I meant that I thought you were about to admit to cannibalism or something like that. But yeah, snowballing isn't that bad either.

While you should be free to say that then it's no excuse to continue the nonconsentual circumcision of children.

I don't subscribe to that kind of authoritarianism. If the fathers don't want to take that paternity leave then they shouldn't and if they do want to then that is an issue between the parents. The state needs no more involvement.

Then the fault is with them. They have the choice and it is not the job of the state to legislate further than that, in my opinion.

Well, I was just giving an example of a real life working system. It is by no means perfect, but I would dare to say it is pretty good.

We have to live with the fact that the sexes aren't entirely equal. Yep. That's just how the world is, no one is born equal and we have to adjust to that. Now if we could only get paternity leave widely accepted in the U.S..... Good luck. :)

The fact that they are giving birth, I think, is reason enough. I mean, is there any way to have equal ma/paternity leaves? Take a look at the Danish legislation. The mother has 4 weeks before giving birth, 14 weeks after (and the father has 2 weeks here), and then the parents have 32 weeks to share between them. That totals to 52 weeks, basically a year. It is by no means perfect, but honestly I think this is a place where it is okay to discriminate a bit. The weeks to share between them also m…

For those unaware, the population of Denmark is largely against this kind of human rights violation (70%-ish IIRC), but for whatever reason the government decided to say that chopping up kids is all fine and dandy.

Not having watched the video: That entirely depends on what you consider feminism. If you mean the current mainstream SJW feminism then no; they consider anyone not part of feminism to be the enemy. It does not matter who you are or what you have done. They do not compromise and are thus a cancer to any democratic society. But proper feminism, as embodied by Christina Hoff Sommers? Absolutely. You can have a reasonable discussion with those and reach agreements and compromises based on facts.

Dictionaries and my Wiki link are crap, your Wiki link is valid! Yes because I actually link to relevant information while you do not. Anyway, you behave as expected. If you decide to take your head out of the ground you can look at my other response.

Seriously, you are bringing dictionaries as "evidence"? This is ridiculous. Here's some properly cited wikipedia articles for you to get started: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex_and_gender_distinction https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_dysphoria If you want more you can look it up yourself. Scientifically this is not completely uncharted territory. Now. You don't come off as terribly bright, but this is fortunately not a difficult concept to grasp, so please make an attempt. Tell me, o' wise one, what is the difference between sex and gender? Sex has to do with your actual reproductive organs and gender is how your brain is wired. That's the typical distinction used by scientists and academics. Are they the same thing? No. If so, why even have two different words for the same thing? We don't. No, so why two words for the same thing when it suits you? Is this where you try to say I've done something I have not, because I think this is where we are at. Gender is socia…

Gender is culturally constructed. That's a load of horseshit. You probably know that already, but now you know with certainty. We know that gender is similar to sexual orientation and part of it is biological. There's been numerous studies on gender dysphoria and the gender identity has been proven to be inherent. It's not something you change with culture just like you don't pray the gay away. and you won't sound so stupid. Just leaving that here for posterity.

It's the Nordics, they're absurd with a lot of things about it, such as Mandating that companies higher executives and board be at least 50 percent female and so on. Except that was shot down quite brutally here in Denmark. I think you are doing yourself a disservice by lumping the Nordic countries together like this as you come off as a bit ignorant.

To consider it yes. But not to say that it actually is a problem. There is a difference between a subjective claim and an objective one. Nah. To be a problem it pretty much just needs to be considered one. No.But that you consider it a problem does not make it a problem with society either. And the burden of proof is on you to show that it is. It pretty much does make it a problem if people consider it a problem. This is a sentiment I certainly agree with, but in this case, it doesn't seem to apply. Most of the "harassment" in this video (and the 10 hour female version) are really just harmless and even polite comments or compliments. I'm not sure that really qualifies as harassment. I believe that's what this video was trying to point out, what it was parodying. If it was actually harmful or offensive, I would agree. I'm sorry, clearly I missed the stats that you provided to support anything that you said. I'm not actually making a claim requiring stats here. No.It's not a problem because nobody can provide a single rational reason for why it should be considered a problem. Other than that a small group of people don't like it and can't handle words, because apparently the "sticks and stones" saying loses its relevance when some weak-minded people hit puberty. So no,it's not a problem. Because nobody but the easily offended and the stupidly weak consider it one. Right. So it is not a problem because "nobody" but the people you define as "stupidly weak" or "easily offended" finds it a problem. Of course you don't have stats to back your statement up so you should probably just let it rest. Lol. Um a label only has meaning because it holds meaning to someone. You're slipping. Not really, you just don't seem to grasp nuance or language. Congrats on finding the most impressively obvious declaration of bigotry. You'd make feminists proud. Yes, my facts and I are such bigots. Now here is a good example of how labels actually fail. Mostly meaning... And if labels matter so little, then you'd think feminists wouldn't care so much about hanging onto theirs. I mean, take MRAs for example, I doubt many care if they're called that or not so long as the job gets done. With feminists that seems to be very different. Seems like labels matter a great deal after all. A label doesn't need to mean anything to hold meaning to someone. It's senseless to hold someone to their label when what really matters is their character. Did you wat…

