This is literally what I needed to read today. I’m effectively 3 months out of a LTR and have found myself developing feelings for a suitor. I’m not putting forth the effort. I’m prioritizing myself and allowing him to do 95% of the work. He knows where I am mentally and with the last relationship. He knows my boundaries. As long as he respects that he can stay in my life, and if he doesn’t I won’t be so attached that I can’t see the forest for the trees. In other news I’ve decided no one else w…

In my very very brief stint with OLD men would ask me that via text.... even though I have chef as my profession in my bio. Like for FUCKING real.

Only commenting because I saw this today, and it’s fresh in my mind. Agreed, however, I give a pass to the “Army Wife” sticker I saw on the back of the Denali today that was colored with the pride flag with the lesbian couple getting out. Yes ladies... y’all rock 😆

I too am glad someone gave her that advice on Reddit. Someone told me that once here and I bucked against it for a few weeks, saw the light, and left him bc I want marriage one day (amongst other reasons). Not beating around the bush in these situations is the best.

I already posted my weekly level up check in. But I wanted to mini celebrate. I went and got a U-Haul, loaded it and unloaded it all with just minimal help from my BFF. I did it ladies! Heavy furniture and all, no man needed. I’m going to post in r/FemaleLevelUpStrategy once my room is set up as my mini oasis, but I imagine it will take a couple weeks to do so.

If you are a bath taker I HIGHLY SUGGEST a bath caddy. They can turn a quick soak into a several hour affair. Lol. I won’t link a specific one because it’s all about the features you want, but one with a wine glass holder and phone holder is amazing!

The make a fake deadline one works!! When I blocked my ex I told myself it was only for 90 days. I even counted out what day 90 would be. Now I don’t even know what day I’m on. I’m guessing it’s somewhere in the 40s, bc day 90 was some time around Thanksgiving. And I have ZERO desire to unblock, contact or anything. It’s pretty cool 😎

Noooooooo. Girl noooooooooo. You don’t have to “settle” just because you’re plus sized. Don’t just “chose a boring guy”. How are you currently meeting guys? OLD? I know the world is insane right now, but I would suggest trying to meet guys while doing activities you care about or through mutual friends. OLD is a shallow/vain world. Skip that and go for the IRL stuff.

Weekly Level Up Check In: I’m day 9 no vape! And honestly, I miss it less every day. I missed it the most after eating but now I’m over that for the most part. Plus I’ll save like $30+ a month on juice and stuff. No job interviews last week, unfortunately. However I sent out 15 resumes and got two response emails to schedule interviews for the coming week. I’m doing my best to not stress about money. I know the right job will happen at the right time. Enrolling for Spring 2021 is going well! Sti…

I think that’s a very reasonable response. I personally think it’s a act of service that is of value. This may be due to my time working as a chef. If a “layman” can cook a meal that makes my heart sing then this is indeed something special. But it’s a grey area that would depend on your own experiences. And I think it’s up to all of us to decide what’s of value for us. I also think that a HVM is made up of many things that are of value.

I’m newly single and tried online dating for approx 2.5 seconds (really about a week) and I realized I didn’t have the energy or healing for it yet! I steady have other dudes in the DMs and I’m blocking Left, Right and Center. I’m looking to making myself as holistically high as it gets before messing with anything with a penis

That’s perfect! I made a bumble/tinder for like 2.5 seconds and noped out because I’m not ready for a relationship. But I’ll keep that in mind for when I decided to seriously start looking again. If I do OLD

You’re very welcome! And good move to come here and comment instead of reaching out to him. What you did is more than okay. It’s more than the right thing. It’s the healthy thing. You removed a toxic person from your life. Of course you feel sad! You lost a friend, and it’s a perfectly normal reaction to that. Be sad. Embrace the sad, it proves that you’re a human who feels emotion. Then move beyond sad. You’ll be okay. We are all here to lift you up.

Is it bare minimum though? (genuine question). To me, cooking any random dinner, picking up cutlets from a restaurant, or buying them premade from the store would be bare minimum. I think taking the time to learn how to make a dish exactly the way she loves it is of value.

Quite frankly u/whiterabbit818 has said all of the things I wanted to say. A final note I was going to share is that when you feel the urge to text or call him. REACH OUT TO A GIRLFRIEND INSTEAD. Or even post here. Comment. Use us in the place of him. We will be better support either way.

Not OP, but I am also bisexual, and there is a certain “bi-phobia” in the LGBTQ+ community. It’s actually tough and discouraging to try to date women as a bisexual woman.

I’m so glad that you are cutting that guy out of your life. He sounds like a super toxic LVM. I’ve come to believe that falling in love is not an actual thing. I think you fall into infatuation. Love is a state you work towards. If they think you fall in love in two weeks they are asking for a world of hurt. I hope your interstate move goes well! I loved moving across the country. It was the best thing I ever did.

I was just thinking that. And then I remember was I was very very sick while we were together. (Mono - 99% certain I got it from him) and he literally did nothing for me. Didn’t cook me meals. The best that could be said was he didn’t bother me to cook. Except I did... while sick with fucking MONO! I lost 20lbs and would sleep 16 hours a day and got up to cook for him. Ugh. So yeah, if I’m having to go at it alone with a partner... I’d rather go at it alone, alone.

