This has nothing to do with men's rights, despite the tragedy. How would improved rights for men have prevented this woman from killing her own child? Equal rights for genders won't magically prevent psychopaths from being psychopaths The woman is in prison for life too so it's not like she got off easy compared to a man committing an equivalent crime.

This absolutely happens. There are husbands, wives, and other partners out there with black eyes, broken ribs, and worse inflicted upon them by their partners, but they still perpetuate the relationship and say things like "I love you". Abusive relationships have complex dynamics involving fear, denial, low self esteem, and other issues that will cause victims to forgive or ignore the faults of their abuser.

Sociopath means that you lack empathy, ie you're not able to properly understand emotions or emotional situations.
