There’s this dude I work with and when I first started, I thought he was a genius. Always knew the answer to my questions and willing to help out. Fast forward a few years, over time I’ve come to learn that he is just the world greatest bullshitter. He has like a 65% hit rate on being right, but when he’s wrong, he can spin of up the most legit sounding wrong answer you could ever imagine. He’s so confident that even when I’m pretty sure I’m right, I’ll leave convinced im dumb. Tbh I think it’s …

That would be ideal, but the average age in my office is like mid 40s. I’m the youngest by over a decade.

A masters degree doesn’t seem as fun as undergrad. There’s a lot more variation in ages and the stages of life that students are in. Also undergrad is 4 years so you have a lot more time to get a group of friends while masters are a year or two at most.

There’s the adage that college is the best 4 years of your life. When I first graduated, I thought it was stupid cause college was mid and I was so excited to have adult money and live on my own. Now that I’m 2 years out, I can see why people say that. Adult life is so fucking boring and being in an environment where everyone is your age and you’re all working towards a common goal is awesome.

I hate it when someone says “xyz is actually super nice if you get to know them personally”. They’ll say this about politicians, celebrities, and someone recently did it about our CEO. Why would I gaf how they are interpersonally? The CEO made some dumbass decision that will negatively impact my life and I’m supposed to care that he’s nice to people he’s friends with?

My name is one of those that’s normally shortened so like Michael to Mike or Benjamin to Ben. My whole life I had gone by the shortened version, but on my first day in the office I introduced myself by the longer version and just went with it. Three years later and I hate it, feel like it’s too late to double back.

I was looking at the place I moved out of two months ago. Prior to moving, they upped our rent from $1.8k to 1.9k, we decided not to renew. Immediately, they put it on the market. Within a month of that while we were still in the unit, they dropped it to $1.8k. Now it’s been empty for 2 months they’ve dropped it to $1.7k. Their greed caused everyone in the equation to loose money. I had to spend money moving and pay a new security deposit, they are loosing out bc they now have an empty unit and …

I really don’t think buying a home is as financial advantageous as people think. My buddy just bought a house cause he was always saying “rents just throwing money down the drain” but then he needed to immediately replace the water heater and his fence. Going to be like 15k. That’s like a year of my rent.

Every quarter, my department does two full days of back to back meetings where everyone gets assigned something they’ve been working on and must present to the group. When we all worked remote, it made sense bc they’d fly everyone in, have dinners, “team bonding” stuff and you’d get to see everyone’s face. They were pretty painful, but if that’s what it took to be remote, I was fine with it. Now that we’re back in the office, it’s literal torture. I spend all day with these people being forced t…

When I was a freshman in college, I was drinking in my dorm and had to go to the bathroom. Ended up slipping and broke the porcelain toilet with my knee. Massive gash, tons of blood, roommates flipped out and called the RA. RA for some reason felt the need to involve the police. Cop came and then started trying to question me. In my drunken state, all I could get out was “I don’t want to answer questions” and for like 30 minutes the cop just drilled me while blood was running down into my shoe. …

My apartment complex forces us to use their valet trash service. At first I didn’t mind, but it’s $30 a month. That’s like a phone bill or half a gym membership just so I don’t have to walk 50 yards once or twice a week. They don’t even take boxes so I need to walk to the dumpster most weeks anyways. Also you need to have it out by 6pm, so if I need to put my trash out I just don’t have a trash can while I’m cooking dinner. I hate this service.

I find nothing more entertaining than sitting on my phone, so I never doing anything. Every-time I go to a concert, vacation, sporting event, etc. I always think “damn this is less enjoyable than sitting on my phone and cost me money”. It makes things that are supposed to be fun into exercise where I don’t like it in the moment but know I should bc it’s healthier and more fulfilling longterm.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/26 01:29 AM

So many of my coworkers were talking a big game, saying immediately once an RTO is put in place they would be gone. However, once it got implemented, they miraculously all forgot saying that. Had one who’d literally been telling me for years that if it happened she’d be out the door, guess who’s sitting catty corner to my cubicle. The story she’s telling makes no sense. A drunk man breaks into your house, rapes you, falls asleep in your bed, and your first thought is “gee wiz, I don’t want to call the cops bc he might get a DUI charge, better I lay in bed with him all night”.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/26 11:08 AM

Women don’t compared height. They can only understand it in reference to someone else, but like if you ask a woman how tall she thinks you are it’s bizarre. I’ve had multiple women who I’m a full head taller than tell me we are the same height. I recently had a woman tell me she’s never noticed I was only 5’7 and thought I was just as tall as most guys.

The apartment complex I live in has fucked up so many times billing me and it always has gone in my favor. It’s so weird I’ve never seen a company this poorly managed. For one, they told me my rent was $100 more than what was actually in the lease they sent, the water bill is supposed to come through my rent portal but they’ve never actually charged it so I haven’t paid them in 3 months, and there portal also allows you to use credit cards with a fee of $4 which is less than I would get in rewar…

Like 45% of women voted for the current administration.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/06/26 04:32 PM

Ya but why does that need to be enforced by law. Like if that’s your standard for your relationships, fine, date accordingly. Why is the state always stepping in to protect women from their own decisions as if they’re children?

