"Seemingly rich". Agree, if smart, they run that game until they have enough money that their money is earning their paycheck, then they get OUT. Those are the ones that don't do drugs, live practically, and have a small but wealthy clientele. Just like in any other occupation, there aren't too many smart ones.

It doesn't make them rich; it gives them more money to waste on expensive apartments, cars, shoes, clothes, other useless crap, and drugs. You generally don't see rich hookers. You occasionally see rich pimps and madams, though...

Sure, except that the Chinese version of the KGB will be along at some point to collect your flat ass and ship you out to a forced labor camp in Xinjiang Uyghur, where you'll be worked to death next to the natives that the CCP is committing genocide against. Lying flat because you are starving and lack the strength to rise isn't nearly as much fun.

Or, in a lot of cases, don't know HOW to study. Actually, people who are dumb and industrious can cause a lot of damage to a business, because they work hard at making mistakes they aren't even aware of, and can cause serious injuries or large financial costs before they are caught and placed where they can do no harm. At least the dumb, lazy workers don't do much damage, they just aren't worth the minimal paycheck they get. Smart, industrious workers make the company go, and smart, lazy people …

"limit the size of ammo to 1000mm". Are you talking about caliber? Holy crap. Even Battleship rounds weren't that big across. Also, the Feds have driven truckloads of improper legislation and regulations through the "Insterstate Commerce Clause" and "General Welfare Clause" loopholes in the Constitution; you know, because the Founders just weren't quite clear enough on what they meant when they wrote the Federalist and Anti-Federalist Papers. Kids have been cruel to each other since time immemorial, they're just using different weapons. The only thing civilization is supposed to do is prevent a Lord of the Flies scenario, and it's failing.

I will take a Navy IDC over an NP any day; those people go through the fire and really care about the people they are assigned to. Especially those assigned to the Marines and submarines.

Man, it's been a long time since I went to a frat party; they're passing around Oreo's now? I recall Hawaiian Punch and grain alcohol mixed in a plastic garbage can (yes, with a liner!), beer, potato chips, and snobby sorority girls. I can't remember ever seeing an Oreo cookie... mind you, there are parties I just can't remember. But to your point; I haven't encountered this problem much. Maybe it's because I'm an old man.

The problem you face is that income tax is only one head of the hydra; there are many more taxes/fees/surcharges/penalties/regulations that drain your wallet, INCLUDING the "hidden" or covert taxation. That is, businesses don't pay taxes, people do. Businesses just COLLECT taxes and turn them in. The customer pays all those baked-in taxes on goods and services.

Have you looked into the Royal Navy? The submarine force is nuclear powered and being a qualified Marine Engineer Officer would open a lot of doors after you finish your required tour of duty, I would think. They would help you get your Chartered Engineer license. I was born in 1959, and I'm the oldest of 7. 4 boys, then 2 girls, and then several years later another girl (an oops baby, or as we told her, the "mistake"). Good Catholic family. I had 2 boys and then went to the vet to be fixed. Families (for actual responsible people) are smaller today because they are more expensive.

Amen (NOT Awomen). There are arrows in a woman's quiver if she's married. Withhold sex, withhold access to children, destroy finances and credit, cheating, etc. But if you can make it through the wickets to being old enough, you will have raised your kids, you don't give a crap about sex anymore, if she destroys the finances she poisons her own well for retirement, you don't care what she thinks or wants, it's much harder for her to cheat because, well, she's old too. As has been made clear on almost every post on this subreddit, it doesn't "just happen"; there are warning signs and red flags galore, they are just ignored or missed. It's not bragging about cars I have; it's not bragging at all. It's the satisfaction of being able to work on cars, know how they operate, know how to make them do what you want. Women brag about possessions; men acquire knowledge and skills that they practice on their possessions.

True, but many times it feels that way. I often had to work directly with staff from Squadron, Group or Type Commands directly as a JO on a submarine to get such things done. Often, tasks from outside are poorly worded and unclear - the XO dumps it on you to get it cleared up and accomplished.

"The most you'll ever be concerned with as a lower enlisted/officer is the directives coming from your battalion." Not quite. As a junior officer, you are constantly being bombarded with requests/demands/orders from outside organizations (these are passed along by the BATT XO to the Company XO to you) wanting reports, data, schedules, and more from you. Also, you may be the FNG and hence the SLJO, which means you have a lot of responsibilities other than your platoon. As a Corporal/Specialist or…

Actually, I started by maintaining and fixing my bicycles in the early 1970's. I worked in my uncle's shop pumping gas and doing minor repairs in the summer of 77, when I wasn't aboard USS Wainwright in the Med. "If" is a very important word here. If you don't have enough money, she might be doing this to you because she doesn't like your sister - remember, all women are at least a 4 on the crazy scale. Either way, she is going to make your life painful and expensive. Lawyers and DNA testing are NOT cheap, it costs her nothing to start this trouble, and history shows us that she won't be punished when the facts show she was lying. Only you are punished, with loss of your time and money and reputation.

The corrosion will probably cause collapse from buckling before then, reducing cross-section to unacceptable levels. Plus, large numbers of those structures that were erected in 40-50 years ago had substandard materials, very little safety margin, and were signed off on by bribed inspectors, just like the one that collapsed. Engineers don't put up buildings, general contractors do.

