TL:DR of this article You fricking fricks! Your male power fantasies can't ever be quenched! When will you learn that your memes have consequences?!?!

It helped reading about how you have experienced the same thing! Thank you for taking the time to write that and I will follow your advice.

Thank you so much for the response. It helped reading that. Tell your therapist how you feel, even if it means criticizing her. See how she responds to it. I will do this. I have tried to tell her before, but this she does not get so easily. I remember her assuring me that I had the wrong idea about it. That she had had successful, powerful men as clients who had no problems talking to a therapist. I didn't waste time on it, but of course there is a special “loophole” when it comes to going to t…

Boys are disciplined more because teachers -- overwhelmingly female -- find stereotypically male behavior objectionable. Girls are quieter, more orderly, and have better handwriting. This is what got me into men's rights. I was interested in men's rights as a child in primary school (many rants to my family as a child about how I was treated in class), and this is the reason I still care. I was easily the cleverest and most academically gifted child in that class. The other children called me He…

Do you really think so? I really don't want to hurt the guy.

Thanks for the tips. I'll probably not see him for months so I think I should text him out of consideration.

I have a question: hasn't he also dated anyone else since the break-up? He has. He was pretty clear he broke up with her because he fell out of love. And he was in a relationship again shortly after. Is there some indication that he'd still be hurt? Is he hurt every time someone else dates her? I am almost 100% positive he has no feelings for her anymore, but we are not so close that I can know that. However due to studying similar things at the same school we'll probably have a bunch of classes…

I find it a bit strange too. I understand feeling are complex and I have sympathy with that people will try to avoid being hurt/social awkwardness by making rules like this, but I didn't think people would freak out this much. In your opinion how do I break it to him?
/r/seduction16/06/13 10:30 PM
1

It would not, however I do not want to hurt him, and do not want to be an asshole.
/r/seduction16/06/13 10:28 PM

Interesting take on it. I know the "alpha/beta/AFC"-thing is sometimes frowned upon, but it serves a purpose to describe a situation. I think in your group of friends you have a bunch of confident alphas who know that they don't let girls get between them and don't get possessive about girls either so you don't need rules. However my friend and I lean more towards the AFC side of the spectrum and he may or may not be possessive of her (though I am almost 100% sure he has no feeling for her). Whe…

I understand. Thank you so much for the long response. I was just thinking that I am unlikely to run into her ex for several months if that, so you think talking to him over text will suffice? How serious was your friend with his ex you dated? Did you hate that they hid it from you, or would you have hated that he dated your sister regardless?
/r/seduction15/06/13 07:03 PM
1

Well we're not that close that I know how he feels about his exes. I don't think he has feelings for her. I think he knows she and I have been getting along well, and he didn't seem angry so that is something. I'll just have to confront him and read between the lines.
/r/seduction15/06/13 06:18 PM
1

But she might resent him if I tell her the truth.
/r/seduction15/06/13 05:50 PM
1

It just doesn't feel right to "blame" him for calling it off with her since he didn't really put himself in this awkward situation.
/r/seduction15/06/13 05:43 PM
1

Any reason?
/r/seduction15/06/13 05:06 PM

It's already been almost 3 years.
/r/seduction15/06/13 05:04 PM

I have been thinking about that. The biggest problem with the situation is that they see each other regularly at school (and as I said are on friendly terms). This is a legitimate reason for him to say no. If he says no I don't want to throw him under the bus by telling her he said no. I think I will tell her that he said yes, but that I could tell he was lying and it bothers me too much to hurt him. That cover all bases?
/r/seduction15/06/13 05:03 PM
2

There is no way I can do it without being a dick?
/r/seduction15/06/13 04:20 PM
1

My god! That's horrible! Did you end it with her, or she end it with you? How long since you broke up? Did you have feelings for her?
/r/seduction15/06/13 04:19 PM
0

Yeah, that is what I'm thinking. If he objects then I shouldn't do it. If he doesn't, then my conscience will be clear.
/r/seduction15/06/13 04:18 PM
2

