Here's a classic. She may be trying to shift the power dynamic in her favor she is insecure suddenly about the unique nature of your sexual relationship. Note the lack of "just ditch her" in the comments. I'm glad we found some common ground. It's important to remember feminism isn't one big ideology, there are several movements within it. The most recent variant, which I subscribe to, endorses personal choice. A woman can choose anything as long as it is not oppressing someone else. In other wo…

Anyone can be "tricked". At least temporarily. There is much more variety on TRP than you're suggesting. "No true scottsman" And there's nothing wrong with desiring progressive gender roles. So why is there so much aggression/hate towards this on TRP?

TRP has absolutely nothing to do with forcing women into the type of relationship they discuss. That's simply untrue if you actually visit the sub. When it's not an overt "how to make her submit" guide, it's a biotroofs about how all women want to be dominated (so consent to it is inherent/hard-wired). But that's not my point. My point is TRP is (at best) about fetishizing traditional (oppressive) gender roles. That's why the sub is so openly misogynistic and politically conservative. If you fin…

All I can say is read up on critical theory. You clearly have the right sympathies, praise of which I don't mean to diminish, but your views lack any foundation in theory. I'm not looking to have that sort of debate here.

Actually microaggression was the wrong term for that particular example. It is a prevalent lack of consideration, which is a part the overarching issue of male privilege. This is just a particularly trivial example. It's interesting that you're calling people bitches and dumbos, though, particularly since you're a fellow BPer. I'd be interested in discussing this more over PM if you're up for it.

I am a feminist, so I'll share my thoughts. Preferring those things is repugnant but I couldn't care less. In the same sense "only dating asians" is racist (gross) but, meh, you do you. As long as your partner consents it all checks out ethically. The issue is these sorts of things are viscerally unpleasant because they are often associated with an oppressive context. Specific to TRP, things like "submit, prioritize the man's needs, don't leave the house" are associated with unpleasant things li…

Women have and do get stoned to death for promiscuity. At the very least harassment is common. The same doesn't happen to men, I would argue since men are in charge typically. Can't harass power, ya kno?

Men can desire and order anything they want, as can a woman. That's feminism. The issue is when one tries to dominate a woman without her consenting to it, because it assumes women have less agency since the man prefers her to have less agency. I see no problem with nut paying for meals, skipping Valentine's, and whatever else. Well I don't get that, but at least it's an answer so thanks.

Sleeping around =/= a propensity for infidelity. Never said not caring is morally superior, I simply can't comprehend caring. At least not as an adult. Do RPers care about past same sex partners? Who is being harmed? Well no one if RPers were up front about their preferences and obtained consent. Instead one finds many how-tos for 'dominating' strangers in a bar. Or how to keep a girlfriend in line. Yadda yadda. If from the start you made it clear you prefer a subservient woman or dom/sub relati…

Eh, having an active partner isn't synonymous with having a dominant partner. Guys like a girl jumping their bones too. Sex doesn't need to be sub/dom all the time either. has been addressed so many times Oh I'm new, I'll explore later. proficiency in bed has little to do... It might not be linear, but it's fairly related. Even assuming no relationship, it is simply not harmful to have a partner with experience. My personal opinion on it... Thank you for elaborating. I won't push it any further.

liberal leaning people of reddit Ha I'm a leftist, thank you very much! It's too late to debate capitalism though so let's drop it. BPers don't seem to care about the possibility of being Mr #83. Really couldn't care less. If your partner is attractive and std free, the only deterrent I can imagine is one's own insecurity to "live up to" partners 1-82. why should anyone care The short and sweet is: bad ideas spread if they go unchecked. Bad ideas in the wrong hands = big yikes. I'm now realizing…

That seems overly simplistic. They are not discussing feminist issues, even if there is a consensus on disliking anti-feminist issues. That would be akin to calling /r/Futurology a socialism subreddit. It is about technology, the anti-capitalism is just a bonus.

