I hear a lot of feminists say that they want to dismantle these roles for men too and I think some may be sincere about this but I sense a lot of them will happily manipulate men who still conform to ideas of chivalry and if called on if those feminists are called on it then they often lash out. Also, a lot of men, will usually simp/white night/throw other men under the bus because they feel desperate for sexual access and offspring and women know this and are ready and able to fully leverage it…

Just curious, do you keep receipts and avoid the ungrateful people after one attempt?

Yeah, the girl math comment isn't really that bad, and in some cases, the logic actually makes sense (I may be overthinking here) but the boy math comment is actually a dig at men's morality which is more viscous. I am getting tired of how feminists keep on making excuses for misandrists and say they are not feminists but then when you try to ask for some clarity on what equality entails they just say its complex and every person can have a different conceptualization of it, but if that's true t…

That cluster hire rule seems kind of extreme. I can see how it could have unintended consequences of creating animosity and hostility between groups. I feel like there are members of historically privileged groups who have supported diversity initiatives as a means of promoting themselves as they saw enough room for them to virtue signal without really being impacted by the policies themselves as other members of those groups were more likely to experience the impact and feeling the brunt of it …

Sorry that you went through that brother. That's really brutal! We need to stop treating cishet men as dumping grounds for all our misgivings/anger/trauma.

I kind of see where you are coming from on this, especially with the first three points but isn't somehow using black people, who are actually marginalized in this country, as a cudgel? I don't want to downplay how frustrating it is to hear feminists use these tactics which are B.S. but at the same time (and this isn't intended as an attack, and also feel free to let me know where I'm wrong) it feels like we need to form a coalition of all left-wing and moderate men, plus other marginalized grou…

I can appreciate why you would be angry. There is definitely some nuance to this and it feels like it does downplay some of the issues that really do affect black people and women. With respect to the OP, we do need to put extreme feminists on the back foot sometimes, but I wish there was another way to push back against some of these extremist rants that use broad strokes to attack men (including the ones that single out cis het white men). Admittedly I don't have the answer but it feels like t…

I agree with some of your points and you are brave to push back on there. I think rape/assault/violence is a real concern for women and it must be tough for them to have to worry about that and take precautions. WTS it does suck to be lonely to not have access to that form of intimacy, to face economic decline, reporting of how women are superior in basically every way, and while I get that things really sucked for them in the past, things are changing fast and it's rough struggling and not havi…

They don't say these thoughts aloud, but they think them internally and worse, they act upon them when there is a situation that brings it out in them. Exactly, this is why even though being on these sites is not great for my mental health I go there so I can be aware of what is actually lurking beneath the surface so I'm prepared for it... and I think everyman could benefit from this

I guess I just feel like sometimes women (cis and trans) rally around anti-male sentiments but I don't mean to say they are trying to escape it but just that it feels like one aspect of being a woman is reinforcing that identity by attacking the out group (in this case men) but I didn't mean any offense, sorry if it came across that way.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/09/23 05:11 PM
2

I am not sure if I fully understand where you are coming from but I can admit that being a trans woman probably puts you in a tricky spot in that men's rights groups might not support you because of your presentation and feminist groups will not acknowledge your unique struggles living as a trans woman. Perhaps there are ways that the men's rights movement could at least acknowledge your struggle. If it's not too much trouble, can you elaborate on the set of issues that you face and what support…

Will never happen. They see themselves as escaping malehood, and see themselves as temporarily embarrassed white bougie feminists. They see TERFs as misguided sisters whose reindeer games that they want to participate in. You really hit the nail on the head with this observation. They hate any part of themselves (or anyone else) that represents maleness and will almost disassociate from it and try to sacrifice to the alter of white bougie feminism so they can also participate in toxic femininity

I also seem to see that emotional violence is not called out as much especially when it is women doing it to men and while it doesn't have the same danger in the moment over time it can really add up and be devastating.

