Going to chime in with my experience. Im a 42yo woman and recently left my ex and his people pleasing tendencies were a huge part of it. I got so drained from effectively being in charge of the relationship. By trying to constantly guess what would keep me happy he ignored his own needs and would then get really resentful. Thing is I wanted a partner and he wasn't being that. The reason I'm sharing is there's a huge difference between a nice guy and a good man and I found out the hard way. I wil…

I can't speak for Brazil as I'm UK based but going from my experience here its important to be Media literate. By that I mean understanding who owns the media channels you're absorbing and do they have an agenda. For example many people think that the UK has no freedom of speech. We do. But certain outlets are twisting things. So for example a woman was arrested in Scotland for breaking a buffer zone outside and abortion clinic. The headlines read woman arrested for praying. She's free to go pra…

I'd suggest taking a compassionate view of yourself. That goes along the lines of Im not who I want to be yet, but I am doing better than I was before. Or "I fell back into old ways of thinking, it happens, Im human, I'll learn from this."

Its tough but he has to make the choice to believe you. You can be consistent and keep showing your care. However please do it in a way that doesn't cause you to suffer.

One thing I want to point out is if a woman can get laid easily if she chooses but that doesn't mean finding a good relationship is easier. I've met men who have told me "any hole's a goal." They'll happily shag a woman they wouldn't consider dating. And my take is that there is a lot of really shit expectations on everyone. There's a lot of men who say they don't want to date women over a certain height and weight. There's podcast bros telling women if they want a man they need to hide their ac…

The whole thing about the Red Pill is it assumes that women only have worth for sex and procreation. It doesn't talk about any other role a woman might fill. So I'm in my 40s now and child free. I love spoiling my nieces and nephew. I do 2 jobs, one as a therapist, the other supporting vulnerable people access support. I provide friendship. I support my husband while he's starting his business. In short, I contribute my time to building the wellbeing of others and I believe that benefits society…

So being attractive does not mean someone male or female is good in bed. Previous relationships have not worked out for a reason. The person you are with has that experience and is still choosing to be with you now. That is the thing you focus on.

My take on it is some middle aged men aren't dealing well with how the world is changing. Growing inequality if affecting more and more people and those who were doing ok before are now struggling and looking for someone to blame. Men used to have more jobs available for them and were respected for doing jobs such as garbage collection or factory work in a way they aren't now.

Yes thank you. I took a few years off dating, learned to love myself and done things I'd dreamed about like travelling. Doing that solo taught me a lot about myself. Its been 8 years and I'm engaged to a great guy and studying for a new career. My life is so much better now but it took a lot of healing. I hope you're doing well to.

I've been in a codependant abusive relationship before. I was 16, I'd been bullied in high school, and I told I was ugly and had no self-esteem. None of the boys my own age were interested. Then I met my ex, he was 30 but he told me I was different. That he could see that and made me feel special. It didn't last but by the time his true colours showed he has already isolated me from my friends. When he didn't get what he wanted he punished me through either starting fights or giving me the silen…

Sorry its hard to always capture nuance online. I do understand that it's not all men, it's probably not even the majority. But those who think and act like that are vocal enough to give the feeling that I discussed.

Yeah the lack of empathy is frustrating. Men see women getting chased after and think wow I wish I had that. They associate high levels of interest as desirability in themselves. What they don't realise women are rarely persued for who they are, it's not that the women is desirable in herself, its that the man wants something from her. It's the equivalent of a shark chasing blood in the water, doesn't matter where it comes from, and all it means is lunch is served. I have heard men say any hole'…

Just to add let's flip it and ask are RP standards for men realistic? Men are expected to be unemotional, be rich, have loads of sex and look like a body builder while they're at it. Doesn't seem realistic to me.

There are different types of therapy. If you went for person centered the idea is that the client talks and the therapist uses prompts to promote self discovery leading to change. Cbt is a more practical based therapy aimed at giving clients tools to help them change. It is more of a quick fix method. Psychodynamic is delving deep into childhood and how it affects us now. It's a lengthy process. All methods have pro's and cons. Essentially the point of it is by having an indepth non judgemental …

I agree that some female spaces on reddit do encourage unhealthy discussion. There are subs dedicated to posting the worst experience with men and it creates a bias towards seeing the worst everywhere. However some of your arguments I believe have missed the point in what a woman was saying. A woman says she expects her partner to have a job and an idea of what he wants from life is basically saying a requirement for dating is he is a functional adult. I don't see how that is in any way unreason…

I dated a 30 year old at 16 (in the UK so i was "legal") it wasn't a healthy relationship and I lost out on quite a few things because of it. I'm 39 and the thought of dating someone 14 years younger is disgusting. We'd be at completely different stages in life. At the time I believed him when he said I was mature for my age. I know he enjoyed boasting about having a much younger gf.