Women are predominantly submissive in bed... And that's fine. I'd say it is driven by cultural context rather than inherent. It's important to note that rape fantasies are in no way tied to a desire to actually be raped. Fantasies are about control and choosing to be submissive. Then yes, a low count would be a plus. Really don't get this. So she can be bad in bed? This preference seems rooted in insecurity. That would be your opinion, which I disagree on. Which is fine, but is such an interesti…

I'm on board with criticizing internet-movements. Even in other realms, people need to get out there and organize. However, I do think it is good to balance action with reflection which the internet is useful for. I agree shaming men on tumblr won't destroy the patriarchy, but discussing microaggressions helps inform action at least. Your coworker sounds awesome by the way.

Interesting breakdown, thanks. Didn't know about this sub. I do hope you have your chuckle-pants on because I don't consider those subreddits to be "feminist subreddits"-- as they don't exist for the purpose of discussing feminist issues. /r/againstmensrights has a more feminist drilldown imo TBP's drilldown seems more related to having more women, which makes sense. I have noticed discussions in the sub straying from leftist/feminist values pretty consistently, though, making me suspect fewer "…

they incur all the burden of their own stupidity. Idk bro, I think that unemployed law student gets a sliver of that burden. Preferring chastity is a near universal preference among men which always is in their best interest. but why tho Now if someone ... who gives a shit. I agree? I don't care about the wellness of racists. The point is when they put preference in the ether, it's important to pair it with a criticism.

What do you think I'm trying to censor? People can believe/say whatever hateful shit they want, I just think it is important to respond "hey, that's some hateful shit".

majority of women prefer the company of strong (mentally and physically) men People prefer healthy and intelligent people. I don't think this is gender specific. having a low partner count shows she has standards and values her body and acknowledges that it inherently has value to men And this isn't true in the reverse roles? Does a man having sex not value his body? I mean it's sex, not self-mutilation haha. And "inherently"? There is no "inherent" value in anything. Many people value more expe…

I don't think preferences are above criticism, though. If I preferred to only socialize with white people, I may not hurt anyone but that preference is rooted in a prejudice which may prove problematic down the road. At the very least, it legitimizes prejudice somewhat to say "eh it's just a preference". I forget the name of the organization, but it reminds me of a RP bedfellow which emphasizes rejecting women all together (with the exception of sex on THE MAN'S terms). A strange boycott of half…

Would you mind describing the non-internet feminism which you support? EDIT: I mostly agree when discussing internet activism, but it's interesting you draw a distinction in beliefs based on the medium.

Yup, the blue pill is just anti-red pill. Oddly enough, TBP has surprisingly little overlap with feminist subreddits (which I see as bad thing, but I digress), unlike say/r/againstmensrights. TBP is really just about reacting to how horrible TRP is.

It sounds better, but not fooling anyone really. It just hides the red flags. What people find offensive about TRP isn't sexual promiscuity. Have your casual years, who cares. Be poly-amorous. Don't celebrate Valentine's day. It's all good. The issue is asserting that women should have less agency and "submit" to the man's will. She should be a virgin (some sort of retroactive loyalty?), she shouldn't want monogamy, she should prioritize her man's individuality over her own desires.

It's worth noting that academically, women are well represented in STEM, particularly the sciences. We're talking +40% of PhDs (which is a huge drop from BAs, but still). The real issue is the job market, where that 40-something percentage halves. Before anyone says "they just decided to have babies and marry rich", we're talking PhDs. No one wastes over 9 years of their adult life for nothing, these women are out there and want these jobs.

To properly do a STEM degree you need 100% motivation and confidence in yourself at all times or at least most of the time. Come on now. Talk to anyone in grad school and you will hear tales of insecurity, imposture syndrome and doubt. I think the only prerequisites are enjoying the work and wanting to do it (and getting past the various gatekeepers). "you have an innate aptitude for it, don't worry" This is actually discouraging for children. Check out the work by Carol Dweck. Unrelated to your…