I appreciate your take and you're willingness to consider another perspective to weigh against your own and I too don't like the man-hating bs. Your wife seems like a nice person to be able to talk to about these things. I wish I had someone like that. Good for you brother. I can also appreciate that gender-based selection isn't ideal. Just curious, off the top of your head do you have other ideas on how to make it safer?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/09/23 02:50 PM
2

Seems like kind of an extreme leap. This is just ridesharing... If it prevents harassment and violence towards women then it doesn't seem like such a big deal. I'm more interested in where we can support men where we're disfavored like in education, forming more relationships with each other, and opposing toxic feminist rhetoric.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/09/23 02:44 PM
2

I guess I'm okay with it. TBH, I don't know how the violence statistics break down but if it makes women feel safer maybe it's good?

You weren't weak, you were a child and were abused by the person who was supposed to care for you because he was too weak to fulfill his responsibility (not shaming him for weakness just the way he responded to it). Sorry that you bore the brunt and hope that you are able to find a trained professional who can provide you the support you need and deserve to process this pain.

I would respectfully disagree. While it is good that women are making gains and it is good for us men to adapt to new times, the fact that we are struggling to do so and is what is worth worrying about and it isn't good to just assume that we will be just fine! In addition, this is costing us in ways beyond our economic status in terms of being able to find life partners or even just friends as so many men are struggling to find friends and feel starved for intimacy (yes women are lonely too but…

I hear you! I imagine there would be a fair amount of women who would be pretty oblivious to or even in a fair number of cases downright derisive towards making the environment more welcoming to men. Sorry that there wasn't more offered for you or any attempts to be more inclusive.

The error that needs to be highlighted in this type of argument is : You make a lot of salient points! I would like to understand political systems and gender ideology/theories (not sure if I'm phrasing that right) more. Would you be able to recommend a few books maybe 3 - 5 or sources that would help someone like me get up to speed quickly?

I can appreciate it is good to make sure people are not included and even feel invited. WTS, If there is ~20% gender gap in Universities that favor women there must be a lot of spaces/clubs that cater mostly to women and I wonder if there is any impetus to make sure that men feel encouraged to join at least a fair amount of those clubs/spaces... On an unrelated note, I just feel really sad to be a man right now. I feel like we're in decline, especially in the younger generations and yet most of …

Yeah, this does get glossed over by almost everyone! Any instance of adults exploiting children needs to be shut down and as abuse of boys seems to get less attention its good that you're calling attention to it.

for sure, any instance of a fully grown adult taking advantage of children needs to shut down immediately and permanently. We need to put a stop to this stuff.

this is incredibly eloquent and also what i needed to get off this thread and start my day. one thing I wonder is, how can men develop that feminine energy so that we can offset or perhaps blend with the masculine women and also more importantly be more whole and integrated ourselves cause I don't want to rely on others (primarily women) any more...

I can only imagine how you feel (I've been betrayed before but not by a spouse) and just offer my condolences for a relationship that wasn't healthy and for the pain and suffering that you will feel. I think the advice a few others gave about having a few short-term goals to focus on would be helpful. Also are there any fun activities that you might enjoy that might give you a little break from the emotions for a bit? Also, I wonder if talking to a therapist or coach could be helpful. Perhaps it…

I understand that we should not overgeneralize any group, but men and women do experience the world differently and often tend to possess one type of energy (masculine and feminine) more and all of this gets reflected in their behaviors and expectations. While there are men that use women it's usually a much smaller segment that carries enough clout to do this. OTOH, due to the manner in which we are socialized there are a lot more men who are often starving for emotional connection and validati…

I totally feel this. There are some feminists who are so antagonistic towards men (Amanda Marcotte, in particular, is so full of vitriol) and are rarely if ever checked by the left and when people do point this out the its usually these same feminists who claims that the hateful ones aren't really feminists. Also, in addition to shunning when we ask for help (because we're privleged and should be able to figure it on our own), when we point to the areas in which we are negatively affected by the…

I think another few issues that are at play are: 1) Women sometimes say they are with someone because they have been burned by the wrong guy one too many times and they are weary and don't feel like they can deal with being approached in the given moment. 2) Women on average are seeking relationships a little more and men are seeking sexual gratification so while its easier for women to get attention (because in patriarchy they are raised to appeal to men more than vice versa) many of them feel …

I wish there was a third party that could cobble together a coalition of moderates, DINOs/RINOs, and everyone else who is just plain exhausted with all the extreme rhetoric. I could envision a scenario where both the left and the right keep driving people into the hands of this centrist party until it becomes large enough to eclipse them both.
