Personally I think your suggestion makes sense, however how is that enforced? Drunk driving is still an issue because there is nothing stopping anybody from actually driving drunk? The punishment isn't stopping anybody because it still happens regularly. Now imagine you are at a bar and talking to a lady. There isn't some video game type of display above her head letting you know how much she drank so how do you know what her BAC (blood alcohol content) is? I think your idea is good in theory, b…

Personally I think a large part of the problem with this discussion is that drunk is a very ambiguous term. If we look at a field like the mental health field, terms like depressed and bipolar mean something clinically. When stated in a clinical setting all the clinicians know exactly what what it means when people use those terms. Drunk however is very ambiguous. Just look at how many people either here or on twitter automatically went to "drunk = passed out" when that isn't the case. It is pos…

I agree with you. I believe there is a difference between being victimized and being a victim. Anyone can be victimized but you have to choose to be a victim and I don't see women as permanent victims.

The thing that bothers me when people take that stance is that they automatically feel that their own problems supersede everyone else's. There are important issues that women as a whole face everyday and need to be addressed. That does not mean there aren't also issues that minorities face and that men face and children face that are equally as important. Me as a black man saying "Oh hey this is an issues that faces blacks or men" doesn't mean I am invalidating, ignoring, or taking attention aw…

Personally I avoid hitting on women altogether and prefer to allow a dating partner to grow organically out of a friendship. Its lead to partners who are more compatible with me, I've found. Hitting on a stranger is basically a coin flip of "is this a nice person or not."

Touché my friend. It's that last part that really bothers me. We all have times where we need the help of others and that is life. However if I'm "overly helpful" I'm sexist because I don't think that a woman can do it on her own, and if I'm hands off I'm sexist because I abandoned a woman instead of being helpful. How can we exist with constantly shifting rules?

I couldn't even get through the whole slide show before I had to stop looking at it. If you want to talk about gender inequality look no further than this. Most of these women got light prison sentences or probation most likely because of their gender. Why are women not prosecuted for child molestation (a more serious offense) and have to register as sex offenders the exact same way as men do? Oh wait I already know the answer patriarchy.

I will admit upfront that I am not a lawyer and so this advice might not be useful or could be factually incorrect. However when I read your synopsis the first thing I thought of is they probably cannot enforce a no contact order between SPOUSES for that reason listed above. I realize currently you guys are not married, however depending on your relationship status (how long you have been together, were you planning on getting married in the future) and if the no contact has not gone into effect…

Thanks for creating this subreddit. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time and I needed that.

I agree with the OP that it should be encouraged for people, both men and women, to take responsibility for themselves and their own actions. I think that it is admirable and that information about consent should continue to be put out into the public sphere. Where I am challenged though is why is there not equally information informing women that they need to to act responsibly and are responsible for their own safety when in public. Saying that a women shouldn't go out in a public setting and …

I want to give credit to the OP, on this very subreddit a few weeks ago they posted this link which is of a chapter in a textbook in a class they are taking which gives some very good examples. http://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/18nhm4/interesting_article_from_a_textbook_used_in_a/ After reading that it should give you some fodder to see other examples in the media. One very common example is how violence from women toward men is almost always tolerated and thought to be funny while men…