The Redpill is a mix of truth and lies. The problem is learning to sort through it. Work on yourself physically and you will feel better and probably be more confident as a result. This leads to being more attractive. However RP doesn't really address doing work to be emotionally healthy. The girl you mentioned might have been genuinely interested in you, did you share interests and have good conversations for example? What happened around the time she left, did she have a change in personal cir…

Yes you can, be respectful of your partner and honest about your intentions. Plus do what you can to make sure both sides enjoy it - the orgasm gap is real, and yes you can not only have hookups but are more likely to have them.

Thanks for sharing the article, it's an interesting read. My take on this is that while the majority of the article refers to behaviours such as weaponised incompetence, the emotions that are unattractive in this situation are unregulated outbursts, or tantrums.

I recognise men face those challenges but I don't think that saying it balances itself out in this instance is the right way to phrase it. I recognise because of my gender I am likely to face some discrimination when applying for certain roles. I can also recognise that men can lose out on fatherhood due to circumstances related to their gender. They're both shit, but they do not cancel each other out. I would say its more different faces of the same old gender expectations coin. The one that me…

To flip the argument, what's in this for a woman? There's decreased security for her and her children and higher risk of disease. For the other partners he's less invested in giving them high quality sex. From a biological stand point the survival of the human species requires both birth and successful child rearing. Successful child rearing tends to happen best in family groups. This requires trust and bonded relationships. Plus on a really practical level, I hope any guy doing this can pay chi…

Men are unlikely to be judged on whether you will have children's when you go for a job - former recruiter and I have had hiring managers refuse to hire women of child bearing age. Its not legal but it happens. It might be useful to look up grey rock tactics for dealing with him. In short every time you react to him you're fuelling his desire and he's feeling more and more justified in his beliefs. Best way to look after yourself is to limit engagement. I know its tough but there's not much you can say or do that will get through.

My take is different, it can take time but a big give away about whether they're doing it for reward is how they react when you don't accept their act of kindness, or the kindness doesn't benefit them. Some examples was on a date with a nice guy and I complimented a pregnant woman's dress he later asked me why I had done that, he couldn't understand I was being nice withno expectationof reward, plus I genuinely liked her outfit. As both a woman who used to do this and someone who dated a nice guy, yes, you're right. The world we're in doesn't encourage people to develop self-confidence, the exact opposite, in fact. In my experience, we're not encouraged to find out who we are and what makes us happy. Instead it's get a good job, get married, have kids ASAP, keep the boss happy and never question if any of that is right for you. If you don't know yourself it's harder to find the right partner. I didnt get much information when i read your other post so I'm going to ask some questions. How well do you know your crush? So sex is complicated. First of all, many women enjoy sex. But generally avoid casual sex as its just not worth it. The risk outweighs the reward due to the orgasm gap. In a relationship yes there's a range of scenarios, our sex drive can fluctuate through the month due to our hormones. So there are times women are more likely to want sex. However as a broad baseline women need to feel turned on in order to enjoy sex, this happens when a partner puts effort into making this happen. The thing is,…

I understand you're hurting and angry at the people who hurt you. You need to take time out to heal. From looking at your post history, you've had a brutal time of it recently, and it sounds like it's really shaken how you see yourself and the world. I'd suggest doing some work on yourself to understand why you dated abusive men, by healing that you can move forward. Looking at attachment theory might help. The thing is, it's becoming rarer for sole income houses. This has several knock on effects - women don't need men for stability in the same way they did in the 50s and often both partners are working yet often the majority of housework will still be done by women, especially where there are children. The rp completely ignores this reality though. In doing so it's putting women under more pressure, to both earn money be a good housewife and regularly satisfy their husbands needs while there's no…

Stop referring to him as the love of your life for a start. You deserve better than a guy who was chasing a barely legal girl while in a relationship with you. That says more about him than you. For me, my life began again at 31. I got out of an abusive relationship and found that even at 31 and plus size plenty of men were still attracted to me. I'm now 39 and getting married this year. I've worked with survivors of Domestic violence and it's really complicated. The abuser is charming and loving to start with but over time it starts but the really twisted bit is that they make their partner's believe that they deserve the abuse. Look what you made me do, it's your own fault. And often by this point the abuser has isolated their partner so they don't have anyone to turn to, no help to see what's going on. Yet often the partner stays because they hope things will get better at th…

