Looking back, it's obvious I have a thing for STEM ladies. Even the fine art painter started as one. I haven't cared about income for a decade... going from acceptable to broke to very well off made me understand the very random nature of that.

Look, you can and probably feel like that about everything at several points of your life. That's because life simply has no meaning. And that's... great. We are here now, alive and conscious. You, me, all the people of the world, we are the result of an endless stream of improbable events. If sex, relationships, dating don't really matter for you anymore, you can change your goals. After all, if there is no way to find a real purpose for life, nothing stops you from setting your own. I know. My…

Casually talking with a group of girls I considered friendly one of them asked me if I thought "x" was cute. I answered yes. She was not there but we attended the same classes and I was making a fatal mistake: there came the harassment charges and the collective female pitchforks. Almost got expelled. I had to fisht back on court to be granted my degree. They even had to hand me reparations but, what reparations pay for a dead dream? Because it didn't matter how free of charges I was. For three …

Be someone worthy of what I have now. So I'll have to fund a couple of cures for rare cancers, defeat amyloid related diseases, engineer a new Green Revolution and build the European version Blue Origin or SpaceX (Read this while listening to the Mission:Impossible main theme). Better get started.

You've actually made me think about it... until I've realized my past me would never someone like my present me being... well, me. In fact, I wouldn't change the path that leada from him to me. It's been painful, lonely at first, fraught with failure at time. But it's been worth it.

It's funny. Determination and sacrifice for the wellbeing of the family were my grandfather's true redeeming qualities. He managed to rebuild some lost wealth and prestige and when even that was put in jeopardy he swallowed his pride and asked me for help.

My grandfather's family lost most of its wealth after the world wars. He still disinherited mom for betraying him to marry a lowlife. There is something about the attitude of the traditionally wealthy/powerful that doesn't entirelly disappear, ever.

I hit pay dirt when I was 23 years old and I know what effect discovering I could coast my way through life had on women that wouldn't even look at me twice otherwise.

I do have an infant daughter. Even if it borders heresy to think she will be a woman one day... It's our responsibility, as parents, to raise her to be a full adult human. If she choose to date someone older (like her mother and grandmother, by the way), it will be her call. I am more scared about what a perpetual sheltered/victim status could do to my little girl, to be honest.

It's so funny how women try so hard to rationalise their impulse to force gender roles upon men... Say, wouldn't be easier to simply state: we don't like non normative men. That's it. There is no shame there... maybe a problem with asking to be free of gender roles yourselves. But no shame at all.

Caveats: mom comes from a wealthy family, turned poor (read, middle class) after WWII. She gave my grandfather the middle finger and married dad... a mechanic, 11 years her senior. Well, he was, indeed, college educated but everybody knows you need money to live and he's always been really good with making things. She went on to work as a banker and made the money to sustain the family. Now, I am married to a CEO. My brother married a doctor, though

Yes, it is. The spread of haemophilia is just an example of what a closed gene pool looks like. It's not even the most extreme case, go take a look at the life and general health of the King Charles II of Spain, the Bewitched, and shudder. History is littered with powerful rules who were ugly, incompetent or simply insane. Not fit genes at all. If you want a broader view, a particular man or lineage of men rising to prominence is more about sheer luck than anything. Then regression to the mean h…

If you are reproducing, you have biological fitness. That's it. Evolution doesn't care if you suddenly drop dead after impregnating a hundred women, as long as your offspring is also capable of doing the same. In fact, you would be enormously fit.

Empiricism. I've seen my fair share of strong, independent girls and women lose their minds for some useless stereotypical bad boy. There was no culture there, just raw desire. At the same time, a subset of women chose to have sex with me. The unassuming, law-abiding, nondescript nerd. What the hell, a woman that could probably have had Chads by the dozen chose to keep throwing comically obvious clues at me and ended marrying me. So, after the crimson dawn the blue day came.

This. I am bland. Seriously. People have a hard time trying to describe me. Generic white dude with a funny accent tends to be the best they are able to provide. If I were to try online dating, it would be ego-killing. But there must be something about me, after all, because I did enjoy more than the expected success with women and I am married to a woman that... let's just say many heads turn when we go out together with our children.

Oh, she's an anomaly. And I am something so different from what I envisioned I would be now that I sometimes wake up thinking the last 10 years have been just a nice dream. So, I am an anomaly in my own right. Do you want to make an effort to try and find some anomaly of your own or do you choose to surrender to entropy already? After all, the universe doesn't care what you do, so you could do something fun/useful for you instead of lamenting the smallish deviations observed on female behaviour

My wife started to claw her way up from a young age... and she wanted to marry, or at very least LTR, my apparently poor ass because she had other priorities over hoarding resources, ironically enough. What made the difference? She had the privilege of almost bleeding to death in a car accident. She jokes about it, saying that she was lucky to not be a vampire so the stake didn't kill her; but taking a hard look at the void beyond is a lifechanging experience for anybody.

