I pose you this question, why do we have empathy or anger? The science that you call real can at best explain how anger and empathy work, but not why they came about in the 1st place. Game theory is your best bet at explaining things like that. Now once you see empathy or anger cause you to behave in a away that matches optimal strategies predicted by game theory, you may have an aha moment and do like they do in physics. If we see a mathematical formula predicting observable physical phenomena,…

Scientists discuss possible meaning of their results all the time and make educated guesses what to research next. Not everything is researched, and if you have a very well reasoned conjecture, if it has not been disproven you have a choice whether to believe it is likely true or not. Your understanding of the world does not end abruptly when hard scientific facts stop. There is some not yet researched area of hypotheses around hard facts that you assume are more likely to be true than not.

Game theory is science. Evolution is science. Evophych is basically assuming game theory applies to some meaningful extent to interactions of large group of people, and assuming evolution is an equivalent of a mathematician searching for optimal strategies. It's no worse than a real psychological science finding 5% correlation between factor A and behavior B and then making some far reaching generalizations in their discussion of results.

If you think it's not your fault that you're in a bad situation then you won't work to get out of that situation. You don't always have control what situation you find yourself in. Thinking it's your fault in those cases is misrepresenting the truth. Thinking it's somebody else's fault may be equally false though.

How is this different from a super hot woman being irresistible to a lot of guys?

bullshit evopsych Why is it bullshit? I understand that it may be not a peer reviewed research, but at the very least it is a very well reasoned conjecture based on what real science knows.

(I replied to original thread, but my post was removed. Posting it here) I am sorry you had a bad "date", but looking for relationships is a fundamentally unfair game. A lot of people said that people should not feel entitled to relationships and while technically correct it is misleading in an important way. It equates looking for relationships and affection with a kid asking for a candy. But humans are social creatures and relationships and affection are almost a basic need. You would have a m…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
