This. Sexual strategy is “got mine, screw you” philosophy. Not sure why that’s so bad to understand.

Ok so the point I’m trying to make here is, it is common for a person to have multiple values that would lead to conflicting outcomes. I’m personally not for a definition of love that requires you to be saintly and perfect. To me that falls into the No True Scotsman fallacy. So I’m personally not a final the question “is it REAAALLy love if you put yourself first?” You can love someone and be selfish. You can love someone but feel the need to lash out even stronger than your love for them at the…

This. I have seen so many men people deem a 10. And I’m like, not my style but I can see why he might be somebody’s 10. If you like a certain type, that man has it in spades. But if you can take it or leave it, you can acknowledge that he’s attractive but don’t really care for the specific archetype he falls into. In fact a lot of niche “10s” look a bit weird to me. They often fall into the uncanny valley. His nose is JUST too narrow. But if you like narrow noses, he’s perfect!

Good parents lose control and act abusively without meaning to. A lot of cheaters don’t want to hurt their partners but lost control, or believe that what they don’t know can’t hurt them.

They are probably hot chicks who can’t step outside without a bunch of people ogling them. That is not most women.

Same as if I found out he paid for porn. My husband has more hang ups about it than I do. He says why pay for sex when he can just meet a woman and take her home the traditional way.

Most millennials (who are late 20s to early 40s) have used online dating. I’m 29 and was in middle school when Facebook started. There were definitely LOADS of older people on OKCupid when I joined at 18.

No. I would be 5’7” (5 inches taller) and autistic. No thanks. Right now I am 5’2”, hourglass, 18 BMI, C cup and have a nice face. I’m also a mathematician. Much better to be a female mathematician, dating wise, than a male one. When I was younger I was a huge tomboy. Was also unattractive and dateless in high school. I seriously wondered if I might be trans. Then I thought about it, and decided I would still rather be a girl. Once my baby weight melted off in college, it was no contest. Female …

Who is pretending that women are anything more than animals? We are all clothed monkeys in the end. Quick, someone call the press!

How will these women not go home alone, unless they approach the guys in your scenario, if the guys are not going to approach? They won’t. Men go home alone if they dont approach. Simple as. Unless the sex ratio is heavily skewed towards females, it is always the male who pursues. This is true in nearly every species of mammal. Throughout human history. In every society. In every culture. Like it or not. It’s not going to change. Expecting women to approach is a pipe dream.

Is it possible to love someone and hurt them for selfish reasons? Of course. Parents hurt their children all the time.

Very good points. I agree with most of them. But I disagree that monogamy is driven by and for females. Polygyny is the primary form of mating in all civilized societies. It is very recently that the world has come to adopt the Western/European style of monogamy. For instance, my great grandfather (Chinese) had concubines. In much of the developing world, polygyny is still common. I do think there is a false dichotomy with having a mate vs raising a kid alone. Historically, even today, the bulk …

This. As an attractive woman I’ve asked men out. My husband pointed out that I could afford to do that because I am never rejected. And that is true. I imagine that it is a little harder for attractive men than for me, but a similar effect is in place. My husband has a high N count for various reasons (he thinks around 50). But one of them is, he’s been performing on stage since he was a young child. People don’t scare him. And he has a stage swagger. He is good looking, but not a head turner. B…

Neither my dad and my husband are over 6 feet. Like /u/Classic_Head3437 said, you’re not paying attention. Look up how many men over 18 are over 6 feet (around 15%). Then look up how many adult men are dating or married (waaaay more than 15%) You only see the 6 feet chad because they’re with women you deem acceptable mates. Let me guess. They are slim, young and attractive.

These guys are not lying. I’m not married to a head turner (he is good looking, but not a head turner) and we started out with casual sex. In fact I don’t think I’ve ever slept with someone I would consider a chad 🤷‍♀️

“Average” for most people mean “meh” instead of “statistically average”. So “not horrible not amazing”. In terms of mating, I would expect, between 5’6” to 6’2”, income between 50-100k, has one or two nice physical features but noticeable flaws eg “he has nice eyes but his nose is too narrow”, within the “healthy” BMI range.

Tinder is a different story. Hotness matters a lot more. Men are judging women the same way on tinder too. But then again I think dating on tinder is by and large a mistake. I’m married to my best friend. All of my exes were good friends beforehand. I’ve never had a bad relationship so it’s worked out.

I don’t know about 1. But for 2 and 3, it’s just not true. Most women aren’t looking around the room, rankings each man by hotness and then going for the hottest man. Most women just have sex with whomever is attractive enough that they’re having a good time with at the moment. If I’m talking to a charming hot enough man, I’m not going to be looking around the room assessing all the other men. I’m going to be too busy being charmed. Same for husbands. We don’t choose men from a line up. As long …

My father is 5’3” or 5’4”. My mom and I are 5’2”. He’s actually not very short in context (1980s China). But yeah he is short in the west. And given that I live in the West I do not want sons that short. Husband is 5’11.5”. A bit over the American average but not by much. His side of the family is extremely tall though. He’s one of the shortest people. His mom is his height. His sister is over 6’, and his uncle is 6’5”.

