That sons were more important than daughters. That I had a choice between having a career and being a stay at home mom/wife. That woman do the cooking and cleaning, and men were exempt from it. That women had to stay skinny but it was okay for men to be big.

I feel ya. My first therapist I had was really against treating me with meds (I had anxiety and depression at the time). I went to a psychiatrist though and he prescribed me meds that really changed my life honestly. Before I had really bad social anxiety and couldn't go to school but after the meds I could attend college and even hold down a job. It's obviously not perfect everyday but it helps.

Research even shows men prefer women less intelligent than them and they feel immasculated if she makes more money than him as well. Sounds like the man's problem more than the woman's. I don't think it's very accurate to claim a whole demographic has a certain type. Every guy I've met were really varied in what characteristics they find attractive in women. The most secure guys I've dated did not mind if I had a job or worked at home. They viewed either as a valid option that I could decide on.

Have you gotten your depression treated? Your mental health may have had a bigger impact on you disliking mechanical engineering than you think. Personally, I suffer from bipolar disorder and whenever I forget or am off meds I grow a hatred for my major comp sci and have a desire to drop it. I get stressed really easily without my mental illness getting treated. Maybe you can look into professional help because it can make a big difference in your quality of life!

But all this is men with power vs men who don't. Is it really misandry?

Oh gosh, this applies to me 100%. I would be content living alone with no kids and just have friends/pets than marrying a guy who I just settled with.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
