I think judges should be required to write detailed opinions enumerating the reasons they think the defendant is a flight risk or a danger or likely to obstruct justice by interfering with witnesses or destroying evidence every time they require bail.

Lol no. There are no Saudi women in jail for not financially supporting their husbands. In the US, 14% of men with unpaid child support go to jail, 1/3 of those with $10,000+. And about 1% of all women.

It's an epidemic in the US because since the Violence Against Women is Way Worse than Violence Against Men Act was passed in 1994, foreign women are automatically eligible for permenent residency if they are victims of a crime. This is one of the great dangers of the draconian bail system in the US. If you can't pay bail, you stay in jail. If you stay in jail, you can't prove your innocence.
