As someone who typically disagrees with the modernized transgender movement, I respect you massively for using their preferred pronouns. Controversial as he might be, I share portions of thinking on the topic with Dr. Jordan Peterson, who has openly said many times that he will always go along with earnest attempts to transition, and that most of his stance against the movement is motivated by malicious bad actors who have joined a genuinely victimized and marginalized group for the sole purpose…

He sometimes portrays them as the perpetrators because they are sometimes the perpetrators. How stupid or narcisstic do you have to be to think you're incapable of wrongdoing, for ANY REASON, never mind something as arbitrary and uncontrollable as your gender?

I see what you're saying, but at the end of the day a movement who claims equality as a core tenet of its beliefs has no right arguing against maneuvers to bring equality further forward. However, fuck extending retirement age. Corporations want to squeeze every last second out of you before you drop dead, that's all this is about.

Children are, in my mind, the reason to even try at life. It feels really good to get what you want, but giving someone you love something they want is an infinitely more rewarding sensation. Your child gives you that feeling every time you feed them and take them to the park and celebrate their birthday. They validate an otherwise meaningless existence for us every day folk. We might not change the world, but maybe our children can. Maybe you wish you tried baseball when you were younger. Now y…

You're dating an idea. Don't let the good memories stop you. Let go...she's a fucking psycho. If a woman who is meant to love you hears about one of your greatest personal struggles and IMMEDIATELY uses that against you for her own argument, You're never going to be happy. Who are you going to turn to when you are in your lowest moments? Maybe she's there for you sometimes, but what about that one time? That was a big time. You exist to make her feel better. I mean, ultimately the complaint is that men are wrongfully portrayed as idiots and we want that to stop. No one is saying that women need to be portrayed as idiots to rectify the issue; no one is saying that men need to be portrayed as the Head of House; the only thing I'm even talking about with this post is that these portrayals of men aren't helpful. I'm not even asking things like, "why are women portrayed better than men?" because my only concern is with the men being portrayed as morons.

i think it has less to do with "men's rights" being seen as an issue, and moreso that we point out biases favouring women; crimes committed by women where men are more harshly punished; and just general shittiness that women are capable of. in doing so we are undermining the philosophical position that women are inherently good. in any case you would be hard-pressed to identify true "hate" in this subreddit. there are more men confused about their position in society, more fathers struggling wit…

The practice should be discontinued by default (i.e. only circumcise when medically necessary) but the anti-circumcision crowd absolutely demonizes the whole thing. Yeah, why would a group of people passionately oppose genital mutilation? Truly bizarre.

okay man, i don't have as heavy an approach to the internet as you, so i unfortunately did not bring my citations to the reddit comment section. i was echoing a sentiment that is shared by many - including the people who experienced it - which is that women endured less favourable social conditions historically than they do presently. stop being so standoffish; we both subscribe to the same subreddit and share an interest in male rights. no need to approach it like this

i'm not making a comment on the history of the social dynamic of "man versus woman", i'm merely saying it seems to me that women experienced a more restrictive social climate before the present day.

they are saying "Equal" in the context of the 1950s, where it might have actually made sense to make the entire section comprised entirely of women, given the disparity in "social hierarchy" between the sexes at that time. today, in the west, it is far from "Equal" by any definition, farthest of all from theirs

I could have sworn this post was going to go down the road of "boys under-report sexual abuse against them because of the social stigma surrounding victimized males" but...I guess they had other plans.

I'm not saying this to be defamatory of the users of this sub, but i think many of us are jaded and damaged and have either yet to truly become men, or have allowed ourselves to regress to being boys. Half of the users here want women to extend the softness and compassion that they receive to men, and other users want women to stop shaming men for being manly. In securing either outcome the mindless belittling of women and women's issues is not a key contributor. We have been sleepwalking for 80…

a lot of it (where "it" is the ongoing social divergence between man and woman) seems to take its roots in financial domains. i say this because i feel as though this argument came to life most prominently in the form of the gender wage gap, which asserts as a blanket statement that men make more than women, even if they work the same hours in the same job. this has been proven patently false repeatedly (though i'm not saying there are NO jobs where this is the case), and eventually - be it a re…

i agree with you as well, i believe that a preponderance of social influence rests with women. i'm in a long-term relationship with a socially conservative woman, and for that i'm most fortunate. high five for finding suitable, reasonable people to spend time with! lol but i think that a lot of the problems with the modern world (the disproportion of social influence included) can be attributed to the casual degradation of the concept of "manhood." we've been encouraged to engage our emotions an…

