If they actually said something like that, why didn’t you paste the quote? If I had a piece of evidence to support my claim, I would be eager to share it with you.

Ah, okay.

You did, slapnuts. I’m quoting your words from four comments ago. Actually if you took a look at this thread you would see he doesnt believe feminism is about equality and is about equality for women. You literally said he was talking about equality for women. Those are your words.

Well that is a piece of info I was not aware of. Do you happen to have a source for that? I tried Google but found nothing to verify your claim. I did find that many women were afraid gaining the right to vote would somehow make them less valuable at home, but that sounds more like a fear of sexist retaliation than anything else. But yeah, if you happen to have evidence about the conscription thing, I’d love to see it.

I’m saying you don’t understand what words mean. Explain to me how exactly making women equal to men gives women an advantage over men.

I’m sure not being able to vote was really good for women.

How can you have an advantage if you’re equal?

The American Revolutionary war was fought because Britain was getting rid of slavery and we didn’t want to lose our source of free labor. Hardly what I would consider a “good cause”.
/r/MensRights09/07/21 04:47 PM

Women and children didn’t make the decision to go to war. And about zero percent of American wars have actually been about improving the quality of life of other Americans, so the idea that men sacrificed their lives for the benefit of women is based on flawed logic.

It’s a accepted scientific fact that h mans tend to group up with others of a similar background, such as gender. You cannot prove that a venture capitalist is somehow capable of not acting like a human. They aren’t computers, so of course bias is going to creep in conscious or not. We know that women-investors are twice as likely to provide funding for women-entrepreneurs, it doesn’t take a leap of faith to understand gender bias works both ways.
/r/MensRights08/07/21 03:05 PM

Because they don’t exist? It’s a boogie man that you’ve created. I’d be surprised if you could name any feminist leader, much less one calling for genocide.
/r/MensRights08/07/21 03:01 PM

I meant equity. It doesn’t make sense to even try and create equality without addressing the fact that different people have different needs.
/r/MensRights08/07/21 03:00 PM
1

Then why are women-owned businesses twice as likely to receive funding when the person handing out loans is another woman? Seems like gender bias. And it makes sense that if the bias is so strong for woman-to-woman relationships, it would be roughly as strong for man-to-man relationships.
/r/MensRights08/07/21 02:58 PM

Men weren’t treating women better than men. Men were treating women and other men badly. Specifically, rich men were treating poor women and poor men badly.
/r/MensRights08/07/21 02:55 PM

Yeah, you’re probably right about the discrimination. Oh wait never mind, because men were the ones sending those men to death. That’s not gender discrimination, that’s just one group telling other members of that group what to do. Still, no point in American history where you would choose to be a woman over a man.
/r/MensRights08/07/21 02:41 PM

We’ve already proven the gender bias in finance. Women receive a fraction of the funding men do. Bias proven.

No, it’s because none of them were valid points worthy of response. Wanting to make the workforce 50/50 between men and women isn’t pro-women. It’s pro-equality.

Women who negotiate for promotions or raises are 30% more likely than men who negotiate to receive feedback that they are "intimidating," "too aggressive," or "bossy" — and they are 67% more likely than women who don't negotiate at all to receive the same negative feedback. source Why do you believe that’s the case?

Being a CEO of a company has absolutely nothing to do with gender. It does though. We have proof. There isn't a bias towards men There is though. We have proof. The only thing keeping women from being a CEO is the exact same thing keeping men from being one. This isn’t true. We have proof. Time and dedication sprinkled with a touch of greed, that is what is keeping people from being a CEO. This is untrue. We have proof.

We’ve already established that gender biases exist when positions of power are dominated by one gender. Since finance is a male-dominated field, men are going to have an inherent advantage over women when it comes to securing funding. Another reason why gender equality in the workforce is so important.

