Again, you’re selling disappointment. “The problem is something within yourself”. Really? Then I guess in your scenario, convicts, rapists, pedophiles, domestic abusers and serial killers should not have girlfriends/wives/mistresses. They do. There is no rhyme or reason. Your premise is specious, equally as fallacious as “you’ll find someone when you least expect it.”

You're selling disappointment. I'm 36M, soon to be 37M in a few months, I'm not the "broke single man". I make $250k a year and save a crap ton of money. I'm average weight, slightly under-average height (5'7") and put the time into dressing decently. I work remote since I own my own business. Dating apps are next to useless, but I have minimal ways to meet the opposite sex. Please stop telling young men to "level up". It makes zero difference.

I have a somewhat similar story. Many years ago, I went to Brazil, but before I went, I met this Brazilian woman on Facebook through a mutual “friend”. Anyway, we started talking everyday for nearly 9 months. Fast forward to several weeks before the trip and she starts to become distant. I get ghosted. I end up never meeting her, which stung, but I still had a great time. Rio De Janeiro is a nice city, one that I would love to return to. But what happened with that girl was definitely a learning…

NYC is one of the worst dating markets in the country. Women here think men have it easy. However, the gender imbalance that the media fixates on doesn’t happen until women are in their late 40’s. If a guy is looking for 20’s and 30’s, there are far more men looking for this. There are more “single” men in their 20’s and 30’s than there are “single” women of the same age. This was in the census data.

Men aren’t dropping out of the workforce because they can’t find a wife. The vast majority of the decline has to do with boomers who are retiring. They’ve seen death from COVID and have recognized their own mortality in the process. They’re in their 60’s and 70’s and are leaving the workplace in droves. Younger men may have fallen behind in education when compared to women, but they are working. They are working to make money for themselves. What is changing are young men’s priorities. They are …

Several explanations. More women are comfortable coming out as LGBT and are dating within their gender (whereas men are not because of norms governing masculinity have not changed…yet). Women date older men, which does not explain this fully because there are still more single men than single women across multitude of age ranges. Women are not truthful with posters when they say they are “not single”. “Not single” could mean anything, from meeting on another person for three dates but believing …

"Men need to be better." You are also confusing dating and romantic success with the Just World Fallacy, which says good/noble/morally decent and hardworking people are rewarded, while immoral, evil, wicked, dastardly people are punished. Other words for this are "karma", "getting your just desserts", etc. It comes from theological Protestant roots, and it is quite baloney, to say the least. Sorry to say but dating/romance in general has a lot to do with luck/serendipity, and not so much to do w…

1) because growing up, society tells straight men that they will “get a girlfriend” if they simply hit all the markers (go to school, get a good job) etc, like it’s a video game. This is reinforced by movies and the media. When this doesn’t happen, it’s a societal contract that’s broken and breeds resentment. They were lied to by society. 2) The markers of personhood for straight men is to be able to be good with women. This means getting into relationships with them and have girlfriends on a ro…

The Internet, most definitely. Social media and dating apps make it so much worse, but the Internet is the cause. Before the advent of the net, people would be forced to meet others through social circles, work (now a very risky endeavor) and community events (which has now dried up due to the Internet). You were not competing with the world to find your spouse. Your spouse was not competing with the world to find you. You had maybe 4-5 different people to choose from in life to get married to, …