So how do you want to rephrase that without using the label "feminist"? If you can't then clearly the first statement is false. So lets see it... Did you even read what I wrote? I didn't say you cannot use labels, I said they are mostly pointless and what really counts are the opinions and beliefs of the person having that particular label. Sure I understand that. My point is that the military isn't just a bunch of storm troopers, and this has to be more or less concentrated in some specific demographic. Without doubt. There's many organizations within the US military and it should definitely be looked on if it is specific for some area in there or if it is general. I don't see it being a general issue, but it might be. We don't know. However I would also like to know the number of these incidents that involve alcohol or liberty. I…

Yes, it is kind of sexist in nature, just like Women's Rights are. Sadly reality is such that Mens Rights is a necessary counterweight for the former. Personally I would prefer it to be otherwise. It would be far more productive if you could not have this unnecessary split in the egalitarian cause. And we do have a term for "EverybodysRights", it's human rights.

And the people paying for the product on the French website are women seeking men. It does not matter if it is funded by ads or subscription, your analogy fails terribly regardless. It would probably hold more water if it was funded by advertisement, but you'd still be sinking. As a side note, the companies on Facebook are not just buying ads - they're buying people.

Not really. The women are there for the men. Calling the tools the women use to find them the product is like calling the salesperson the product or the search bar on a webshop the product. In fact, the actual number of nations where you can be executed for being an atheist is zero. There are seven Islamic countries where a person may be executed for renouncing Islam, which technically would include a professing Muslim who becomes anything but a Muslim (including a Christian, Buddhist, Taoist, Atheist, Hindu... anything but a Muslim). In many nations you can actually be executed for being an atheist, and if you want a US example of discrimination then the fact that a lot of states have laws against atheists holding office speaks volumes. Not even black people face that kind of proselytising today (Thankfully they don't). That's why atheists feel the need to have a voice and band together. Hello. I just posted something similar in another thread, so I will just copy-pasta some of it here to give you an insight to the legal nature of prostitution in Denmark: In Denmark we have made pimps illegal - it is simply not legal to earn money off of the prostitution of others. It is however legal to be a prostitute, but prostitution, the job, is not a legal profession- which is a strange distinction done to avoid people being forced into prostitution via other laws (to do with welfare). Sweden is very, uhm, culturally sensitive. We still love them though.

Eh, you never know. Things sometime get a little too Swedish here in Denmark, didn't know if it was the same in Norway.
/r/MensRights30/09/13 08:17 AM

Oh, I agree. Such barbaric customs should absolutely be banned. I do worry, though, that some are going to let it be in fear of being 'culturally insensitive'.

I don't believe that genital mutilation is too common in Norway, at least it is not in Denmark. Generally I think this will mostly affect immigrants.

Yes, but the rally is apparently also from 1972. 40+ years is a lot of time to improve.

Yeah, but an intelligent conversation requires words you don't have on Twitter. At least I think so.

Why are you expecting an intelligent conversation over Twitter of all places? Both of those were acting like bloody idiots.

Don't know why you are getting downvoted. As a Dane I can tell you not only is the title misleading, it is also patently false.

Idealistic perhaps, but it is the right idealism. Don't ever let those principles go.

I'm right here with you buddy. The moments we fight among ourselves are the moments the actual problems reaffirm themselves and the enemies of human rights will capitalize on it.

They are clearly not sympathizing with Jodi Arias. They are just trying to make a point that has very little to do with the story at hand, and I'd say it was poor judgement to try that.

The article however is almost entirely from a Norwegian perspective. Put up the same thing in Denmark and you will have people protesting against having their free speech limited.

I think you mean Norwegian and not Nordic. The term 'Nordic' includes Denmark and Sweden. This kind of nonsense would not get passed in Denmark.

The word “father” comes from the Old English term faeder and was first used in the 1500s. I truly doubt that. It is exactly like "fader" in Danish. I wouldn't be surprised if the word was the result of the Saxons or invading Danes during the Viking Age.

So uhm. Just bringing some perspective as a Dane here. Usually when you get a haircut in Denmark you get a women's cut or a men's cut. The women's cut is usually a lot more expensive for obvious reasons, but it also discriminate on women based on their gender and not on the length of their hair. This is an attempt to press equality by forcing the haircutters(?) to change their pricing set-up to something akin to "long hair: 500 DKR, short hair 200 DKR, etc.". I do not find it especially bad as i…
