caring about male victims. This logic is fundamentally flawed. Imagine no one would care about aviation or rail safety rules because most traffic victims are pedestrians and bicyclists. Or imagine there would be no doctors or clinics for cancer patients because more people die of a heart attack. But how can we argue this and change governmental action?

I absolutely agree with you. Any kind of violence is bad, including this instance. What I meant to say is, that probably it was worse than what we see in the video, because 1. typically it's worse than that and 2. she later used a knife to murder him (which is usually the end of a longer escalation). I guess I phrased it badly, so I will edit the comment. Thanks for pointing it out!

holy shit that's crazy - and the authors of the news article don't even seem to get it. India is often seen as male dominated. In cases of domestic violence, I know quite a few male victims from countries which are seen as very male dominated. People are often more open if you start with a personal story that happened and then point to the underlying issue. This can be seen reddit e.g. in those cases where men have spoken up about being a victim of domestic violence.

Thank you for bringing up this important, but often overlooked topic. From around age 20 onwards for around 10 years I have been through some strong physical abuse for around 10 years from my ex girlfriend, which even brought me into the emergency room.
