Agreed. I’d go the nootropics/vitamin route.

Yeah, dealing and putting with women TOO much made my brain a clusterfuck. I guess I should continue my efforts in distancing to get back mental coherence.

You’re right, she really has cut off empathy for me, something I didn’t quite realize.

You have a point on the lost cause part. In this instance I’m thinking I’m just gonna play it cool and slow down a bit.

Good question. I guess I want justice, perhaps I’m being short sighted and want to the satisfaction of confronting her now, as opposed to playing the long game. I also see the benefit of confrontation, and facing your fears, but again perhaps I’m being impatient and trying to do too much at once.

An update for anyone interested: I’m deciding against doing the session. As many of you stated, it’s a waste of my time, energy and resources and will only further her agenda. Going to further go my own way here and pull any investment in my sister.

Thank you for the post brother. I wonder why I put up with her shit for so long. I’m starting to become more comfortable being alone and like you, mostly treat people in a professional/cold manner. It’s the way it has to be considering the world we live in. Have had a really hard time accepting this cold reality, but it’s finally time I start accepting it more.

That’s a whole nother subject. However I will say there are objective truths and different points of view that will point to different outcomes, hence where my truth/your truth comes from. On more fundamental levels there are of course more concrete truths and that’s where THE truth would come in.

Hey brothers, I just wanted to say these comments have been overwhelming and I’m grateful for the support. This community is amazing and am very grateful to have a place I can speak my mind.

Thank you brother, the support really means a lot, especially for someone who didn’t get a lot of support throughout his life.

Man you really hit the nail on the head. There’s still a deep part of me that wants validation from her and wants support from her. I don’t think I’ll ever get that from her, which I would conclude would make this a waste of time. You are also really spot on regarding people taking more than they give. If you wouldn’t mind further sharing what happened between you and your sister, I wouldn’t mind hearing it. Dm me if you like.

Funny thing, last time we talked, she had the audacity to call me toxic.

I agree with his comment. Obviously there is a part of me that wants to speak my truth and knock some sense into her hence why I still would like to do the session. But I’m really begin to think it’s just gonna be a waste of my time and energy.

I think the point of the session would be to get across to her my truth and what she’s been doing, an attempt to get her to see the nature of her actions. At the least it’s a good excersize in me speaking up and would at least plant a seed of change in her. I don’t expect her to change but at least I could then say I told it like it is. I’ve attempted to speak to her one on one but that has never gone over well.

You make a good point. I still may do the therapy session after I set out terms and conditions for the session to the therapist for the session. But regardless my sister is gonna be out of my life until I see tangible changes made to reconcile things and of course numerous apologies.

Yeah, regarding the narcissism, my sister has time and time again claimed there is nothing wrong with her. She truly believes she is a victim to the extent that any actions no matter how destructful to others, are justified. And I’m really starting to question whether therapy is worth it. With all the help available online, as long as I am proactive about doing the work myself I think I’m wasting my time talking to her. I frankly, don’t trust her vision or where she’s trying to guide me, and don…

This really hit home for me man, thank you. The plan was/is to speak my truth and hope that at least plants some seeds for the future. But is that really even worth it? Is it worth it to put myself through that shit again? She could also use it as an opportunity to further her narrative/bullshit. It’s something I’m gonna think on for a bit. She’s largely cut out from my life and has been for a while. Something she takes no responsibility for, of course, didn’t have to tell you that.

Call her on her shit. Fuck with her and have fun doing so. Play the game carefully, plausible deniability is your friend. Get people on your side, gauging where people stand with her. Art of war my friend.

Thanks for the advice and taking time to comment I appreciate it. I’m going to think for a bit on whether to let my father back in my life or not. I have a tough time because he never opens up about himself or his struggles but always expects me to be vulnerable about my shit, and I’m not really interested in having a one sided relationship.

Thank you for the advice and taking the time to comment, I appreciate it. I am an alcohol so I do gotta focus on getting back on the wagon. I am just unsure of whether to go back to AA or not. The group I currently go to is littered with women now, and it’s tough to deal with their bullshit.

What I’ve been thinking about lately, is how oppression is used as this evil word. Yes when we had more “traditional” gender roles say in the 50’s, men did “oppress” women from the work place and such because the gender roles then were fundamentally based on our hunter/gatherer roots. During these times women also oppressed men. We had to oppress ourselves and go into the work place, be civil, and work to provide for the women in our lives. We oppressed and sacrificed ourselves for them as well,…
