There are some expectant mother spots around here which I think is reasonable. The rest are for PARENTS with small children.

It's official -- Rosanne is now only partly an asshole. Yeah. It's too bad pretty much everyone will write this off due to the loony things she's said and done over the years. Like PETA vs. reasonable vegans...

True, however it's hard to deny that Simmons has a history of depression and, up until recently, enjoyed at least some public presence. Man, woman or other... we all need help sometimes and I hope he gets it if needed.

OK, sure. I agree. However, as a parent you want to be cognizant of any backlash that may or may not affect your son. That's what I'm getting at. Find out why it's happening before taking action.

I don't think it's necessary to video, that might just stir the pot. I've never seen this though. When my kids rode the bus (not long ago) they lined up by arrival, never separated by gender. Everyone talked to everyone else. If it's important to your kid (please don't force it if not) maybe you get there early and see what happens. If it's being enforced artificially by the bus driver then by all means rip it up.

Aw, poor little guy. It's hard enough to put yourself up for potential scrutiny. Now he's got the girl, his peers, and a bunch of adults after him. If I was the parent here I'd probably consider some counseling. This is a terrific way to start hating the world.

Being a 'victim' has become a badge of honor in our society. Just another way for lazy people with low self-esteem to be "unique" without actually being special.

But since Bieber is a man, it's... cute? No, it's unacceptable. I was simply pointing out that the output of RS has been unacceptable in many different ways for a very long time.

RS has been culturally irrelevant for decades and should be ignored. I don't know the last time I even noticed it in a store and the feminists probably haven't seen it in big enough numbers to comment.

What? First of all that's ridiculous, no one is getting fired for not reporting something which is not explicitly banned by a work place (this is open to interpretation). You're assuming that this isn't explicitly banned. In most workplaces, it is. Regardless, people are fired for all sorts of crazy reasons each and every day. And secondly of course I wouldn't prefer it, what part of anything I said implies I would. What a stupid question. To be kind, your comment is so disconnected from reality…
/r/MensRights19/09/12 06:11 PM
13

It's attitudes like this that passively approve inappropriate behavior to continue, and not just MR related issues. Conduct such as described has no place in the workplace and if reporting it to the administration results in people being fired then it was likely best for the company. Hell, NOT reporting it and someone finding out he knew about it and did nothing could get the OP fired. Would you prefer that instead?
/r/MensRights19/09/12 05:55 PM

Well articulated speaking points. They will be ignored and the request for an open discussion denied in favor of the author being labeled and chastised.

Bittersweet though, knowing that punishment of false accusers rarely happens in the US (if it's happened at all). I believe she should also pay monetary restitution for lost police resources and to the men she harmed to ease the hardship of rebuilding their lives. I also hope she receives therapy while in jail to work through her sickness. Just horrible all around.

Regardless of what activities your kids are involved in, you should be active enough in them to have an idea of what is going on. Absolutely, however you have to trust the organization you're letting your kids into. I doubt it would take very long for abuse to occur and having your kid in sight for their entire childhood is far from healthy. This is some pretty damning evidence that this trust was breached but WTG on running your local outfit with integrity.

People don't want to be labeled what they really are or be responsible for their actions. News at 11.

I do not understand the blind allegiance and apologist attitude towards the police that many in this country seem to have. I don't really care what Sheriff Littlefield is being paid, it's too much. This is clearly ineffectual police leadership. The police decline to run an Amber Alert and they have their reasons, great. THEN FIND THE GIRL AND MAKE SURE SHE'S OK. They barely even stated any intent to find the mother in their PR (in this or other articles I read, as if it was an afterthought). Whe…
/r/MensRights16/09/12 01:50 PM
4

Yeah, but it seems pretty clear that they have a nonchalant attitude toward actually leading an investigation at all due to bias/laziness/disinterest. Why would you empathize with individuals paid to be in this situation that aren't doing their jobs over a father who is concerned about his child and/or a child that could very well be in danger?
/r/MensRights16/09/12 01:29 PM
4

Problem is that the Sheriff doesn't even really know where the girl is. He just thinks that it's "obvious" that the girl is with her mother. Both the girl and the mother are MIA, and the father who had custody of the girl at the time has a broken down door and slashed tires. So his proof that the mother has the girl is a wake of destruction in her path? Nice.
/r/MensRights16/09/12 01:23 PM
12

The Sheriff thinks it's "obvious" that the girl is with her mother. Who kicked down the damn door to get her. And they seem to have absolutely no problem with that part. That's some lazy attitude towards crime you have there, Sheriff Littlefield.
/r/MensRights16/09/12 01:19 PM