The “who pays on a date” discourse always chaps my ass not bc women want the guy to pay, I don’t really care about paying. I go on so few dates I could drop $500 on every date and it wouldn’t matter. It annoys me bc women will twist themselves into pretzels trying to explain that it’s actually fair and equitable. Obviously the reason guys pay is bc women are higher value in the dating market and can therefore find a guy who is willing to pay. However, that makes them sound like an object. So ins…

One thing I never hear people talk about is the connection between dating and the housing market. With the drastic increase in young people not coupling up, is everyone just going to be living alone? My grandma invited my family on a cruise cause she’s getting old and it’s the easiest way for her to travel. I’d been on a cruise once before when I was like 8 and remember liking it. My company has hosted these listening sessions for years where employees can voice their opinions to higher ups. Once the threat of an RTO began to bubble up, that’s all these sessions were about and the impact it would have on people’s lives. A few months ago, they announced an RTO. And like whatever, they run the company, they can make those decisions, but constantly asking for feedback and then ignoring it is demeaning. I’ve heard from high up people that my employer is finally doing a RTO. 3 days a week is what I’m anticipating. The ability to work remote was a huge reason I liked the company, now it’s just any old job so I’ll be ready to jump for better pay. I think management wants to down size, but doesn’t want to spend the money and time on layoffs. Seems like a bad way to do it tho, the most competent employees will find somewhere else leaving the inexperienced and dumb.

Their food is ass, the people are rude, the weather is bad in most places, they all hate each other, and if you’re there long enough you see how the bureaucracy is on another level. Lived there for a year in college, sure it’s pretty but I’d cut off my pinky rather than move there.

I am horrendous at explaining things at work. Everything makes sense in my head, then when I have to break it down for someone it all goes to shit. I always start too in detail and then they can’t even figure out what I’m asking.

“Who ever asks should pay” is this true in any other situation other than like dating? Women say this like it’s obvious and it’s how all their relationships work, but I don’t know anyone who function like that. The only time in my life where an invitation means the inviter is paying is when they’re in a position of “power” over me. Like my parents asking me if I want to get dinner or my boss asking me to lunch. Maybe this is an age thing, but it’s not like my dad asks his buddy to go golfing the…

Is you’re masters in something real?

You’re telling me guys who post on dating subreddits aren’t representative of the population as a whole? Color me surprised.

I’m in this online master program bc my employer pays for it. Shits a total joke and clearly just a cash cow for the school. Profs basically upload a bunch of material that I’m sure has been recycled for years. Every test/quiz is completely open note, no lock down browser, camera etc. Based off the averages I’m assuming everyone is cheating. Any assignments the profs actually have to grade themselves are pretty much participation. What’s crazier is that the tuition for online student is the exac…

When you work with really smart people you realize what high IQ really looks like. We have an Ivy League lawyer in my department who we have to run stuff by. It’ll take him minutes to fully understand topics that are completely foreign to him. I could go over something for an hour, and within a 10 minute phone call he has a better understanding than I did.

Probably not.

All you need to do to maintain a healthy body weight is just not eat 1 to 2 days a week. The rest of the week you can eat like shit, but if you can find a day where you’re not very physically active it’s easy to just not eat.

The amount of Europeans who die a temperature related death is crazy. For reference, you’re more likely to die a temperature related death in Europe than to be killed by a gun in America.

One of my coworkers who’s pushing 50, just had a planned kid with his gf. Yes, gf, he refuses to get married. More weird tho is that we have the ability to work 100% remote, but he goes in to the office everyday. Gets there early, goes to the gym after work, and prob doesn’t get home till like 7 or 8. I think he really hates his gf and kid.

Decided to move out of my apartment, went to check what they listed it for. $150 less than what I’m paying right now and $250 less than what they offered me for renewal. Hope this place stays vacant.

I’m moving out so my landlord is showing my apartment tomorrow to prospective tenants. Hella weird, feel like I need to clean up. They also choose to do it at 9am on a Saturday.

I must have tweaked something while working out bc one of my arms is super sore. I decided to use icy hot for the first time and this shit sucks. It feels like I have a super bad sunburn and I’m sore.

Smelly ass room. I’ve posted myself on here before when that was more of a thing. Always got positive comments.

Apartment hunting is such a god damn pain in the ass. It used to be that they’d hide the upfront fees like admin fee, application fee, blah blah blah. Which is annoying but I can handle it since it’s one time. Now they hide MONTHLY fees. If I’m forced to pay it monthly and it’s not based on usage, it should be part of rent. Found one place that I thought was reasonable click through to apply, shit you not $250 in monthly mandatory fees. If you’re going to force me to use your $90 internet servic…

The longer I’ve been out of college the more I look back and see the whole thing as complete waste of time. I spent hours learning about Chinese literature and ancient art, all so I could work some stupid ass office job.

American work culture needs some built in long break. Like if I want one month off work, I’d need to either quit, get fired, or lie about something for FMLA. That seems insane. I don’t care about the lost pay checks. It doesn’t need to be a yearly thing either. I’ve been here for 4 years and you’re telling me the longest I can take off in one go is like a week and a half.