By an amazing coincidence, I received my BS in civil engineering (structural) from Northwestern University in 1980; then promptly got drafted by Admiral Rickover into nuclear submarines. I'm long retired, but I still pay attention; for instance, the condo collapse in Miami is the latest structural failure due to not conforming to design/plans and not maintaining the support columns properly.

Women work on oil rigs. In the admin areas and cafeteria. They are NOT roughnecks, drillers, tool handlers, or hardhat divers. Women firefighters are generally too small and weak to complete the required tasks, although a few Amazons can do the job. Carol Burnett and her crew did some good work in the old days. Women can be funny IF they can satirize or twist female behaviors and take a poke at their own gender tendencies. When they try to diss men, it usually doesn't go so well.

I've got an 07 V-Star 650, and while it's primarily about good gas mileage, it's also fun to ride, especially with my son (he has an 883 Sportster). The only bad thing is after 100 miles or so, the literal pain in the ass. I had a gel pad put in the seat, and that improved it a bit, and now I'm looking at the air pads, because I'd like to ride from VA to MA without crippling myself. Also have a Ruckus for around town - 80 mpg even with my big old ass on it. One thing I will say is that riding he…

As noted, there are a few women who are on the right tail of the distribution who can do it. Case in point: there are currently a few women officers who are serving in the US Navy's submarine force. This means that they have to make it through a STEM field BS degree, interviews with a 4 star Admiral and his staff, 6 months of Nuclear Power School (basically an MS in Nuclear Engineering Operations in 6 months), 6 months of hands-on training and qualification at an operating reactor training site,…

Aside from your issues with your sister, let's get one thing clear. You are a man; therefore, there is no such thing as YOUR truth. There is only THE truth. Subjective truth is the province of women. One of the things you have to do to make good decisions is to cut through the fog of emotions and view reality as it is. This should be part of your meditation. Sorry if I come off sounding like Mr. Spock, but this is important.

Don't forget double standards. Some of us are old enough to recall when Virginia Military Institute (VMI) was forced, by a US Supreme Court decision, to admit women. Early 1990's. What most people don't know is that prior to the decision being handed down, VMI, along with the Commonwealth of Virginia and Mary Baldwin College (at the time a female only college), set up a parallel female-only program called the Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership (VWIL) at Mary Baldwin. However, the Supreme …

His point is that businesses don't pay ANY taxes, by definition. They COLLECT taxes, and turn them in. Taxes and regulatory costs are just a line item in "the cost of doing business". Where do businesses get the money to fund everything they do? The customers, the ones who actually pay the taxes. A business has basically 4 options when their taxes go up; they can raise prices, they can cut profits, they can move to a lower tax area, or they can go out of business if they are forced into being no…

Nah. They are showing that he can be happy in what he can afford as a divorced man, because he's so relieved to be away from her that this shitty situation feels better. Saving money?! The point of the bit is that he is so broke from the divorce costs, alimony and child support that what little money he has left in a month only allows him this standard of living. He runs out of money before he runs out of month; he's not saving money because he has to use what's left just to survive.

Except that land, like a woman, is never actually yours. Real estate tax is RENT, and if you don't pay the rent, the landlord sends a deputy to evict you. Also, the little county mutant in the car labeled "Code Enforcement" will come tell you what you have to do to maintain the rental property to the landlord's standards. That Deed for the property lists you as Tenant. All you "own" is a financial interest in the house and land.

Right now, you don't own the house, or the land it sits on. You only own a financial interest in it. Your local city/county/parish/whatever government owns those things; your real estate tax is your rent, and the mutant riding around in the car with the "Codes Enforcement" lettering on the side is the landlords representative, telling you how you have to maintain the property to the satisfaction of the owner. Zoning, building codes, permits - all designed to keep the property in condition to ext…

Have to disagree. Those kind of people come "pre-destroyed"; they lack character, discipline, basic financial education, and the foresight to plan for life after "right now". Money didn't destroy them; it was just used to accelerate the self-destruction. And yes, happiness comes from within - including a deep satisfaction of being able to sit back and pursue the things that make you happy because you accumulated enough wealth to allow you to do so. Be the Ant, not the Grasshopper.

Not a lot of women in that career field, are there? I find it enlightening that feminists will say that there is a "crisis" that not enough women are getting into coding, and that govt must take action, but they never talk about the crisis that not enough women are in your field, or riding garbage trucks. Sorry, but nuclear sub reactor technicians ALSO have to be qualified on highly physical damage control tasks for their submarine qualifications. A P250 submersible pump doesn't care if you are male or female, it's going to weigh the same. Physical fitness is critical to the military because many physically stressing tasks are general and not MOS/NEC specific. Intel analysts can be tasked with helping to carry heavy loads when the TOC needs to be moved to another location. Nobody is immune.

50%?! That's only the direct taxation you can see in your transactions. Don't forget the indirect, covert taxation that's built into all the products and services you purchase. Remember, businesses don't pay taxes - customers do; the cost of taxation and regulation is a part of the "cost of doing business" that's built into the pricing structure. YOU pay for all the costs of business taxation back to beginning of the product. Example: you go into Best Buy to purchase a dishwasher, because you ar…