Do you really have to make it about women when it’s more of a failure to sell himself on his profile? Let’s say this is my profile. “I like classical music. I spend my days practicing piano. I’m working on Prokofiev Sonata No. 2. We’d get along if you would enjoy discussing the finer points of whether or not Brahms is a total failure at orchestration and is only good as a knock off Beethoven. When I’m not practicing piano I like going to operas in foreign countries.” For the record, I DID discus…

I mean it’s online dating. It’s all presumption. Most people don’t even read your profile carefully. They look at a picture, get a general vibe, decide if they like that or not and move on. They won’t spend a bunch of time analyzing you. This guy made his entire profile about fitness and being type A. I want to be fit just fine, but I’m not seeing a lot else to relate to personally.

Not gonna lie, 5’6” aside, I AM intimidated by the winter sport/marathon/ultramarathon flex. I like skiing but not any good. I certainly have zero interest in training for a marathon. Dude sounds super hardcore and I wouldn’t be able to keep up with him. Nor will I want to honestly. Sounds exhausting.

Yes. I’m convinced that to most men, an average looking woman does not even register as a mating option. Yes, they are aware that unattractive women are sentient beings, but I do not get the impression that these women get filed in the header of “women” when speaking in a dating context.

Not for hundreds of thousands of years. Evolution doesn’t work that fast. We are in hypernovel situations with Stone Age genetics. If it did work that fast, the male sex drive would also be very different. But it didn’t get the memo that lusting after teenagers is no longer kosher, and that we’re monogamous now.

That is true. I have seen my husband speak up and command a room. He is remarkable because he is one of the few people I’ve seen do it so effortlessly (he used to be a professional stage musician. Has been going on stage since he was a kid. He is COMPLETELY at ease in front of a crowd). That kind of skill isn’t actually common, in men or women. If you meet someone who can instantly command a room you’ve met a unicorn. And I guarantee you don’t remember anyone else there that well. I have two of …

Honestly at 30? You are fine. I was interviewing some job candidates and some of them are a little older than me (today is my 29th birthday!) with a preteen already. Not gonna lie. That makes me a little jealous. Because as much as I love my baby it’s nice that their kids are independent enough they can take on longer work hours or just have fun if they want. But that’s entirely a lifestyle issue. At your age, you are not at high risk for any congenital defects. What’s more, I remember reading t…

Oh boy. There are whole books written on the subject if you’re interested. Check out Warriors and Worriers. Highly recommended if you like that kind of stuff. It’s a sexual competition thing. Females cannot overtly compete. Their babies die when they lose. It’s some kind of subterfuge thing. You pretend not to be competing. I’m not saying any of this is conscious. You lie best when you believe your lie. Most women genuinely believe they’re not competitive.

It’s not the end of the world. They just complain for fun and attention. It’s how women bond. They complain. Go on any mom board and you’ll find posts of moms being like “is anybody not having an awful time? Why can’t we talk about liking motherhood? Why can’t I talk about my magical baby who sleeps through the night months?” This is because nobody wants to hear about good things when you don’t have it. It’s not bonding. It’s bragging. So you have to find the bad thing, even in a good situation,…

Not often at all but then I don’t really show up at places where I would be approached (bars, etc). And I live in Asia so it may be different. I was hit on more when I lived in the West. Especially in a place like Poland where being Chinese made me exotic. I was getting a lot of attention when there were fit blonde bombshells in the same room. “We as a society” don’t do anything. Individuals do. Individuals act in ways that satisfy their incentives and urges. It’s not a mystery why we do either. If you eat more junk food than you know you should, don’t go to the gym when you know you should, don’t go to bed when you know you should, then you already understand why you hook up when you know you shouldn’t.

Because society sees men as disposable. Therefore society needs men to be fighters, defenders and providers. They don’t care if men have problems. If they do, they’re supposed to deal with it quietly and never trouble society with any of it. In fact, society doesn’t want too many unattached young men. A society with too many young men reliably start wars go dispose of some of them.