It could have been a business convention of sorts, she was raising funds to taking her company off the ground at the time. But I suspect the mutual first impressions would have been very different. Shitposting or not, both Trump and Brexit show how malcontent people usually end cutting their noses to spite their faces. I am the son of a woman 11 years younger than her husband, and I am married to a 5 years younger, quite well off woman. Male, purple. My shortest: around 12 hours. Now, she was a clear outlier. With my wife, it was 4 years; mainly, because I kept missing clues the size of blue whales. Hate to break it to you, but according to the latest World Economic Forum data, your only edge over Spain is your much better energy supply. Whim? Sudden? Take a look at the German population pyramid and repeat that. The open border policy is a cold calculation to avoid Japanese-style trap of stagnation and decline further along the road. That's what makes her more of an ahem a statesman than the majority of her colleagues. Ignoring the problem would net her a 5% from AfD now... but nothing more.

She was born in East Germany... Of course she has no love for the dominant, Marxist, interpretation of feminism. Furthermore, she's a paneuropean conservative. Even if that makes her a lot more liberal than any American Republican; and probably many Democrats... total subversion of existing socioeconomical structures for it's own sake isn't her thing. I would loke to agree. Seriously. In fact I am married to a wonderful woman whose plan for our relationship was to provide herself; she can do so, she paid for the rather expensive rings that make us look like techno-spellcasters. But the male role is still very much the provider's one. Proof? The best way to kill most women's was to say I was unemployed . Technically true, by the way. Nobody's ever had me in their payroll.

That's pretty vaque. Unfortunately, and as you noted, it's quite difficult to distinguish between general assholiness and confidence at first. Once she's already invested time/money with him, he will be able to dial up the pathological behaviour and she will keep rationalizing it. The point where someone says to the blazes with this, it's not worth it! varies greatly. Ever heard of the sunk cost fallacy? It's really difficult for humans (note the term) to admit we made a mistake, especially when we invested a lot on said mistake. You are not the same being as you were several years ago. Literally every constituve molecule of your brain has been discarded and replaced by other molecules in a gradual but inexorable process. Even if a lot of information is conserved, how we process and access said information changes continuously. The UK leaves and Trump dismantles NATO. The long stalled project of a greater integration and European Army (aka a real collaboration of French nukes with German panzers and infantry) could really see the light of day. Saudi Arabians were left out of the travel ban even when their nationals were behind the worst terrorist attack against the USA. Dark triad refers to narcissism, Machiavellianism and psychopathy (or antisocial disorder). As a result, these men have a façade of confidence and the skills to manipulate people. Yes, they do produce a short term attraction fairly easily. As a side note: some dark triad types are edgelords, yes. Others are edge-fund-lords... or leaders. They can make rational choices wich benefit other people as a side effect... if they perceive the greatest benefit is for them.

I agree it's creepy. But there is something redpillers get right: creepyness is very subjective and it heavily rests on how you are perceived, i.e., good ol' halo effect. Verbi gratia: -Undergrad, nerdy, shy student version of me makes a stupid comment about a colleage's appearance. It instakills my career. -Shiny, confident looking me tries to shoo away a couple of teenage girls with the most misogynystic, creepiest line I could muster. I got flashed and offered a threesome, right on the spot.

I could have ridden a Stacey carousel of sorts, I guess. Not the half of me with appeared quite poor and had incredibly nerdy hobbies, mind you; just my sharp-dressing, wealthy, seemingly confident self. I was offered some crazy things. Like, things in line with the ones putting people in jail and on social-dead lists inside the USA. I ended bedding women with less in the bling's department and more in the passions' one, but after a lot of searching and pruning. You could ask my wife how hard it…

Well, I am late to the party, and probably repeating some things other men already mentioned, but here are my two cents... I don't like Stacey. For ne, a woman being very conventionally attractive tended to put a huge "stay away" sign on her. I suppose it helped someone that more or less fitted the bill had me metaphorically skinned for more than a year. So I discarded any and all sign of interest from any such a woman as ego-boosting tease. My SO had to get a mutual friend drunk for information…

My wife preferred the ostensibly unemployed, plain looking and seemingly clueless nerd to all the hot, arrogant men that were constantly hitting on her. Let me put it in her own words: "Nobody's telling me what's worthy and what's worthless."