Part of the issue for the vocal community not getting dates is they often see women as status symbols at best, at worst they dehumanise women to objects. And women aren't willing to be seen the same way now. There is also the problem that young men feel have been left behind with movements such as me to and also late state capitalism is stripping them of value. People in general are having to work harder, to have less than previous generations and its hitting young men hard as they're still grow…

I saw the survey you mentioned and while it won't account for all the difference, researchers did note that there could be confusion around the definition of relationship statuses. For example on insurance forms your relationship often isn't counted until you are cohabiting. This means that there's potential for people to think that terms mean different things which can skew the data. As I said it doesn't explain the full picture but it is a potential margin of error.

I met my partner when he was 34, before me his longest relationship was 7 months. He'd had some experience but not much. Didn't move out of his parents until 29, had lots of fixed term jobs but was just getting by. We've joked that if we had met when we were younger we wouldn't be together as I'd have looked at things like him driving a corsa, being into dance music and following a certain team as fitting a bad Scottish stereotype and he does admit he had some of the traits of that stereotype. FDS is an absolute cesspit. You should despise it as much as the rest. The way men are divided in high or low value is usually just based on income, although they try to pretend there's more to it. It is teaching women to be leeches and that's not helpful to either men or women. Things I read there included "don't have sex before marriage as why buy the cow when you get the milk for free?" My partner had never had a relationship last over a year before meeting me when he was 33. If you're unhappy, why do you have to get her to end it? Are you conflict avoidant in general? Also I want to point out a relationship is a partnership not a competition. So the dating app data doesn't tell the full story. Firstly there's lot more men using the apps than women. Men were asked to rate how attractive women were and there was a broad spectrum but they mostly focused on the top 20% they found attractive and were unlikely to message someone they didn't rate as attractive Women only selected a small number of men as highly attractive, but they were open to messaging men they rated as unattractive if there was something else on his profile they found in…

Its something that builds up over time. One thing to look out for is how does he treat others? If he treats people well that he isn't trying to impress that's a good sign. Also does he have empathy, can he consult how it might feeling in someone else's shoe's? One to watch for is "nice guys" who are the type who are nice to people in the expectation they'll get something back. The difference is if they don't get what they expect they can become really resentful.

Honestly dating as a woman can be awful. First loads of men just see you as a walking hole and direct quote "any holes a goal" second a number of men don't respect you, some don't even see you as human. That's before you even get into meeting men with similar values, who are on the same page about kids and life. I know men have different challenges in dating and it's harder for good men to stand out from the crap. There are some Chad types who are the full package. They've lucked out good looks …

I was hoping you'd go in for specifics. OK some woman are looking for the Chad types, alpha male etc ignore them. What most women want is a man who is a functional adult (clean, paying his bills etc) shares some interests with her, sees her as an actual person and is going to be a good partner. I would suggest having a conversation along the lines of "I watched the videos you mentioned and some of it really worried me because (put your specific reasons in). Can you tell me what this means to you?" Depending on what he says, you can point out that you thought you had shared values, but if he sees you as a lesser person than him that doesn't make you feel loved. Let him tell you how invested he is. He might not realise just how bad things get.

You are coming across as wanting someone unattractive because it's a security blanket for you that she won't leave you because she won't have options to do so. My point was that women were generally looking for things they could connect with in a partner over, such as shared interests, over looks.

I'm sorry, but I find that really depressing. I'm 5"3 woman and dated a 5"3 guy cause he was caring and funny, he was the one who broke things off. Most women care more about personality and how good a partner you are than looks. I know women taller than their husband. The only time the article refers to women divorcing for financial reasons has been when they are already separated. The reason for this AS STATED IN THE ARTICLE is to reach financial resolution, e.g. finalise living arrangements etc rather than living in limbo. Women usually end up poorer after divorce. RP would have played into many of his beliefs and insecurities. Looking back, he took advantage of how naive I was and also that I believed I was unattractive because I'd never fit in at school. I spent the next 15 years trauma bonded, constantly trying to prove I was good enough. He used many abusive tactics, such as undermining my self-esteem, silen…

