Enjoy the journey. One day, when your life is centered on better things, you’ll be grateful. Just dont dig to find out “why”, as youll never get an answer that fills you

You might have to crawl towards a light you cant see. Eventually, despite how impossible it sounds right now, you’ll live under a new sun with a fuller understanding of who you are. Even on the days you cant crawl, breathe. Some days that’s enough.

You want to end the pain you see coming. I understand. This mountain of pain looks big. Bigger than it is, in hindsight. Get to the hindsight. You can always climb the first boulder of this mountain. And perhaps the next one after that. Try one. Men like you have done it, all while dragging the same shame and doubt you have now.

You are months or years behind the current state of the relationship. Harder work on your part will not work. You’ll just feel exhausted, and still wrong. You’ll look for answers from the arsonist who set your world on fire. You’ll replay history looking for the magic turning point. You’ll try hard til you collapse, psychologically exhausted. Color will return to your life. Hold on to your breath, feel your heart still beating, dont let her extinguish you. Whatever strength it took to reach out …

I understand how you feel. You have to let your old self die so you can mourn him, before that guy takes tomorrow’s you with him. You shouldnt have to do this alone. All you need is a toehold when youre drowning. Just a toehold makes all the difference, until you can fight for tourself again. Is there one? Just make it one more day, then see if maybe you can make it for another.

I talk to almost no one in my daily life, because I’m quiet by nature and because of you know, childhood. As silent as I am, though, I’m all for making connections with good people. The point is, dont take someone’s silence as automatic rejection. I wish you luck in your efforts, from a failing friend-maker.

It’s mentally “genetic”. Combination of your assumptions of how the world should be. These assumptions are intrinsic and learned. If you are not aware of them, then you do not know to fix them, and you wonder why the world doesnt zig when you zag. Dude, all things considered, you have only your mind to fight. So many men have to battle these assumptions in their brain, as they also battle the courts, battle the system. You cant feel this today, but your best days are in front of you. Understand …

For me, a car is a conveyance, not a billboard. That car takes me far and fast for cheap, and when I get there, it keeps me sheltered at night. I also had a motorcycle until recently. Loved it, had it for years. It’s gone now and honestly - it was a mental burden I didnt know I carried.

Shifting your attention away from women means you’ve just given yourself an extra set of eyes and ears on life. It’s an incredible return on such a simple decision. But your goals shouldnt be reached in the way you ask. It’s a process. Your goals should be evolving, and now you can chase them with full attention.

They’re still on the same game as they approach 40. Same. Drill. In my experience, they agree to your conditions as the price to play. Then they dont understand why if they see you as relationship material, you still value them the same. Know that by the time you get the ultimatum, she’s well onto her next options, and this is your time to let her exit. Why? You dont work hard for what she’s giving away for free.

It’s difficult to empathize with someone when you haven’t lived in their shoes. I have suffered and lost, slept in the cold, been hungry. I still cannot imagine what homelessness is, and when I see a homeless man - even with all my awareness - my first thought is he ought to pick himself up. So, when people confuse fear of destruction with fear of intimacy, let them, and hope they don’t get their turn to learn.

Hey man, if taking the steps to getting help are too much for you, tell someone you can trust just where you are and what you need. Let them help you in the moments youre too weak to help yourself. It doesnt have to be a perfect person who helps you, or a perfectly close one - just someone you can trust to be a decent human being. Stick around for the days where this will be behind you. I promise you it will be worth it.

My thought on rent vs buy: I dont need a bog house, so a small rental is always cheaper. Make that rental close to work and play (for me that’s biking and right out the door.) Get rid of the extraneous, have exercise and great food in your place (I try to collect spices etc in my travels and recreate foods at home). I dont prioritize women in my life at all - turning down things you dont need gets easier. For work do a specialized thing I love in a job that gives me a really good amount of flexi…

We hear you. It will get worse before it gets better - it’s the nature of dealing with her when she has the power of the system. You’ll find it impossible to get through some moments. But do. Get through those moments, those months, for your future self and your future daughter. Dont look for your stbx to respond in kind to you. Do this for yourself. Someday, way in the future, you’ll be the better person, and you’ll have learned to love yourself more. But first you have to feel like you’ve died…

I love your writeup, and not just because I’m at 5.5 out of 6 just by following instincts and interests. You’re right - the work situation is hardest to line up. There’s no reason to ensure your continued misery. Want to know what won’t ever work? A relationship with her. That goes for you, that goes for the next bunch of guys she’ll go through, that goes probably for your child. You need to exit. Consider the fact that if she’s manipulative enough to hook you, she’s manipulative enough to allow herself to get pregnant once she sensed you were done. It’s a story as old as time, and it has happened to better men than you. That said, do your best to be a p…