Well, considering I am the child of one such union, it does happen. Then again, I married my bride under the pretense of a Christmas family-and-friends party and she walked to me armor-clad while a chorus of our mutual friends sang O Fortuna for ambient* music, so... *Her choice, the friends in question almost murdered me for making them rehearsal the piece for months.

Because their gender expectations for men are largely intact. They still expect their partner to be traditionally masculine, wealthy, and so on... Few are eager to ditch all gender expectations to find someone compatible. My wife is one of them, lucky me. And lucky her, because now she has more than she ever expected.

Automation is going to take pretty much all the jobs away; including typical women jobs. Just imagine how many healthcare jobs would go poof if we used a device monitoring our health 24-7. If it weren't for the old form of feminism, I wouldn't exist. Mi mother got an education, found a good paying job and married for love with a man so out of her social sphere he could perfectly be a Martian. On the other hand, a warped form of what feminism means allowed a spoiled little princess to kick me down for the crime of being... Too stupid? "She's pretty." That was all I said. Physically, there is nothing connecting the women I've been attracted to. However, personality wise, all of them have met their share of failures and hardships, without becoming bitter nor surrendering to hedonism. All of them inspire respect. Why this disconnect between what people consciously and visually consider attractive, your level of symmetry, and how many partner's you've actually had? The disconnect is female-only. This is where redpillers are more right than wrong: a woman can have a high partner count if she chooses so; almost regardless of how conventionally attractive, or symmetrical, she is. They can't hide the true reason behind their feelings about high count women. She had it easier, they believe it's so unfair... in…

Heck, even considering women fully adults it's beyond the realm of reality for TRP. As a side note, I don't think common courtesy and respect are the same. It's an idiotic question I would never ask; whatever the answer, it would be inconsequential. Darwin Awards don't include the many, many, many men that die doing stupid things after having descendency. Women with children have an extra heavy incentive to take the straight route and dump the dangerous man. After all, it's not about just themselves anymore... and having a baby comes with consequences aplenty.

From a purelly logical standpoint, with responsibility you are accepting there is something over yourself. Doesn't sound specially alpha when you do so. And yes, I would say many young (or not so young) women find the irresponsible attitude attractive. So? It made finding someone worth my time a longer task, that's all.

Some of my ancestors were on top of the feudal pyramid.... and they still had to bury their children, fought senseless wars and generally led quite miserable lives... Sigh. The famous decline, external invasion, and so on, are wrong projections of perceived trends. But even highly educated people fail to understand that kind of situations, creating a whole set of new problems, ironically enough.

A 2% doesn't sound like too much. Until you take a sizable part of a population cohort and assemble that 2% (or 0.1%) together; AKA the people attending school for geniuses... of course you think they were commonplace, the same way Musa I of Mali thought gold was an abundant metal; i.e. by local accumulation. Technically, the IQ scale is purportedly calibrated to make each 15 point distance from 100 a standard deviation (sigma) from average. That means it's at 130 when you get less than 2%. At 145, you are accounting for less than a 0.1% of global population. Anyway, glad to know about another citizen of too rare to measure-polis. Even if you are from, gasp, law.

Sweden is an abolitionist European country. Suffice to say Swedish women are not exactly coy about approaching men. Germany and Netherlands both have legal prostitution. They are bitter about being pressed into gender roles that they couldn't dream of fulfilling and resent women both for denying them the time of the day; and also because feminism made the female role more of an optional thing while (they think) retaining the advantages of said role. I see two problems with your statement. The first problem, traditional instituions were not rational, per se. They were successful if we consider the constraints. For example, until paternity testing of sorts, it was impossible for a man to be sure the child of a woman was his. So, the traditional marriage and its controls and checks of female sexuality were a working solution to ensure paternity while providing women with resources to rear their children. Not anymore. Not challenging the view as such, but... I get the distinct impression that much of redpill moaning about female behaviour is about wimen shunning their own free will, rationality, and agency; i. e., they accuse said women of knowing perfectly well what sleeping with Chad entails, but making the active decision to ignore it. I find it simplistic and misogynistic. If something, actively ignoring rationally known risk is a human trait, not a female one.

Why do you think I used median and not average? Because the average amount of heterosexual sex must be,by definition, the same for men and women. The median, on the other hand... again, women are more homogeneized (I suspect socially) than men. Having too many options produces stress, it's a well documented phenomenon , it's also probably the source of a good amount of female pain. So? It doesn't negate male pain of having none at all.