If you dig into statistics on dating sites then that is not giving the full picture. The stats that are often quoted are from Ok Cupid, which was mostly for hookups. For examples the majority of users are men by quite a number, so this skews what female behaviour may look like because of the small sample size. First of all, unless a man is saying what he earns and what his penis size is,, then there's no way of knowing if there is correlation between those factors. All that the 10% of men thing …

For me, I've ended up hating the system rather than those caught in it. We live in a society that basically reduces self-worth to how much we can produce. Due to changes in the last 50+ years, the traditional role of men has been eroded, and typically, both partners need to be earning. But being a sole breadwinner is seen as a status symbol. Men face more competition for jobs and that's meaning that guys who were previously guaranteed jobs are falling behind. And they feel they've nothing to off…

I'm with my man because my life is better with him. I'd reached a place where I was content, I had my own place, a decent paying job at good friend's and was too bothered about meeting someone. I don't wanna kids. Then I met my partner. We have similar goals but the thing that stood out from me was how kind and considerate he was. On our first date, he briefly put the grand national on to check the results and ended up letting the staff watch it with him and having a laugh with them. I judge a m…

I didn't go through all the comments but want to point to what I see as the difference. The man goes to the extent of avoiding going to a female cashier, the woman says she is done with relationships. That's quite a difference. The woman isn't so scared of men she completely avoids all contact.

There are some differences that are unable to be reconciled. Personally having a partner who thought I was a lesser being than him because of my genitals would be one of those. Respect for each other is generally a basic requirement for a successful relationship.

You do raise some very good points. Late stage capitalism is turning everybody into commodities. Men are perceived to be doing well when they have a good job, earn good money, have a six pack away a beautiful woman. Women are perceived to be doing well when they are super attractive and popular. So I can understand why there feels a disparity there. When I would say that while there are people out there who expect men to be the breadwinner, it's not as common as you think. Your problem isn't that you're not tall, rich or extroverted. The problems is you believe that's what women want. I'm a woman, I've dated a guy the same height as me (5"3), I've earned more money than most of the guys I've dated and can only handle extroverts in moderation. But I can tell you there's nothing appealing about men who see me as a potentially parasite looking to take their money. I have no interest in being financially dependent on anyone.

There are news stories about this which took a study out of context. The things that make a relationship last are rarely based on looks. Most people in general are looking for partners who have similar values, who are kind and caring and will go through the hard times together. There is the stereotypes of men trading in for younger models, but the answer to that is know what you want. Definitely a good way of opening a conversation is to ask about interests a woman has mentioned. And yes it is showing that the guy is genuinely interested in me rather than playing the odds. Comments about my looks, like your so pretty or worse comments about my lips (usually the next line was where they'd like to see those lips go) or boobs etc were red flags that they were looking for sex only.

Judgement like that is really unhelpful. No one is at fault for being abused and mindsets like that just means more people are afraid to speak up or seek help. It can really hurt being rejected like that. The thing is that you as a person is about so much more than just one person's perception of you. You would be surprised how many factors which indicate attractiveness is linked to wealth. Having self worth, recognising your needs and having boundaries will help you to avoid being manipulated. As an example of this you may say I need to see my friends at least once a week or get time to myself. If someone doesn't accept boundaries then avoid them. Correlation doesn't equal causation. For example people who are virgins at marriage are more likely to be religious and stick out a bad marriage because of their faith. So in that case it would mean that on paper the key to a long marriage is a low number of partners, but it's not considering whether the marriage is a happy one.

I'd argue that even in your own statement you've provided reasons why redpill is bad. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50. In your own statement you say that you've been told by other men you shouldn't express your emotions because it makes you look weak. Suicide is strongly linked to feeling isolated, unsupported and hopeless. If more men were allowed to seek support then it would likely have a knock on effect on Suicide rates.

Think absolutely what's on your list in a partner, e.g. kind, good career, takes care of herself, enjoys outdoor activities etc and then think what would be on her list in a partner. So in the above example are you working on yourself, would you be a partner to the woman on your list? As an example I had a conversation on a dating site with a guy who was waiting for a woman to come into his life and then all these magical things would happen and he'd do so much, but current worked and gamex and …

There's other ways to have a good life than money. Personally yes I'd like to be secure and comfortable but beyond that money doesn't give my life meaning. It doesn't give me connection with other people and it doesn't give me self worth. The things I value and the person I am dictate those.