Yeah, it's all the rage. This "article" is nothing more than an advertisement for Ashley Madison. It's one of the most disgusting operations I've ever read of. The members as well as the proprietors are all ugly, repulsive human beings regardless of gender. No respect for their partners, their families, or themselves. A true low point in human history.
/r/MensRights15/09/12 05:01 PM

Yes, it is a fine line from here to slander/harassment that may have already been crossed. It should be well known by now from various news stories that just the allegation of being a pedophile can ruin not only the life of the individual but their family as well. If they have proof of a crime they should be reporting it directly to the police who will hopefully be able to prosecute.
/r/MensRights13/09/12 03:41 PM
1

The point of going to the insurance company would be to put it in writing and have them lean on the cops to take a report, not to be reimbursed for the tire (or whatever other damage there was). Also worth getting ahead of it in case she decides to destroy any of their other communal property. May work, may not.
/r/MensRights12/09/12 06:23 PM

It's repulsive and whomever drafted that denial should be ashamed of themselves. But of course they aren't and it's all just a game to them. It's time to shut down these various "games" that in no way benefit society.
/r/MensRights12/09/12 04:42 PM
14

Right on then. Rip some shit up. The more I think on it, the more I think having the insurance company in your corner is the way to go. Again, best of luck.

"What a cow" Dammit. It's almost a usable interview to openly discuss MR and abuse. That line right there is all the ammo an extremist needs to write him off as a woman-basher. Anyway, glad he found someone he could live with.
/r/MensRights12/09/12 01:18 PM

Also, don't try this if you have any skeletons you don't want outed. The police/govt will be looking into your past to justify their inaction (and save face). An uphill battle for sure and I wish you luck. EDIT: Also, what about filing a claim with your insurance company and showing them the video? They might be able to lean on the right people.

Why would anyone say that? I'm sure that plenty of schools have balanced gender studies programs (the one I attended did). As said, OP is in a misrepresented womens studies class.

My guess would be restitution/penalty for "pain and suffering." Never seems to matter that the woman likely causes the suffering in just as many cases as the man. People come up with all kinds of justifications when money is involved.
/r/MensRights10/09/12 11:49 PM

Yeah, that's what I'm concerned about. You're accused, your name is public/indexed and then you have to fight for everything the rest of your life.
/r/MensRights06/09/12 06:53 PM

Evidence is irrelevant. Just the accusation often means game-over. I wonder if the cameras will even matter.
/r/MensRights06/09/12 12:19 PM

I dig what you're saying, but clearly what you're describing is an extremist. An extremist in ANY capacity or field is going to be impossible to deal with and likely wrong a lot of the time, including a MR extremist. It can't be an all or nothing thing... labeling a woman (or man) an extremist or "the enemy" because they identify with some key topics of a platform really isn't useful or helpful. See also: religion.
/r/MensRights05/09/12 11:07 PM

This is Napolitano's scapegoat, although I have no reservations that this lady was happily involved. Napolitano herself will continue to be a cancer in our government (and not just for her sexist views).

When we're fighting an absurdly uphill battle to gain at least some level of legitimacy, yes it is that important. Every word written or uttered by anyone who claims to be a part of the Men's Rights "community" will be scrutinized. This is also why it's so incredibly simple for ANYONE to troll or derail any discussions on the topic. Wouldn't you rather what you write resonate positively with the maximum amount of audience possible?
/r/MensRights31/08/12 03:54 PM

bitch I also find her to be offensive but calling her a "known bitch" is really counterproductive. Throwing out insults is a terrific way to get someone to stop listening to your viewpoint and write you off as unstable.

At this rate I'm going to install cameras on my kids when they reach the teenage years. These false allegations just destroy lives, even if they are later rescinded/proven false.

I read your diatribe and one question came to mind. What exactly do you want from this community? You didn't like the feedback, OK fine. Why come back? You are coming off as a indignant attention whore in the whole thing... someone who can't understand that there's something wrong with their own actions so it must be the community that's at fault.

I wouldn't count on it. If you get a whiff her committing any abuse in the future you really (IMO) have a duty to report it to the authorities as a professional and as someone with knowledge of a crime. Kudos to you for standing up to her in conversation.

I'm afraid I have to disagree. Unfortunately, after she kept the father from seeing his child and enrolled the child in another school district against the father's will any further contact with her would be a bad idea. Please OP, I am not a fan of bringing lawyers into a family situation unless absolutely needed but your situation is about to quickly become dire. Please do something to get the law on your side immediately.

Those of us that care are doing what we can - not letting our sons get cut. I broke the cycle with my 2 sons, my new nephew is also uncut. What do you want us to do... protest in the streets? That gets you labeled as crazy and shuts down your argument before you even get to make it. Like most things in life taking a moderate approach here is best.