Well it's a pragmatic way to look at it just weighing them against each other, but even though my world doesn't change much if we stop being friends (but does change a lot if I'm dating this girl), I'm more interested in not being an asshole. If I talk to him, make it very clear I respect his opinion (and will act on it) no matter what the reason, and he says go for it, am I still an asshole?
/r/seduction15/06/13 03:10 PM
1

Do you regret it?
/r/seduction15/06/13 03:07 PM

That's pretty terrible, yes.
/r/seduction15/06/13 03:07 PM
1

What made it shady?
/r/seduction15/06/13 02:38 PM

Were you pissed at him for doing it? Was your best friend pissed at you for staying with that guy?
/r/seduction15/06/13 02:27 PM
7

I understand. The way it happened between us was pretty silly really, because I knew the risks and I would normally not do this, but I am terrible with girls. I thought at first: "This is perfect I can just try to flirt with her because I always fail anyway, but it's great practice. If I fail (which will happen because I'm terrible) I end up not dating my friend's ex which is good, but if I succeed she is a great girl." Funny thing about not being so scared of failing is that you become way more…

I can't thank you enough for writing this! You described me perfectly in the OP. I'm a young man and ever since I became absorbed in MRA I've just had this knot in my chest. I'm scared of going out there and trying stuff. It wasn't supposed to be like this. It's time to pull myself together and not let fear rule me. I'll try to read about MRA-stuff a little less often than several times a day, and find joy in stuff again. Thank you again!

I'm guessing here, but it's probably because everyone who's ever felt like they didn't have it going as much as your average straight white male is welcome to join their ranks (to get greater numbers) in tearing down the straight white (and in the process every other color) male in as many ways as possible.

Also should there be any doubt that this man was smaller than the woman for this to happen: I'm 6'1'' and at the time was 225 pounds. I played hockey and football up until my early 20's. My ex-wife was 5'8'' and maybe 160(?) not sure, soaking wet. http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/13lopy/i_turned_my_dad_in_for_a_hitandrun_that_killed_a/c75815y1 So that's "male privilege" for you, the privilege of being beaten up, abused, raped and having the police laugh in your face.

Yes, I back the women in their struggles as well. I was disappointed that my posting history in /r/MensRights meant I didn't get to talk in /r/Feminism. I hope this sub-reddit stays above such pettiness if a feminist ever wants to come here to talk. It's as offensive to me as the "You're pro-rape"-accusation. Of course we don’t “hope” to see our idols become criminals. But hoping that an allegation is false really means that we’re hoping potential victims of sexual assault are liars. In many cases, we should actually be relieved that sexual abusers have been identified and that their victims have felt safe enough to speak out. I mean it's normal in the world to exploit the suffering of others for your own political goals, but to go out and say you hope there actually was suffering so you would have s…

Right. Well I guess we'll never know. The only things that speaks against your statements is that she admits in the article she's a size 12 (I have no frame of reference for these sizes) which is less than the size 8 and 10 the other women she mentioned right before (so clearly she wasn't painting herself as the hottest woman in the office). She also never makes any reference to women being jealous of her, in fact she paints herself more as "above it all". The pinnacle of female professionalism.…

This is not to say one way is better than the other. Completely off topic but...Actually from case to case one of them is always more efficient than the other. I'm the sort of person who obsesses over "making the right call" so instead of just doing something and going with it, in situations like that I will pay attention and choose speeding up or slowing down depending on a variety of factors, but I can say it's very rare that variables are so close that one is not obviously better than the oth…

Well then we are close in problems. I'm depressed because I'm afraid to do what I need to do to be happy. Not just about pursuing women, but about writing my book, trying harder at school, daring to be vulnerable to be better. But I'm thinking I've had enough. It's time to not give a fuck and try. < EDIT: And thanks about the name. :) Wasn't really sure about it when I made it, but people seem to notice it's a joke and I'm not an actual fan of that book.

Some of the more unreasonable responses included analyzing the OPs statements from a feminist perspective, then concluding he wasn't respecting her by not letting her choose. They are pretty buried now. If you really don't believe me I'll dig them up tomorrow.

This is true of the OP, but he posted comments in the thread that admitted it was because of the law he felt "rape-y".