Respecting boundaries is a green flag in dating. If someone goes into a huff or worse when I say no to them it shows me I was right not to get closer to them. Especially in a scenario where sex might be involved, if something doesn't listen when I say no there's no chance I'm going to put myself in a potentially dangerous situation where a man ignores my no and doesn't use a condom or tries to make me do something im uncomfortable with.

Life is getting harder, costs are rising but wages aren't. Working life has changed dramatically, jobs which were traditionally respected are gone. There's more competition for the "desirable" jobs now. Added to this society is changing, more and more women are working and they're part of that competition. So this is having a knock on effect. Men who in the 50s say working in a factory got respected and they earned enough to provide for a family. Now that same factory worker is seen as someone w…

The problem with your statements is you're assuming just because women have options on Tinder, they're all good ones and that the value of the man is determined by his status, and that the man is offering something long term. I could go on Tinder just now and have an offer for a shag by lunchtime. But such an encounter is likely to be bad for me, going on past experience and research https://www.psychologytoday.com/gb/blog/insight-therapy/202205/the-truth-about-casual-sex. Lots of cultural beauty standards are related to wealth, we just don't realise it. I'm Scottish and am really pale, here it's considered attractive to be tan - you have time to sunbathe but when I visited Vietnam they thought my skin was beautiful, because pale people were the wealthy ones. It was a real shock to me when I was getting strangers coming up asking for pictures with me and the guide explained they were fascinated by my skin and were saying I was beautiful.

I've known a couple of women who freaked out that they were running out of time but generally they were more interested in ticking boxes than finding good partners. So it was more important to get married then have kids than to find someone who suited them. However the majority I've known would prefer to be single regardless of age than date someone not right for them

True but he was still elected party leader and ran an election campaign with him as leader. While technically he wasn't voted in as prime minister the way a president is, it amounts to much the same thing. Especially the way the tories themselves jumped on Boris and told the world Boris would save them.

Boris Johnson (UK prime minister) is an example of this. While his wife was getting cancer treatment he already had a mistress. He eventually left his wife and married the mistress and people still voted for him to become prime minister. If a woman had done the same can you imagine the headlines? There'd be no chance in hell she would get in power.

A good starting place is learning to show yourself some compassion and be gentle to yourself. For example if you wouldn't say something to a friend don't say it to yourself. Start each morning by putting an arm across your chest and pushing down slightly (enough to feel some pressure) and saying out loud "good morning (own name) and start learning mindfulness to notice the bad thoughts you're having. I have to ask do you really want to change? It sounds like where you are is familiar and comfortable. Above any time someone offers a suggestion you found a way to reject it. The way you describe your life sounds awful, I can't imagine how much pain you are in living that way. However the first step is seeing that change is possible and believing you can do it. It takes work. So you have to choose your pain, stay stuck or go through the painful process of unlearning your hatred.

I've seen plenty of insecure people who think once I get a boyfriend/girlfriend life will be great, I'll feel better about myself etc. Yet when they get a partner they're so terrified of losing them their insecurity actually gets worse. I think that more realistic expectations would benefit everyone. There's a myth sold that once you get into a relationship your worries are over, all your problems are solved and it's happily ever after time, and it's all bollocks. Being in a relationship changed my problems. Yes it's wonderful having someone to support me but being in a good partnership takes a lot of work on both sides. As someone's said above there's a range with feminism. Feminisimn does not equal misandry, many people don't understand the difference. At its core feminism is about equality for both sexes (more recently there is recognition of trans/intersex/non binary to) yet it is often mistaken for being about trying to replace men. There's extremes out there and places like female dating strategy are cesspools, so I'm not going to say feminism doesn't have issues. I hope that there are women who've recogni…

It sounds like she's looking for validation after an argument, but not in a healthy way. Rather than attempt to reconnect with you she is trying to "punish" you for arguing and gets reassurance from online attention. In a nutshell that's the problem though. It's the fact women are seen as the gatekeepers. That's why women are so often blamed for being raped as they provoked it by that logic. There's certain signs to look out for such as how they treat others, how much they rush the relationship and love bombing which can indicate they may be abusive but ultimately it takes time to get to know anyone, which is true regardless of gender etc. As an example you'll only see what your partner is like when stressed when dealing with a crisis. A lot of the Asshole guys didn't come across as Assholes to begin with though. At the start of the relationship they presented a front that was lovable and many women get trapped in an abusive cycle where they try to behave in a way that will get the guy they thought he was back.
