So if it's not simply a cultural thing, asking women to negotiate/ask for a raise sounds to be quite literally against their biological makeup and seems unfortunate to me. 0	Female genital mutilation is illegal and gets this exposure, male genital mutilation is legal and thus gets little exposure even even children die! (I did not see reports of the boys who have died and been mutilated from a 'legal' procedure) Circumcision is male genital mutilation. There's no way around it. And women die from it, too. The difference, I think, is that female genital mutilation leads to her being completely, 100% unable to experience sexual pleasure whereas male genital mutilation leaves the penis fully-functioning most of the time. 1	Well that was fucked up. You might not be an academic, so perhaps it's an unfair question, but why else wouldn't they? There's no denying that many (of course not all) women are raised to be sweet and non-confrontational. They're taught to be nice, not argue, be friends with everyone, etc. And asking for a raise from a boss that might not want to give it to you (not because of you, but financial reasons or what have you) goes against all of that.	/r/MensRights	27/07/12 06:02 AM
