I'm older than you, childfree and married 32 years. I don't have a maternal bone in my body when it comes to humans, animals another story. But today's 20 somethings are screwed. Glad I didn't bring forth spawn into today's mess. It will only get worse for those have kids now and forward.

Getting married is more work for a woman and kids are a burden. So live it up then tie yourself down.

There are plenty of people doing volunteer work, people marching and protesting for change, etc. You make it sound like you are the only one and you assume no one else is doing anything.

Not exactly. If a Roman Emperor wouldn't have converted and heavily, cough cough, endorsed it, Christianity would be a localized middle eastern cult.

I'm passionate about my husband. But I'm not responsible for society and have no vested interest since I'm childfree. This is the best time to be alive in the west so I don't know what you're going on about. Stop romanticizing the past. You sound like my dad who loved war movies. Lots of people are passionate. The BLM movement, religious movements seeking converts, volunteering. So I suspect your frustration comes not from others' apathy but from your lack of personal satisfaction. Get a hobby.

There will be increasing serial monogamy and the idea of lifelong monogamy will die out. Further muddling the waters will be open marriages and multiple partner marriages.

If men and women were happier in marriage then the divorce rate would not be 40-ish percent. That leaves also 50ish percent currently married but does not take into account married but considering divorce, legally married but separated, married but stuck, and the ellusive happily married.

No. I married at 18 and have been married 32 years. Both of us went into marriage not wanting kids.

We were childfree from the start.

The studies I've seen suggest better health and bigger income. But these don't necessarily mean that marriage increases their personal happiness.

I fail to see the relevance either. Both my nieces, 17 and 20, were born to a single mom. If OP is under 25, he very well may have been born out of wedlock.

Seven years of marriage is nothing really. If you add kids into the mix, your elagalitarian guy may regress.

Most men and women are miserably married. But most people, men and women, who get married think they will be different. Men and women are blinded by the marriage myth.

I love my husband!! We tuck each other into bed. I put a hole in his sandwich so I can drop a kiss into it. I pull his finger so he will fart. And we play like kids.

It's called the "Grey Divorce" and I don't think it fits in with any pill.

See above and stop dating "rinse and repeat" guys or be single. Your reply addressed nothing in my initial response. But since you mentioned cheating, guess you aren't aware that the gender gap is rapidly closing anf men and women cheat now at about the same rates.

"I feel like a lot of men are lustful and confuse that for love. When the chemistry wanes as it naturally does after a short period of time, the actual work of the relationship has to be done. Here is where a lot of relationships go south." Apparently you did not read the study finding that women in relationships bore faster than men. "So what’s the answer? Do we just keep ending relationships, starting new one, etc etc. when really it’s the same problem that will keep repeating itself." If you …

"Yes, because they don't really "love" their partners. They were just attracted to them, and some people conflate the two as being the same thing." But to CMV, you cannot determine what love is based on your feeling and definition for everyone else. People who need their partner to look a certain way cannot help their preference, anymore than you can change your idealistic view on what "love" is.

"They became beautiful/more attractive to me as I grew to know them." I'm married and agree with most of your premise. But what I've realized over time and talking/observing others is that people love and maintain attraction in different ways. This applies to both men and women. Some people can love the person as a whole. These are the type of people who stay happy with their partners over the years, through aging and weigh fluctuations. Then other people require a certain look to stay satisfied…

Edit: Oops. Thought I was replying to the guy hasling me for not having kids. So now you regret not having kids. I can understand that. But what you regret is as much fantasy as reality. You mentioned I post pictures of my pets. Assuming you think this implies regret on my part. If I had kids they would be grown, living their own life and I'd still have pets. People are optimistic and assume the best. I guess you are picturing that Mothers Day brunch with your imaginary kids and perhaps grandkid…

So do you have kids? Why so much concern over my being childfree. Why is there no focus on my husband who'sevvasectomy was so many years ago that it is now irreversible?

I've already told you I have/had no desire for kids. The clock has run out and during my 20s, 30s and 40s the biological clock didn't even beep once. Friends and relatives had kids and I just didn't care.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/05/21 06:20 PM

That makes no sense. I didn't want kids because I had no desire to be a mother or raise them. Nothing to do with "save the earth" mentality. I did enough babysitting growing up to know that kids will suck the life out of you.

Well my husband didn't want kids either. It's not just women opting out of reproduction.

Childfree woman by choice and married 32 years. I don't have a maternal bone in my body for kids, and prefer to pets. Marital happiness decreases for years after having kids and I prioritize my marriage.

I always wanted marriage. So I dated and screened for morals and compatibility. When I found a guy I liked with good morals, I married him. We have similar morals.

It doesn't matter what I thought I brought to the table. My opinion of me meant nothing in relation to how he viewed me while dating and engagement. Really this is a question only my husband could answer. And as I said earlier, most people marry based in how they feel at the time. Edit: I mentioned marriage to him, he said yes, and here we are. That simple.

Been married 32 years and no one goes into marriage with much logical thinking, except the UC who have attorneys and advisors looking out for their client's present and future interests. Most people marry based on how they feel at that time, assuming that their feelings will never change.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
