Fleshing out the straw feminist. When given time Maybe I will dredge out more of the misadric tripe these people spouted. But not right now. I'm tired, I just got a pizza and reading all that stuff screws with my mood. Maybe when you have time you can take responsibility for your highly upvoted post and edit it to reflect the criticisms of your citations? I mean seriously, even if we ignore how badly out of context most of them are: two of them were literally never even said by the women attributed, one is a straight-up misquot… | /r/MensRights | 01/02/13 05:34 PM
Fleshing out the straw feminist. However on quick glance many of that persons supposed refutations of the quotes I gave here are just other quotes. Look harder. A quote taken from a fictional character in a fictional book A misquote of a quote that was never even said by the person attributed A quote where the attribution is suspect An out of context quote A quote taken out of context by the Time article it was published in A quote from Valerie Solanas (hard to put the issue here into a bullet point) A misquote also taken out o… | /r/MensRights | 01/02/13 12:40 AM
Fleshing out the straw feminist. You might want to double check some of those citations; a lot of misquotes and incorrect attributions: http://www.reddit.com/r/againstmensrights/comments/17ng38/fleshing_out_the_straw_feminist_wmore_straw/ | /r/MensRights | 01/02/13 12:11 AM
Feminism shows it's true colors: Attacks trans-women for claiming women are more privileged. Then I'm confused as to how you discern which terminology you deem to be valid, and which you deem to be "thought-policing". | /r/MensRights | 17/01/13 07:41 AM
Feminism shows it's true colors: Attacks trans-women for claiming women are more privileged.Yes, I'm well aware of the euphemism treadmill. I'm not really sure the point you're trying to get at, though. Do you think I was implying that those are the most suitable terms in perpetuity? How can I resist laughing at that comment and for you even knowing that sub existed then let alone the motivation to post? Again, I know me saying it isn't worth much. And given the circumstances I'm willing to concede since I think it was a bad decision to make the post either way. What is important is to… | /r/MensRights | 17/01/13 07:30 AM
Feminism shows it's true colors: Attacks trans-women for claiming women are more privileged. You sure about that statement? Absolutely. It was fairly clear that Lordx87 was unclear on suitable terminology, and aside from the jabs at feminism, his heart was in the right place. I really did mean for my comment to be informative and non-judgmental. The comments I took issue with were by r_rships_accounts; the only reason I included Lordx87's in the link was to provide context. I even made a comment noting that he sent me a PM and was really swell about it. An unforeseen consequence of maki… | /r/MensRights | 17/01/13 02:08 AM
Feminism shows it's true colors: Attacks trans-women for claiming women are more privileged.I'm not sure about vast majority, but I do know that some trans people use those terms for themselves, and there's nothing wrong with that. But i have also heard some say they do not appreciate that label. I was making the suggestion to a cis person who was clearly unsure about correct terminology that it should be wise to limit usage of those terms in such a broad manner. As for gender identity, I honestly don't have the energy to delve into it, but I will just say that in cases with ambiguity … | /r/MensRights | 16/01/13 04:25 PM

Feminism shows it's true colors: Attacks trans-women for claiming women are more privileged. This language comes from the trans community, and a good faith attempt at being inclusive doesn't include arguing with them about how they choose to be identified. | /r/MensRights | 16/01/13 02:25 AM
Feminism shows it's true colors: Attacks trans-women for claiming women are more privileged.Heads up: This is not modern feminism. TERFs (Trans exclusionary radical feminists) are not welcome among most modern feminists. I do agree that any men's movement should be inclusive of trans* individuals, but it shouldn't have anything to do with an opposition to feminism. Also another heads up if you want to be more inclusive of the trans* community, a good place to start would be brushing up a bit on terminology. I'm not trying to judge - these concepts are unfamilliar to a lot of people, bu… | /r/MensRights | 15/01/13 10:32 PM
