The first monoshock, aluminum tank, cdi ignition, and chrome lined bore. Lots of firsts. I took this pic when I was still waiting to find a factory muffler. That took forever to pop up on eBay.

I got really lucky, as there was one company that reproduced plastics and graphics for this. It had been in a fire, the engine was locked up, and it had about 5 coats of various spray paint on it. I sand blasted and powder coated everything. The tank is base/clear, and the graphics are under the last layer of clear.

It really is. This is the same model bike that Bob "hurricane" Hannah stomped a mudhole in all the Euro bikes asses with. There were two other iterations of this bike that year, but the C model was pretty close to factory race team specs. (That's what this is).

Nothing cooler than seeing your dad get to ride his old dirt bike that he hadn't seen in 25+ years (with the exception being when we pick it up from the last owners house). I had to rebuild everything. Even the engine. Cool part was the place I eventually found a replacement piston for it, happened to be the same shop he originally bought it from in '76. It had just been sitting on the shelf for decades, waiting for me to buy it.

Mine too. This exact one, in fact. Long story, but he got it new, and it changed hands four times before he got it back (guy just gave it to him) and I restored it.

It's my dad's 1976 Yamaha yz125c. He sold it a long time ago, and through a series of really strange coincidences, figured out who owned it, knew the guy, (again huge coincidence) and got it back. +Got+ it back, meaning the guy just gave it to him. It was in terrible shape. I spent about 6 months restoring it, and gave it to him in his bday.
