I mean, sort of bad, but pretty sweet. It’s dirt cheap and I love it. Just isolated right now. I’ve been talking to a friend of mine about moving out here. Her housing situation sucks and I think she’d do well out here. I wouldn’t want to burden her with too much work, but I’m sure she’d be down in sharing the garden labor always and dog sometimes. I hope it works out.

I’m 9 miles down a dirt road, in a house with no interior doors. Off grid, with solar and a well. Not the lifestyle for most people. Lots of complex systems I built. Sort of a weird situation that makes this harder.

Been subscribed there for years. Good advice though.

Yep. I asked many times to stop yelling. She had years. I said that not yelling was a prerequisite to healthy emotional communication many times.

What I mean by dark stuff is that cataclysmic thing people do when they’re feeling hopeless. I’m definitely processing the stuff that’s going on. I’m just not trying to have a make out session with a firearm. Overall, I’m feeling like a great weight has been lifted in some ways. Life will be harder in others for a while but I know this is the right choice and will give me the chance to focus on meaningful self care.

I just got a text from her: I want to get myself sober and stay that way and not yell and be with you. I’m standing my ground. Holding firm.

Thank you. I’m reaching out to more friends. Trying to feel less isolated.

It was very much a conscious decision not to go to town for more today. That’s my number one self improvement goal.

I used to play bass for many years. Guitar too. Just got rid of them when I was in a small place in the city. Still have my trumpets but you can’t sing and play those together too good. I did write what I think is a decent song though. I posted a video of it to @offgrid_living_tips on Instagram. It felt good to sing it and it just sort of fell out of me very easily.

I’m 550 miles from family and 150 from friends. We moved out here recently and I don’t really have a local network yet. I’m gonna see if I can have some friends come out from the city if they can spare the time. The truck I have that wasn’t stolen is an ancient project and has broken leaf springs and is burning oil pretty bad, and overheating. I’m trying to avoid taking it anywhere but to town for groceries. I’m waiting on insurance about the other truck, really need a reliable vehicle.

Definitely correct about it being dead for a while. Time to bury it. I ran out of alcohol yesterday and it’s 9 miles to town so that’s a nice barrier that makes it easier to not get more. I have pot but I’ve never been a fan.

Thank you. I’ve been worried about overwhelming my friends. Many are mutual friends with my wife and she needs support maybe more than I do. I pulled the rug out from under her. I know I need support too, and some friends know how she treated me. If I still had a guitar I probably would write some songs. Maybe I’ll just sing and see what happens

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
