No excuse for her actions. Certainly if she were male, she'd be in jail. Yes, shame can be an effective deterrent and yes, her behavior seems not very apologetic. That said, I'm not comfortable with rage shame culture. Everyone has had moments which can ruin their reputation, and I don't trust the anger the media is selling. Don't get me wrong, it's good to bring the double standard to light, but this reactionary anger against reactionary anger seems a bit of a paradox to me.

The percent of men with college degrees has been relatively flat since 1974, while the percent of women with college degrees has risen dramatically. My assertion was that FGM usually prevents the victim from experiencing orgasm at all. Problems achieving orgasm and frustrated partners is a different degree than preventing orgasm altogether. That said, I would like to re-emphasize that both male and female circumcision are barbaric practices which should not have any place in modern society. I think it's important to not succumb to the false dilemma fallacy when considering the term rape culture. There are many misogynist and misandrist elements to popular culture, and these harm both men and women. It is all of the above. And those aspects of gender aren't always in alignment. Well put. As to the study the 20% XX Mosaicism makes a lot of sense, as does the Y chromosome from her father. I would be extremely interested if you are aware of any non XX mosaic references for XY pregnancies as this would fundamentally shatter my understanding of reproductive biology. The study definitely makes the case for the lines of gender being blurred, but the XX was still there for reproduction.

It's the gender stereotypes that are the problem and you can't fix one without fixing the other. The problem is that most groups are only concerned with fixing the side that affects them the most and never bother to address, or exhibit very little interest in the other side. The choice to devote time to raising children can't be attributed solely to societal pressure. I would be surprised if biology didn't have a big part to play in that decision.