There is male bias in venture capital funding. This was the finding of the Diana Project, coauthored by Brush and Greene, which researched why fewer than 5% of all ventures receiving equity capital had women on their executive teams. Women had the chops, but they weren’t in old boys’ clubs–like the Stanford-MIT clique in the tech sector–that funnels entrepreneurs toward a venture capital win. Companies with a woman CEO only received 3%, or $1.5 billion, of the total $50.8 billion in venture capi…

Has anyone ever compared the ratio of male to female C.E.O.s vs male to female founders? Yes, actually. They found that even in women-owned businesses, men often take on leadership roles. The reason seems to be networking. ”Anecdotally, we see men take the lead most when the founders are seeking external resources meaning financing,” Greene says. “If the founders think there’s some bias in the resource provider, they form a strategic front, in which case the man takes the visible leadership as C…

Yes, I’ve already said that female bias exists in female dominated positions, and the adverse is also true. I’m 100% in agreement with you on that. Yet again, a great example as to why gender equality in the workforce is so important.
/r/MensRights08/07/21 03:04 AM

Unless you’re admitting to benefiting from gender bias, how would making the workplace more equal on a gender basis fuck you over?
/r/MensRights08/07/21 02:22 AM

The same way having a female teacher could effect the average student. If the CEO is biased in your favor, would you not consider that advantageous?
/r/MensRights08/07/21 02:18 AM
-4

Yet another great example as to why gender equality in the workplace is important. I’m not doubting there is a female bias in a school system where most teachers are women. Likewise, I would not doubt a male bias in a system where most people in power were men.
/r/MensRights08/07/21 02:13 AM

That was an awesome link! This is my favorite part. Unfortunately, this position is a strawman against feminism. Feminists often point to systematic sexism (eg, the gender wage gap), rather than merely saying "hey look, the wealthiest/most-powerful people are men". Thus, they don't fall prey to the apex fallacy — because they aren't just looking at the apex, but rather the rest of the pyramid, too. Ultimately, this abuse of the apex fallacy denies the relative privilege of males over females.

8% of CEOs are female. That’s not a very dominating statistic.

A terrific example as to why gender equality in the workplace is important. We all have biases, conscious or non. Female teachers could definitely have a bias towards female students, and if the percentage of teachers skews too heavily towards one gender it would definitely have a negative effect.

We can only make “real equal opportunities” if everyone is starting off on the same foot though. If there is an existing bias in place (wealth inequality is the clearest example of this) any attempt at a meritocracy will inevitably result in an oligarchy. So in the context of women receiving more scholarships, I believe that’s to counteract the typically male-dominated landscape many workplaces have. Trying to enforce a meritocracy without addressing the existing bias would be an exercise in fut…

Feminism is a movement about bringing equity between men and women. Not a hate movement. “But some feminist was mean” Yeah, there are shitty people in every group, but I’m not going to call my local comic store a hate group just because one guy used a slur while we were drafting MtG.

Maybe you’re from another country, but at least in the context of American history, there has not yet been a point where women were treated better than men. It’s a fact that men have always held more power in our society than women, and we can prove that by looking at who is responsible for making most of the laws.
/r/MensRights07/07/21 10:58 PM

I’m not sure it’s necessarily “sexist” in that I don’t think she was claiming your life was somehow less valuable. I think it’s more to do with a misunderstanding of what “masculinity” entails. Many people (women AND men) think that men have to be tough and rugged, and that can be expressed in many weird ways. I’ve had other guys call me gay just because I use lavender scented shampoo. So her comment was definitely made in ignorance, but I don’t think it would be considered sexist.

Does the fact that a majority of scholarships go to women correlate to the fact that women have traditionally held lower paying jobs? I feel like if the goal is to bring one group of people up to equity with another, it would make sense to spend more resources on the former group than the latter.

Because that isn’t how language works. The minorities who are the targets of slurs can reclaim them, no one else can. That’s why black people can say nigger and gay men can call each other faggot. White people do not get to reclaim “nigger” nor do straight people get to reclaim “faggot”.

It doesn’t matter how you “mean it”. The fact is you’re using a term that has been used for centuries as a derogatory term towards homosexual men. Your use of it as a synonym for “weak” or “bad” or whatever is blatantly homophobic. I would rightfully expect to be called a racist if I started telling everyone I disagreed with to “stop being such a nigger”, and what you’re doing is literally no different.

Sure, but you can also tell when someone is asking the question with the intention of being rude. Like, when the girl in OP asks for height, she is just curious about the height. But when the guy asks about the weight, it’s blatantly obvious he’s doing it in a confrontational way.

I’m just saying that if it’s okay for you to be rude then don’t be surprised if someone’s rude back to you. I don’t think “how much do you weigh?” is rude. You have to pick one of these statements to support, because they are two conflicting ideas.
