Legal system decides women are important care-givers. Legal system decides to be more lenient towards women, even in cases of violent crime. Convict fewer women than men. Legal system looks at statistics: "wow, look how few women are here for violent crime". Legal system decides this must be proof that women should not be jailed for lesser crimes. The logic's pretty simple and solid to my mind Yes, I think I should have phrased this as "they don't consider the dangers of the guilty until proven innocent system". People don't understand the depth of what constitutes the foundation of our current system, and how it took hundreds of years to realize such a well adjusted system.
