This is an interesting point. I once worked at a Software Company, in which I was required to optimize a legacy program. It was written about 40 years ago, when the company paid Developers per line of code. And, you could tell the original Developer filled it with bloated garbage just to increase his pay. Same here, paid twice as much, but I do around 3X the amount of work, I also start first and finish last, and I often work late into the night to make sure code deployment goes ahead on time. Meanwhile, they are last in, first out.
