Wow. I could have written almost the same thing.

That same group tends to disappear quickly as soon as your wife starts to learn she will not get everything and that alimony will not be twice your annual income. My wife’s own cheerleading squad was saying how great it would be and the shock she had when the 50-50 custody numbers for child support was almost funny. She thought she was going to live the life she wanted, but would have had to settle for only several hundred a month.

Friends and lawyers egged them on, tell them to imagine all the riches they will get and then shockingly realize that most states are now defaulting to 50-50 custody so most of them have to get a job as the largess of child support is no longer there vs the previous 90-10 splits. One of the best decisions I made was going with a female lawyer who was a working mom herself so she was quite a bit more aggressive in fighting the dreams.

I have seen most lawyers for women put in their complaint filing automatically; most judges don’t even care unless actual proof is provided and even then it really doesn’t change anything because things are split according to state formula.

I find it hard not to laugh when 'therapists' are diagnosing mental states when never even meeting the subject they are diagnosing. My wife's therapist years ago tried the same thing and I called her on it and she back-tracked quickly as she learned her license would be in jeopardy for not using proper diagnostic methods which would include actually meeting me. If anything, it is your wife's assessment that she attributed to the therapist to justify her own actions. Like you, my own therapist sa…

Unfortunately you are in the cheap stage of the process, the two way discovery process will burn through a bunch more and prep for mediation/trial prep accelerates it tremendously. The more you can arrange information and do the work yourself the better.

My female therapist said similar, she said I showed the signs of long-term abuse and how I seemed to keep going back for more out of pried and trying to keep things peaceful. If the roles were reversed, there would be so much support for her, but there is no support for men who endure this day to day.

Especially when I was paying a cleaning service to keep the house clean and babysitters because she was “too busy” as a SAHM.

Sounds like my situation. Somehow she imagines that she will get double of my take home pay, the house and never have to work. No concept of reality in terms of money.

My wife put the same narrative on how mean and abusive I supposedly was but had no problem leaving them all with me for out of town trips, concerts or evenings out.

Wow. That sounds so familiar as I am going through it now. Claims she is too busy to work with all the lunch dates and engagements with friends and over the last few years as the kids have all gone to school she doesn’t even do any household chores while the are gone as she does it to avoid interacting with them in the evening or expecting me to do them.

Still in the process, but what my wife claims she is going to get based on her lawyer is amazing. Not sure any judge would give alimony at twice my annual income and having me pay for the house too.

I am surprised they do that for very obvious lies that are easily disproven with financial records, video recordings or their own social media posts.