Yes, I think that may be true. However I still think it's a bit strange to say that it's a woman's choice to want a man who's down with drunk sex. To exaggerate a bit it sounds a bit to me like saying: "I want a man who's down with eating my flesh, and though it's illegal if my SO is not comfortable with eating pieces of me, and trusting that I won't press charges, I might have to look for another man." Many men are rather interested in following the law for the sake of it, and I think it's only…

Yeah, I agree with all that. It's hard to internalize and act on though. Anyway as to the legal proof I know how to look up laws in my own country, but don't think this is what you want? If you read up and down this thread you can see people discuss the actual legal definition of consent while drunk for USA here.

Exactly, which is why I'm 21 years old and have never even kissed anyone. (Though I'm not saying living in fear is the right thing to do. Only that it's pretty easy to be proven right about it again and again these days.)

Oh but, she won't tell anyone in this case because she feels it's okay. YES! That is what pisses me most off about some of the replies. They literally say this. As if it's completely a women's place to have the power to send her man to jail. Is there really any doubt to that we need a men's rights movement?
/r/MensRights17/11/12 05:26 PM

Yes, I've read /r/sex sometimes and never seen anything like it. All the worst the comments are the most upvoted.

Most of your questions can be answered with the popular misconception that women as always victims and men are always aggressors. So for instance if both are drunk there can still be made a pretty good case that it's still completely the man's fault. Even if he swears he didn't even want to have sex with her (implying that she raped him as much). As for trust, we (as men) shouldn't have to trust our woman not to charge us with rape (in a situation where we legally are) because that obviously mea…

I have to admit those aren't actual quotes in the thread title, but just me paraphrasing the vein of many replies. Not sure which post fits most to the "accept her right to consent", but it's stuff like this: Frankly, if you were my boyfriend, this might be a deal breaker for me - it's sweet of you to be concerned, but I can make my own choices, and I wouldn't want to feel like I can't drink if I want to get laid. www.reddit.com/r/sex/comments/13ao81/girlfriend_laughs_when_i_tell_her_i_wont_have…

I agree with you about the actual issue, but the MR issue here to me is the sickening entitlement from women in that thread. They actually, with a straight face, expect men to put their freedom in their woman's hands to please her. And if he doesn't: Man, this is so true. Getting drunk and having sex is my goddamn right (provided my partner is also consenting). I too would dump any guy who pulled this crap. I agree - not being comfortable is one thing, but to say "Well, you could wake up tomorro…

You know, because of course women are strong independent beings who can make their own decisions while drunk, and if any man has a problem with giving her the power to have him locked up for rape any time she wants he's clearly a misogynistic, cowardly pig: dump him.

Thanks for your response. Indeed I sometimes indulge thinking that crippling fear will keep me safe (which in theory it will from the specific things I then avoid), but on the flip side living with strong fear is much more dangerous to a person than going out there. Thanks for pointing that out.

Yes, you are right about all that. And teaching people how consent works is very important. My point in simplifying is that in the sensationalist news they try to scare women with that every man outside after 22:00 could be looking to violently rape and kill them. Then some people say: dress and act responsibly. Then the sarcastic response from some women is: "Why are we teaching women not to get raped?! The Men are doing something wrong. Teach Men not to rape!" This is what is ridiculous becaus…

I thought it was a concept of women thinking any man ever could be a rapist. Not a statistic. Sorry. And to clarify I'm strongly against such hate propaganda towards men. It's as ridiculous as "Teach men not to rape". People who are capable of violently raping strangers are f***ed the head and almost all men will actively defend women (as we have been doing since the dawn of time) against these extremely few aggressors.

Though I trust them in theory I don't let male or female friends get too close. Friends of both genders normally ask me: "Why don't we ever have any deep conversations?" Once a close female friend of mine who is in a long term happy relationship showed me all the stuffed animals in her room telling me they were named after the people who gave them to her. She rattled off the names of her other platonic male friends and the message was clear. I was not comfortable even with that and did not take …

Thank you for your detailed and long response. You make good points as to why I shouldn't live in fear.