I sought professional help for unrelated (at first glance) issues, mainly because living basically two parallel lives with very little overlap made a number in my sense of self (and caused some serious anxiety issues). And, yes, they think that it lingers just below the surface and they give some credence to the notion of me feeling too, well, fake to think I deserve a stable relationship. Dissonance is mean.

Thanks. It's been going for several years. I can bond with women... as friends... just fine, and casual sex isn't a problem but I've consistlently hit a brick wall for something longer than a couple of weeks for a romantic relationship. (Yes, the stark contrast with RP beliefs is not lost on me.)

Some men do, others don't. It's intertwined with their personalities: if they are romantics, they will walk over fire to keep their SOs; if they are selfish pricks... well, you know how it ends. Anyway, this is not immutable. I am not ashamed to admit that I don't love the same way I did in the past and that it impairs my present ability to form a LTR.

Some employees of mine (those that knew they were such a thing, in fact) once ramped up their nerdiness to epic levels and invited me to a greek mythology cosplay party; apart of dressing like the mythological figure of choice and even giving a little speech with the properties and whereabouts of the character. (Moved there) I don't get all the fuss. My father is 11 years older than my mother. Age difference is a factor for a relationship, but not the only one. But, again, I am a 31 yo Western European. So a goddamn liberal.

Rejection hurts. People have different tresholds for overblown reactions to that pain but I don't think the averages and standard deviations are so different between genders. This one is an old sexist double standard that certain feminists are hell bent on perpetuate. Let's see. I've met several men that are good people to a fault. But they react poorly to rejections. Because.it.really.hurts. Fact: psychological pain activates the same neural paths that, say, a kick to the balls. Another thread about past sexual experiences being some sort of doom... Personally, I understand the bitterness although I don't think is rational nor positive. That could be an important factor. Add some distorted images about women, society and power balances and here you go. Personally, I know for a fact that you don't need to be a cocky idiot or look like Chris Hemsworth to be more than moderately successful with women. Of course, as my biography looks like something out of a bad made-for-TV film's script, I don't consider myself the norm. Just enough to disprove a supposedly universal phenomenom.

Alpha is the gratuitous Greek way to say leader. The pillverse occupies itself with sexual strategies, so in this context an alpha male is someone that leads a lot of women... to sex, of course. Some men are better at this because they are naturally gifted with good looks, others developed some habits that work with a sizable proportion of women. TRP is something really toxic when it comes to the image it holds of women but I would say that this part is actually conveniently put together.

We still have feudal titles in Europe. Denmark, Sweden and Norway are monarchies... even if they are something akind to a gold standard for social protection and, yes, equality. That contradiction arises from the combination of old traditions with new ideas and a certainly high dose of complacency. That's exactly what happens with certain strains of feminism. They adhere to the tradition of "women are weak and have no agency and men are pigs" (patriarchal to the extreme)... at the same time they…

Mainstream movies don't so much shape people's taste as they are a reflection of a lowest common denominator of said taste. It's a business. If portraying shirtless young boys attracts audiences, they do it. They could make more subtle dramas and social commentaries with strong, middle aged women, but they don't make money that way.

/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/16 07:30 PM

On first approximation, I'd say that both attitudes stem from insecurity. A bad boy is tough so he will protect her and give said toughness to her children. A boy without a monumental self assurance will always obsess about the bad girl cheating/leaving.

Wanting a high threshold of attractiveness is not bad, as long as you keep with the consequences, i.e., it's a very superficial and unreliable indicator for relationships. It doesn't bother me. If they don't want to dig deeper, they are sparing me a lot of problems. And if they start digging, they either dismiss the truth as urban legend (people say the craziest things about me nowadays) or they are really interested. That's when a relationship of any kind starts being worthwhile.

There is nothing inherent about emerging phenomena. You are not inherent to the Hydrogen, Oxygen, Carbon and various other kinds of atoms that form you. Ethics evolved because it creates a helpful frame to maintain societies working. Right. Sorry, I have to put a call with the local galactic void. It surely will respond, because it's natural, as we are. We have intelligence and capacity to communicate, so everything must have them so. And them the void will responds about its musings on philosophy or maybe about its preferred photon wavelenght. The fact we, a small part of nature evolved ethics... ok, many different kinds of ethics... doesn't endow nature as a whole with that property/these properties.