Those are tough hours to bear all alone, in the company of your biggest fears, shame, and guilt. You’ve never been weaker than at this moment when you needed yourself to be the strongest. In more ways than one, strength comes from forgiveness, and forgiveness comes at the end of a long process. This forgiveness, is ultimately for you, meaning even if you forgive someone else for their wrongs, it’s to your benefit to release the burden of carrying around that pain. I truly hope you dont go throug…

You can be there by offering frameworks that help him digest “why.” There’s no growth without failure AND reflection. The red pill is a framework that helps answer “why.” But so are things like myers briggs, attachment theory, love languages, etc. One aspect of reflection is getting to know yourself and how you got to where you find yourself - to know that you are not broken, but different, and worth saving through effort aimed at undestanding yourself. It gets better, you just need to get there. In the meantime, allow time to do its work. Take this time to learn about yourself, even if youre in the fight of your life. One mental exercise that eased the tension a bit: think of your problem as a big black cloud. Grab it and reduce it in your hands. Put it down and say, I cant fix you in this moment, but I’m setting you aside and you can wait right there. I can tell you I went from hating myself, to hating my ex, to finding peace.

You’re not wrong or broken; this is a correct response to stressors that you feel you can’t control. My four year old was a trap pregnancy. I dont blame the little girl at all, and hope to show her the good things in life. I dont count her mother among those good things. What happened was the hardest thing I’ve gone through.

Where are you starting from and how much time do you have? I had a great time on a very long weekend in the Outer Banks. That’s your beach with options for town and solitude, surf and bay. Honestly though it sounds like youre already on the most important vacation of all.

You WILL give up so much time and effort to redirect towards her. Were you doing something with your time and effort? Are you willing to lose out on that, for her company and what she brings? The thing about lobster, crab, and mouse traps, is that they’re enticing on the way in. So it’s not the entry that we avoid here - it’s the exit. And there WILL be an exit.

You dont overcome your predisposition - you learn to fight it. Experience gives rise to confidence in the things you master, and that confidence may carry over to other portions of life. For you, confidence-building experience may come from talking to strangers. The end is not to make friends, the end is to help yourself. Much like you, everyone is absorbed in their own worlds - they wont think about you whether you approached them or not. I will say this: getting better at engaging with people …

Enjoy that pain. I mean it. Feel all of it, so that when it ends, you’ll own the peace. Think of your pain in this way: you’re feeling pain right now in order to buy your freedom. The intensity of pain you feel right now is nothing, compared to years of pain in marriage, and the eventual feeling of deep regret. It’s okay to mourn the illusion of “her.” It was supposed to work, and perhaps you feel like you’re letting her down. Mourn, but keep on your path. It will be worth it.

Women are not choiceless receptacles of men’s actions. They can and do lie, they can and do make terribly selfish decisions. They will do this with their lives, and they’ll do this with yours. I’ll modify what you said: the entirety of the responsibility HAS TO be the SMART man’s

Say this to yourself: “She is the reason I am unhappy. I need her to leave.” This woman is ruining your life and you feel bad for losing her. Don’t. Find a way to get out from under that house. You do not and will not need it. Sell it as part of the divorce, split the incurred debt if you have to. See yourself free from this bad person, free from a house that sinks you - think of yourself a few years from now, and make that man a reality.

Welcome, Tex. I let the hatred and frustration run through me until it burnt itself out. This doesnt mean I caused harm to others or acted to my detriment, but it does mean that it was noticeable. Given time, your new mindset will develop a new set of expectations. As life works itself out, you’ll find peace. Dude, you may not realize it now, but you’ve given yourself the gift of peace. Peace comes about when you stop struggling to fulfill your blue pill delusions.

Military life is lonely, for exactly the reasons you mentioned, and more. Know one thing: comparison is the thief of happiness. Learn to build what works for you. You have DECADES of living and learning ahead of you; believe me you dont know what you dont know. Revel in that, and get started. As far as isolation and monotony - it’s life’s default. I live by example and give my red pilled opinion on all topics save one: a direct criticism of his situation. I see it as fruitless; he knows what’s happening, but if I attack his crumbling family, I’ll lose that friendship. I think she’s well into your points 1, 3, and 4. I’ve given him what I learned in my divorce. “Cheaper to keep her” is not one of those lessons. She stays home and rolls her eyes at his hobbies, then throws literal thousands at her own.

I suspect that there are more cash holders in this sub than the investor average. The investor average knows to dollar cost average, leave money invested, and go on with your life. You’re too young to see people reap the fruit of their decision chains; you know about evolution but you’ve yet to see it in action. I agree this is part of what makes men fall... they believe her interest is a reflection of his worth and accomplishment, and they love her for it.

That’s your mountain. Climb that fucker. And whatever comes of it, you’ll always take with you. There’s very little space between your inferior self-perception and the path that has brought you here, I tell you this because I know this of me now. Try a myers-briggs personality test and see if that tells you something about yourself. Red up on love languages. Gather a set of mental models that help you categorize your understanding. Mgtow is full of mental models. Choose wisely.

