This story raises the question of whether should be able to fire someone for their opinions. Employers have opinions on what kind of employees they want to hire/work at their business. Thats part of the point of the hiring process.

Is this really news to anyone? Or rather, is it news at all that people are materialistic...?

I have seen bigger young children over power their mother when they want candy and their mom says no. My roommate use to work at 7/11 in college and numerous time I would see this when I would go in. I live in a pretty healthy area and lots of the 50ish y/o women who hit my gym are fit, but don't have strength. Lots if women chose cardio over weights. Just because you're older doesn't mean you're physically strong, or stronger than a 15 y/o

I was 6'+ at 15. By 16 I was pretty built from weight lifting. I was never big but I was intimidating I was told.

A 200lb 15 y/o vs a 130lb adult, regardless of gender, could coerce the adult into sex. I vote for withholding judgement as well until more details are out.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
