Name an alternative that isn't equally as disgusting. We're talking about sexual frustration that requires sexual release. Believe me, I'd love to be aware of a more dignified and appealing method of releasing pent up sexual frustration. I think most guys would be too. Unfortunately, the answers to this question almost always end up self-serving for the answerer when scrutinized. And that makes them worse than the status quo. I'd love for nothing more than to be proven wrong, and I mean that gen…

I don’t believe the idea is to demonize porn, that would never work Now this I disagree with, puritanical censorship isn't a new concept. It does work, it just trades one bad thing for usually even worse things. they won’t be shamed for getting help. Do you perceive seeking help for porn addiction as conventionally shameful in the modern day? I certainly don't- at least(and this is important) not any more than seeking help for most other pleasure-seeking addictions. In that many people have a pr…

I understand that but there’s no healthy way to consume tabacco. I'm sure that there is some use above 0 that is healthy is we keep going smaller and smaller with it. Moreover, even if it was true, your capability of us making such a statement is a product of our awareness. I'm not sure I can trust the public to posses the nuance required to say "porn is bad sometimes and certain people should consume less, but also it's not bad in and of itself if you use it correctly and knowing that somebody …

I believe that spreading awareness about porn addiction to many will invariably make porn stigmatized to some(to a degree). People who are afraid of the social ramifications of their watching porn will try to seek more socially acceptable ways of releasing their sexual frustration. Simply put, I do not believe there is such a thing as a world that is aware of the potential pitfalls of porn that also does not stigmatize porn to some degree. Similar to how many people see smokers as gross nowadays…

The other reason I geared the post towards men is because I’ve just met more men affected by it but women can be affected by porn addictions. Definitely true. I would tell you that is because men do not get their sexual needs met by their relationships. Men are inherently more sexual in general. I'd claim that what you see as addiction isn't an addiction to porn or sex, it is their own biology interfering with their capacity to live what is considered a normal life. If you cut off porn, they wil…

I would be more comfortable discussing porn as a whole if the discussion around it didn't come with the implication that it's bad because it increases mens standards for women. And I am especially wary of it because of the unfortunate truth that a lack of porn will make men more willing to spend more of their time and hard earned money on women for no/less chance of any benefit in terms of sex. Because porn doesn't make men any more or less sexual- it just channels where they go for relief. I'd …

Nothing is objective. Even 'don't hurt other people' isn't objective, nor is 'people who hurt other people are bad'. Any sort of suggestion towards a particular action or behavior is based in subjectivity. This is destructive and toxic to people who interact with other people, you're right. The more individualistic world views are from person to person, the less fluid and satisfying relationships of all types become(on average). Similar personalities will always tend to sort together to nullify …