The same can be said of sane men...society has been raising the most sensitive and vulnerable generation in history and I can only keep thinking of Michael Hopf's words in Those Who Remain: "hard times create strong men; strong men create good times; good times create weak men; and weak men create hard times."

i guess i'm starting to lose sight of what this subreddit is for. when i speak out for "men's rights" it's not in hopes of erasing my duties and responsibilities as a man so that there is a completely level field wherein no man is distinguishable from a woman, it's in hopes that men will stop being vilified for being men. i don't mind that i am expected to walk on the outside of the sidewalk, i don't mind that i'm expected to investigate suspicious sounds in the house, i don't mind that i'm expe…

I don't know what kind of event this is, but "back in my day" you never went to a house party without a group. If you're the type of person to fight, then make sure you're with people who are willing to fight, too. Getting jumped when you're in the right sure does suck, but it sucks a lot more if you have friends to point fingers at for not helping you. This is all under the circumstance that you refuse to walk away, which I think is the correct course of action anyway. We've all likely been tha…

No, wrong. Sorry, I don't mean to come off as snarky as I have, but it's just not true. We are in our own echo chamber of misery and despair because that's the point of this sub, to highlight the injustices and general public unkindness that we endure due to our gender, but the sentiment that "strong men are good men" and "be kind to our boys" is still very much alive and well. There may be much louder groups than we, and much of their membership may have a birthright to more public sympathy tha…

in this case a crime was committed multiple times over an extended period of time. i'm not going to point fingers and accuse you of one thing or another, but i doubt you are concerned with the precedence set by this woman's conviction. if a parent had done this to their child, what would you think? the same thing? if a mother coached her daughter into killing herself, should the mother walk free? being someone's romantic other puts you in a position of, for lack of a better word, "power" in thei…

suicide is a crime speech is only free unless it incites violence encouraging a mentally vulnerable person to kill themselves legitimately sounds an awful lot like inciting violence to me it also matters that he died. there's a difference in most places around the world between shooting at someone and shooting someone to death.

having bore witness to the whole argument, i side with you. you win, it's clear. but try not to make it personal; they're differing opinions supporting different sides of an argument. i've always been told - and found myself - that the first person to resort to name-calling and aggressive behavior admits defeat in the debate. he was the first one to do this, so by default you win with or without the well-presented facts you've given to support your argument. but just try to remain objective. you…

all i'm saying is we're not going to do that if all we're doing is sitting around and laughing at them. we're not out advocating our movement, or spreading word of the idiocy that is so synonymous with modern feminism, we're just sitting here and laughing amongst ourselves. you know what i mean?

i agree that putting an end to the radicalism found in feminism is important, but i just don't see how us, a secluded and relatively insignificant portion of the internet, benefit from laughing at a feminist's absurdity. seeing this in /r/nottheonion makes sense. it's ridiculous, and that subreddit highlights ridiculous news stories. but we, as a community, should be discussing issues and the like. not laughing at others. this is all, of course, just my opinion. if the general consensus is that …

how does this relate to men's rights?
/r/MensRights25/03/15 06:41 AM

You're right. A lot of the fight that we have going on here for Men's Rights needs to be fought right here on this subreddit. A lot of ignorant, misinformed, and spiteful people somehow find themselves with the support of many others and I can only really thinkg of it as a like-minded mindset amongst too many of our members, which is not good news for any of us. Sorry for assuming you were new to the sub! All we can do is fight for what we know, be that a fight with critics, or fellow MRAs.
/r/MensRights14/03/15 11:11 PM
1

You're right. I, too, have only experienced the radical feminism to be seen on the internet and I find myself letting that image take precedence, but that's because it's the only feminism I've witnessed. As far as I know there are few, if any at all, feminist movements in my city. But I do have to invoke the "no true Scotsman" fallacy in regards to feminism, and I'm sure feminists must do the same with MRAs that they've seen.

I'm only going to say that looking for a wealth of intelligence in the comments section of a green text post from 4chan is not a very good idea. The people here are very open, kind, and accepting, and certainly knowledgeable of gender issues. You will find occasional commentors who are akin to red pillers and just other general idiots, but a lot of what happens here, and what is discussed, is progressive and favorable for both genders, though we do highlight the troubles that men face. and, unfortunately, that's exactly the argument i'd imagine anti-mra's to use. not that there's any fault in the argument, but i can hear them now: "if men had more custody than women, it'd be twice as bad because men are the devil."