I can’t speak about an IUD, but I have had 2 implants. For my second one I was 4-5 months into exclusivity with my LVEx. I asked him to split the cost of it with me and he was a complete asshole about it (should’ve been a red flag 🚩). He did end up splitting the cost because I was dead set on it. Not to beat the weighted blanket to death, but did you have the right weight? It should be ~10% of your body weight, especially your first one. (I’m 135 and mine is 15lbs. 12lbs was too light). Also do you have any other humans in your quarantine bubble? The other day my (female platonic) friend and I gave each other a solid 3 minute hug because we both just needed physical touch. It was nice. Also, I’ve been spending more time physically pampering myself. Like really taking my time applying lot…

Generalizations are generally true... obviously some of the largest metro areas are a slight exception to the rule. The ratio of HV/LV is the same though. But I’ve lived everywhere from the country to mid and major metros and I think this to be a good general rule. Now to figure out how TF west coast guys work.

As a southern transplant to the west coast, I find that the south has a bigger disparity between the HVM and LVM. Like the HVM there are VERY high value and the low value men are pretty much ZERO or -2 value. Whereas on the west coast I find LVM like to hide in a HVM cloak like a wolf in sheep’s clothing. They hold on to the mask MUCH better here.

No. 2 is what I was going to comment on here. A HV friend will always be honest with you. And the honesty is the most important when you are doing something that it’s harmful, LV, or wrong. A good friend will make sure to tell you when you are on the wrong side of moral grey area. If they don’t then you don’t need them!

Background: I eloped in my early 20s and had what I call a “starter marriage” that lasted only a couple years. We split neutrally (didn’t remain friends but no animosity) and left with essentially what we started with and/or brought into the relationship. Unrelated to the early 20s fiasco, I just (less than 2 months) got out of a LTR with a LVM. I want to have a wedding. I want to have a beautiful expensive dress, big ornate flowers, delicious food, and dancing all night. And after some thought …

I’m still a newbie here too so someone who has been around longer can give a better answer. But I would say, yes, you are moving too fast. And maybe you “messed up”, but that doesn’t mean you have to continue to mess up going forward. I would take a step back. Lift up your chin. Straighten your crown. /r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/09/20 07:26 PM

Sure I meant financially noncommittal. I should probably have been more clear. I refuse to split bills ever again with anyone. But I do want a period of living together to see if we can live together before marriage.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/09/20 06:34 PM

Mine is hypothetical because I’m not looking due to focusing on my own level up. 1-3 months: dating and discussion of if he’s marriage minded. 3-6 months: exclusivity. At this point still vetting want to make sure he’s keeping up his end of things 12-18 months: financially noncommittal living together. (This is the kicker for me..) 18-24 months: engagement (I want a 18-24 month engagement Bc I want a big wedding). 36-48 months: marriage.

I was just going through the same thing after ending a relationship. I decided that I had to focus on one over the other, which unfortunately meant “settling”. Girl this. We so often get caught up in the potential instead of the reality. I think you made the right call

As my friend told me the other day “He 👏🏻 is 👏🏻 not 👏🏻 allowed 👏🏻 to 👏🏻 miss 👏🏻 you” (and she actually clapped) If you’re going to miss some one then treat them well enough that they’ll never be gone.

Oh my gosh are you me?!! I made the same housing mistakes. Walking away from little equity in a divorce, that’s now huge equity. And walking away from the house I made a home for four years while I did 99% of the maintenance. Never again. It’s a long term plan. But i will own my own home one day. I will never count on a man for housing again.

Thiissss. My recent ex said “he didn’t break up with me despite being no longer sexually attracted to me because he was comfortable” And that is 100% my fault. I allowed him to be comfortable. Never again. Never. Again.

When they ask what’s your favorite position I take a page out of Miley’s book and say “CEO”

Thank you so much!! Affordable is big right now bc I’m trying to make dollars stretch in a HCOL area. And I know I need therapy. I was in therapy for years before recent ex and wasn’t while I was with him. Never again. Therapy will be like eating right and working out for me. The kind words mean so much to me. I’m feeling very alone right now because I’ve lost most of my friends during the breakup (isn’t it funny how they isolate you). I know I’ll be better once my feet are under me and that’s w…

It’s so freeing! I’ve also started a big list of things I can do now that I’m single and I’m knocking them down one by one. Even simple stuff like eat cheese and crackers for dinner (I made him a full blown protein/starch/veg dinner every night and desserts like 2-3x a week). I will never again play wife without a ring. Ever

Yes... for 8 months almost. But really the last 2-3 months. And it made the month since the breakup surprisingly easy. Like even friends and family are shocked at how well I am doing. Not that I haven’t had a few “lie in bed all day” days, but mostly I’m good.

I started a list like that a couple days after my recent breakup and I haven’t added to it since. This is giving me some serious motivation to go back and expound upon what’s there. Thanks for the post

I just got out of a toxic relationship about a month ago, and I’m spending at minimum an hour a day doing exactly this. So far: I’ve lined up a place to live. I was willing to monthly AirBnB until I found the right place, then I realized I should set myself up for financial success. So I’m renting a room in an older couple’s home. This will free up money for me to invest and save for the future. I will never again depend on a man for housing ever EVER again. I have been readmitted into college. …

Before I met my ex I had always lived in my own space. Paid my own bills. I moved in with my ex and was dependent upon him for housing because of the HCOL. Worst mistake ever. Now I’m renting a monthly Airbnb (no regrets) while I look for a permanent place so I could get the HELL out of there. I will never do that again. I will always have my name on the lease or title of anywhere I live. (Also he used to throw “this is my house” in my face all the time when we disagreed on something. I’m so ang…