Don't you rely on patterns to know who is your friend? For example, someone that pays attention, that spends time with you and shows a certain degree of similarity (patterns, again). Reducing mandatory patterns helps a lot of people. But even someone that doesn't accept the usual patterns, follow that pattern of not following the initial ones. I don't play by the usual set of rules and my biography reads like poorly written fanfiction, so I do believe each human being is different. I get what you say, but the world doesn't work that way. We have limited brainpower at our disposal and we pattern-match as much as possible. Heck, it's basically the foundation of our success. Memory is a fickle thing. We retroactively assign purpose to actions that actually didn't have one. A woman could honestly think she was sending crystal clear signals when she looked at him a split second longer than necessary, or when she idly stroke an empty cup of porcelain in his presence. But, in fact, these "very clear" signs were drowning in a sea of noise (maybe literally). The truth is that interactions are complex and our ego protects itself from harm.

I don't think there is anything natural about 'alphaness'. Being hot (culturally determined), being powerful (over others), being rich (someone gives money value)... Nature could give you many advantages, but society as a whole makes you 'alpha'.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/04/16 11:44 AM

Ok, let me try to explain. ''Alphaness'' traits are rather tautological. Simplified: refined talk,a certain image and a dominant attitude make the jury feel like they could trust that man, because it's what they expect. We would laugh if some lawyer brought a toga to the court... but for Romans, it was a proper attire. The symbols change, the attitude gets refined or devolved, but the crux is still to get other people's recognition.

The prevalence of those "weak" men challenges your view about the abundance of "allergic" women. But, besides their numbers, would you really want a relationship with a woman like that? Personally, I avoid them. They offer nothing but vanity.

I once visited a campus cafe after a ridiculously problematic meeting with a start up I was considered to fund. The students that came with the idea were fine, but their professor was...I lack polite words, really. A man in his late twenties, wearing an expensive looking suit. Despite my sulky attitude, I was approached by half a dozen college girls, each one with a more outlandish excuse than the one before her.

This thread's like the flu virus. It's supposed to be different each time, but, in reality, it ellicits the same shitty response. Yes, some men could be insecure pricks that couldn't stomach the idea of not meassuring up. Others are simply too superficial. But it's their decision. Because the way you think absolutely shapes the way you interact with the world. There is no need to be neurotic about the people being slaughtered right now by ISIS, but thinking that we are really powerless about it is a lot worse. Specially when that particular issue arose from a very specific decision made by a cabinet elected on a technicality.

Because status is still a powerful signal of attractiveness. Yes, Gary Oldman doesn't have the frame of a lifter or a super symmetrical face, but he has that confidence and commands respect, just by being there. Personal anecdotes are not good indicators, but in my experience, my nerd self is transparent for women. A good thing, in fact. My decision-making, expensive suit wearing mode not so much, to the point of the attention being a little annoying at times.

Well, the article itself challenges your view about "alpha" and "beta" determinism. A careful reading reveals that a male makes it's way to the top by being a total jerkass with any underling. So, when the great "alpha" purge came, there were many males that were younger siblings/sons of the ones already on the top. Then, the bullies died and the structure they were enforcing through force went poff with them. Even if the gene pool was still quite much the same.

So you keep saying. I call it confirmation bias: you expect to be more compatible with someone your own age bracket, so you more easily find that compatibility. Conversely, you don't expect compatibility with other situations, so it doesn't arise. Sorta placebo and nocebo effects for relationships.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/16 10:41 AM

Compatibility is not a linear function of age difference. My father was in the track to become a lifetime bachelor when a woman 11 years his junior (and with better earnings than him to boot) hijacked him into marriage through sheer force of shared interests. They are still very happy together, if a little daunted by the strange path their middle son has chosen. To know about compatibility, you will need to dive a lot deeper than surface. That includes age.

It's easy to disprove. Let's imagine for a moment that much vaunted rule of 80/20 it's true. Heck, let's imagine it was more like a 55/45. Even then, in the course of 400 generations, the number of men with beta provider attributes would disappear. 20 generations would be enough. It's a simple combinatorics problem.

What I find interesting about your response is that it's almost exact mirroring of RP ideas about "men only being valued by their looks and status". Neither is true in general. But it is true for certain subsets of reality. Avoiding said subsets would be advisable for everyone.

And not entitled to the eventual success or stability the men formerlly "below her" could bring. Yeah, we know the routine. Nobody should be reminded either way, but only men that complain about the status quo are massively smacked down with the "entitled" hammer (which I think they deserve, in fact) while women get sympathy as a rule. Only fringe movements like TRP are exceptions.

Never make your standard of happiness about what others say or what others (appear to) have. I'll be blunt, you are not going to have a relationship because destiny says so. But the women that ignore you don't have the right to whine about not finding a good man, or to come back when they get older and basically ask for a share of your life/ressources. Both will happen if you are really successful, so keep living. For yourself.

Some qualifiers would make all the difference. Most men are programmed (mostly culturally) to pursue a "feminine" woman.
