Damn are you me? Literally everything you described happened to me, even down to "us living kind of far away" and what "seemed like legitimate reasons". How I came to find out she "wanted me to fight for her" is she sent an email to pretending to be friend that I didn't know from her school that reached out to me "because she was so sad and wanted me to fight for her". Omg it was so toxic.
