Way safer than getting punched, assuming you don't get dropped onto your head after you are choked out. In a controlled scenario, it's pretty much entirely safe. It'll take a moment to get your bearings straight once you come to, but you can continue your day. Interestingly, the mechanism for why people pass out is disputed - some think the choke is restricting blood flow to the brain, others think it causes the brain to falsely perceive an increase in blood pressure and the brain compensates by…

I wouldn't say he's a nut, but he's definitely a pseudo-intellectual. I say that as someone who agrees with him on more things than I disagree with. He literally named one of his channels "The Thinkery" as if he's some kind of philosopher when really he just rehashes other peoples viewpoints and dumbs it down for his dumb audience.

Are you saying that someone commenting 'they were probably dressed like a slut so it's no wonder', in reference to a recent and genuine rape is just black/gallows humour?

I didn't think it was a thing until I was with a different group of guys to who I'm normally with. You may be surprised the things some men say out of earshot of people they think would disapprove. It isn't like there are masses of people being 'pro rape' per say, but there are many who make light of it or who assume 'they were probably dressed like a slut so it's no wonder' etc.

And no, you start with a hypothesis and then work to find supporting evidence. Wrong! So, very wrong. Zero marks, and further proof of the failure of your discipline to create good scientists. That is exactly the attitude that leads to the cherry picking of data found in the social sciences! You set out to disprove your hypothesis, not to prove. Either that or you take a neutral stance and don't form a hypothesis till the end, it's either or, but not what you said. Computer programming requires …

You have a degree in physics and yet say things like that? You don't start from an assumption and say it must be disproved. That's, as I said, the literal opposite of science. You should understand that. Starting out with an assumption and setting out to disprove it is the bread and butter of science. It's called proof by contradiction. Hypergamy seems blatantly obvious from everyday anecdotal experience, and is frequently spoken about by psyhcologists. It makes sense therefore to set about look…

I have a degree in physics, so I'm not certain what the inner workings of soft sciences like anthropology look like. We can't run a universe simulation and so must rely on speculating about ancient things that are dug out of the ground, so a lot of it is probably wrong. There is a huge window for political correctness to influence the consensus in 'sciences' like anthropology, unlike in the physical sciences. Women overwhelmingly value men who are tall, men who have jobs (particularly jobs that …

Yeah, I don't buy it. That is completely counter to the consensus of evolutionary psychologists and social learning theorists. There is no way the consensus among anthropologists would be different. It's also so damn obvious and prevalent, how could it not be the case that women would value productive capacity and social capital, whereas men value youth and beauty? It's a winning evolutionary strategy. The burden of proof is on those that negate such an obvious predicate. There are plenty of stu…

Women don't need to be taught that. Any anthropologist worth their salt will tell you that hypergamy is fundamental to female sexuality. Most female primates just go into heat and will allow any male to mate with her - the selection pressure comes from males physically fending one another off for mating privileges. In humans it is biologically completely different. A woman does not display any physical sign of her ovulation, so the men never know when they are fertile - The selection pressure co…

Who signs documents allowing a retired judge to arbitrate your child custody battle? Surely that is a matter serious enough that you should go to court normally, and not be televised. Isn't Judge Judy normally really small claims kinda stuff?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
