As humans we want to avoid discomfort and our brains do everything in their power to make that happen. One way to minimize your brain yelling at you "YOU'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH" is to practice focusing on what I call the "ultra-present", that is, clear your mind of everything except saying "I like your shoes" or whatever stupid opener that pops into your mind.