Really? If it was obvious that the woman was physically attacking the man you think most people wouldn't at least try and separate them and get the story straight? The couple were just trying to help and in this case fell into a stereotype. When you're in the moment you're going to stand there and analyze whether the people are trying to mislead you or not. A bunch of people (including myself) stopped after we saw a woman lying bloodied by the side of the road. Her husband was crying hysterically over her, begging her to stay with him/awake. Barry, who’s 31, realizes his story is a cautionary tale. “When you step outside the will of God, you put yourself in a position for bad things to happen. And, that’s what happened to me,” he said. Well, he's clearly learned nothing from this debacle.

Really? Even if you set aside the fact that the forgoing of child support is NOT guaranteed in any way, this man may feel responsible for something created from his own genetics. I said, it's a risk but it shouldn't be discounted at all costs. What you described does not happen to everyone. NOT having children when the circumstances are favorable to avoid all risk might hurt him more in the long run. Plenty of enlightened men make the choice to have a family every year, even with full knowledge of how they could be exploited. For instance, myself.

Don't get married, don't have kids. Men get screwed way more on the marriage/divorce than just by having kids. Yeah, there are risks but if it's something this gentleman values then having children can be worth pursuing as long as one goes forward eyes-open. Kids can add a lot of joy to your life... they are not simply a burden or an obligation.

You have a serious reading comprehension problem. Again, this applies to the OP, not to me. He's the one who seemed nonchalant about the cost. He's looking to resolve the issue, not to talk about the cost of the phone. Tossing it in the toilet would resolve it or he could even send it to you. Who cares and why are you so concerned with how other people spend their money?
/r/MensRights04/04/12 05:46 PM

His wife bought it for him and he doesn't want it. It's easier to destroy it than to return or sell it. It doesn't sound (from his responses) like OP has money issues right now. This wouldn't be a problem for me as my wife and I respect each other enough to discuss large purchases before we make them. She also seems to have no interest in tracking my movements via GPS, and instead relies upon trust and self-confidence.

A selfish motivation implies freedom of choice, and that's not what happens to the individual. There is plenty of evidence that a large number of similar cases brought are without cause. As such, it's time that the name of the defendant be kept sealed until convicted. Plenty of other countries do this to avoid ruining the life of innocent people. Men AND women accused of these crimes deserve this right, as the wrongfully accused rarely recover any reparations for the damage caused.

Because he's a family man and he doesn't want to be a martyr. Lose at trial and they take away everything he has and 'mark' him for the rest of his life.

Imma let you finish, but I'm going to need citation on like... all of that.

I'm betting someone told the judge that he was overstepping his authority and to let it go. Hope the appeal goes through.

Grandstanding judge. There's nothing 'just' about this sentence. What a mockery of the system.

I misinterpreted the opening line of your original comment, my bad.

It's about analyzing risk. We weren't discussing the other sorts of criminals you listed, so that's not relevant to the conversation. If you asked me my opinion on them beforehand I could've provided it, but you didn't. I simply provided an opinion/additional perspective on the question posed. I doubt I'm the only one who feels that way, right or wrong.

Or we could pay people their worth, regardless of gender, and quit with the penalty crap. No? okay.jpg

What it comes down to, for me, is whether or not I'd allow a "reformed" sex offender hang out with my kids or if I'd feel comfortable having such an individual as a neighbor. I do not personally believe that the rehabilitation success statistics support taking such an action, and so I'd have to truthfully say no. Other people will draw their own conclusions.

Wrong color, wrong gender. Unreal.

I disagree. I see evidence of trolling/baiting others in almost every thread in the subreddit. There's also barely enough space to contain the smugness. r/Atheism shouldn't be a default because, IMO, it doesn't reflect well upon reddit. New users go to the defaults right off of the bat and the tone of that subreddit makes it a poor choice to welcome newcomers. But hey, it's not my site so I barely care.

It's entirely possible that r/atheism is made up almost completely of trolls now, rather than actual atheists. Many of us unsubbed long ago for that reason. It has no business being a default subreddit.

The people with money are able to keep themselves and their own out of prison (few exceptions apply). The public is trained to believe that whatever abuse prisoners suffer is "deserved". I wouldn't count on it ever changing.

You read way too much into my comment and implied meaning that isn't there. I used the word "same" as you used "equality", as the word does not only mean "identical". I'm for the same, equal rights given to both men and women. It has nothing to do with ignoring their differences. EDIT: I see another person has described it as "fairness", which is exactly what I was after and failed to convey. Thanks.

Perfect world, same treatment for both genders. Look at the world we have though.

An excellent summary of their behavior. They've derailed a bunch of interesting threads I've participated in that contained absolutely no racist/sexist themes, contrary to their assertion. Attempts to reason with them resulted in replies such as "CSB" or "OK then" rather than rational discussion. Trolls of the most disruptive kind. It was a total bummer.

The girlfriend's parents played him. Hard. Very sad.