Oh if only that were true. I’ve lived it. I’ve seen the trick. Fucking heartwrenching rape of your body and life. Men hardly allow themselves to weigh the theft for what it truly is. Married guys look at you the way they look at a guy with a nice boat. “Must be nice, but I dont have that kind of money.” Difference is you’ve bought youself freedom, and not a money pit. In the past I would have agreed with you. But no. You feel like you should be in a hurry, but you dont have to be. Fear drives you to mistake mere action for actual progress. Coming of age is hard for most people, and you may never have it “easy” in social interactions. As you get older, you’ll have a better chance at picking who to spend time with - especially if that number is small. There are millions of Japanese men who would disagree with you. You are not of that culture and you cannot assess with the necessary fidelity, just who they really are.

This just smacked me in the mouth. I’d be afraid to have a drink with you, and what I’d have to do with my guts spilled on the floor. Thank you.

Just saw this, and no I dont. It’s just my journey too.

So glad these stories are told. They are invaluable for their lessons and a lift to a well-wishing guy who didnt get away so easily.

A certain point of view? But seriously Thana and James are digging right in the vein of the mgtow mine.

My dependent ex through therapy discovered a narcissist in her house and divorced him. A woman I know - dependent for years - is divorcing a narcissist as concluded in therapy. But luckily, narcissism is not transferrable. See, the abuser narcissist must go, but his dollars are squeaky clean. They can stay.

Remember this journey. And to remember it you have to live it, like a walk in the woods. Write about it. Tell your future self about this journey, because someday you’ll wave your hand over this bog of shit you had to stomp through. And keep stomping. You dont know this, but youre closer to dry land than you think.

Great comment. I remember this concept was foundational to mgtow discussion some years ago... “Men are actors, women are acted upon.” Discussing the effects of this fallacy is worthy of its own thread.

You were her plan B and when she had the most power to choose - she left you. She is a chaos generator and you dont want chaos close to you. I’m paraphrasing here: You’ve been down that road - you know where it ends. Your heart wishes for her happiness to this day - its instinct is to share of its abundance? Good! Treat that heart well and keep it away from that lost cause. You can seed, water, and fertilize for happiness, but its germination is up to the soil’s intrinsic nature. Leave deserts w…

Dont feel guilty. She doesnt feel guilty for the shit she’s put you through. You’re not and will not ever be strong enough to hold up this burden of bullshit. This is because you’re holding up neither a barrel nor a tank of it. It is and endless waterfall of utter sewage, wiithout end. Men - get out from under the waterfall. And walk away.

This guy knows. It’s amazing how all-consuming the anger can be. So hyper-aware of the injustice, the perpetrators and the blind. You’ll never be the same. Then someday, you realize, youre not the same - youre better than you were.

This is why I love this sub. Spot on - you’ve not only been through it, you’ve come out better. OP - be like this. Also important: Dont look for vengance. Look for peace, and the sweetest vengance will come to you, because things dont end well for people like her. Work on your story. Dont look to her for answers. She’s a sociopathic mess, a black hole that knows to do only one thing. Let that garbage go. Dont expect normal reactions from yourself; your chest is split open, and for now you cant d…

I’d tread very carefully if I were you. It’s exactly this kind of underemployed floozy that will end up crying in your arms, pregnant and out of options. How many lonely nights would you trade for then? Right now, you’re all ideals and should-bes driven by hormones. It’s a dangerous combination because it doesnt SEEM dangerous. So, go and live and experience. You’ll make mistakes and fall for the floozy and learn. But remember: DO NOT put your life in some part-time skating rink girl’s hands.

Thanks brothers. My no was clear and final. It just wasn’t easy. A story we can learn from. It’s what we’re here for. I remember her smugness when she had the weight of the state behind her, and all I had was my sense of justice.

*bump back It’s not every day that life serves you up the chance to fix your big mistake - you just gotta zig when you should zig.

All advice is imperfect because we can’t know your past or your future. This post will definitely favor a bird in the hand over two in the bush; this is not the ‘risk it all and make billions’ post... I’d say take the job (sounds like it’s likely but not guaranteed - keep that in mind). Take the job and start building your reserves. Read up on the tenets of financial independence - that will teach you focus on the externals. Read up on stoicism - that will teach you focus on the internals. You c…

I pulled that book off the shelf thinking I’d learn. Nope. Saw the author’s underlying assumption before I looked for the author’s [female] name. Thanks for doing that digging.

Monkey, youre in the right place. You’ll grow from here. Right now, your innards are knotting and churning at seeing this new reality. Your comments sound fresh and raw. Keep excreting. Not necessarily here, but let that vile anger that’s been pent up in knots, go. Give. Yourself. Time. For me, a few years ago, some train tracks looked like a good place to lay down for a bit. Today, I wouldnt trade places with the “man” I used to be. We cant promise you’ll find justice, but I promise you can sti…