I think as long as there is no overt manipulation involved and grooming involved before the younger turned 18, and the older partner is not actively on the hunt for younger partners for their immaturity, then it’s ok. My husband and I started dating when I was 22 and he was 31. This is the kind of difference that many on Reddit would crucify him for. But we met in grad school. We both went straight after undergrad. He went to undergrad at 27 after quitting another career. And he was even hesitan…

That’s between you and your husband. To me even if I’m not in the mood, sex with my husband is not such a hardship that I wouldn’t do it to please him. Sex when I’m not in the mood, it’s fine. A bit of an exertion but I don’t hate it. But if he is asking for it, I know getting it will make him very happy. So this asymmetry alone, I exert myself a little bit and he is extremely happy, seems worth the trade off. He also does things he would rather not, for me. I imagine I might feel differently if…

There’s a difference between not making non fathers pay for their support (and possibly sentencing the mother to paying back the support), and thus making the kids live in poverty with a single mother, which is an organic consequence of her mothers actions, rather than the government forcing a consequence by forcing the kid into the system. Life isn’t fair but you are proposing making it more unfair than it already is, and exposing the kids to much higher rates of child rape, sexual and physical…

Wow. You either know nothing about outcomes of kids placed in systems or you don’t care. If you think ruining kids lives is an acceptable way to punish their mothers, I don’t even know what to say.

Just because someone is a fraudster doesn’t mean they’re worse for their kids than the system. You can’t do much worse than the system for a kid.

You’re assuming the child is a scenario is a newborn. That is very often not the case. They could bounce around in the system for years. If they ever get adopted.

I’m not saying the man should pay. I’m just saying taking a kid away from its mother just to punish the mother is extreme. I support the man not having to pay. The mother could even be court ordered to pay back all of the fraudulent child support she received. Growing up with a single mother in poverty is a fallout. We as a society has decided that the child should not suffer the crimes of their parents because each person is an individual. We do not believe in collective punishment. And I don’t…

I think you should be able to divorce for any reason. But if it involves abuse or adultery and it can be proved then cited as a reason for divorce, then the offending party should be penalized.

How do you propose go about finding the actual father if the mother doesn’t know? Also do you think it’s great to take a kid away from its mother and forcing him to live with a guy he doesn’t know but for the fact that they share DNA? Have you ever tried to take a kid away from its mother? It’s traumatic. That’s pretty far to go just to punish a woman. In adoption they talk about how even newborns have trauma because losing its mother is no joke. Every adoption by definition involves a loss. And…

My impression of men is that there is a little bit of baseline attraction to pretty much any decent looking woman. But I’ve had a lot of male friends and I firmly believe they aren’t friends with me just so they can sleep with me. You can be attracted to someone without thinking that therefore you must try to have sex with them. People are adults with many priorities. Sex is only one priority.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/22 02:28 PM

Depends if you adopted the kid or not. Generally speaking a living parent retains custody unless it’s given up or forcibly removed. A and B have a baby, split up and then A marries C, B can give up his parental rights to C. Then C would be responsible for child support. But B does not HAVE to transfer his parental rights. In most cases they don’t. If you are not the legal parent, you are not financially responsible. Or else children if multiple time divorcees would be rich

I think he should just be absolved of financial responsibility at any point. And if the real father can be found, he should pick up the financial slack.

The foster system is overburdened as is. And kids who go into the system have pretty terrible outcomes. Non related caregivers are much more likely to be physically, emotionally and sexually abusive than related caregivers, particularly the parents. Depriving the kid of a related caregiver just to punish the caregiver seems a little extreme.

I think the definition of pick me has to involve self betrayal in order to secure a man. If she is naturally all the things that traditionalist men want, then she’s not a pick me. She has not betrayed herself or her interests. She just… won? Like her goals all align. She wants to be a traditional wife to a rich man. And she thinks and acts in the way that gets her such a man without having to contort her personality. She doesn’t care about career. She got it. Everything worked out for her. Good …

Pick mes are like the male simps. They do embarrassing and self effacing things to get or keep a guy. Simps end up being used by their target more often than not. And I have not met a pick me who is with a guy who respects her. It’s just pathetic and ugly, and offends my sense of aesthetics, that’s all. If simps disgust you, you should get it.

“Just be yourself” actually means “stop acting as if you give a shit if you end up with this person.” It might not land you the person you want, but if you act like you’re desperate, you definitely won’t land anyone.

Yeah. I’m lucky that my husband is 100% behind me spending money on my looks. Not that I spend a lot. But it’s still WAAAY more than most men spend and I know men who simultaneously expect a Barbie doll and thinks their wives spend too much money 🤷‍♀️
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/22 12:03 PM
1

Yea, of course if we look at other factors it’s about equal. I would say that looks wise, men punch up more than women. But all things considered? I rarely see glaring mismatches. The less attractive partner always makes for it somehow. If it’s a handsome man with a plain woman, the woman is always a saint. If it’s a beautiful woman with somebody average or ugly, he’s either a saint, a comedian, or rich and powerful.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/22 11:50 AM
1

If you mean looks, men. To be quite honest I think physical mismatches happen at around the same rate. But men can punch up more. I have never seen a really homely woman with a stud. But I regularly see really physically unattractive men with attractive women. When women punch up, it doesn’t seem as extreme. Maybe plain woman with a handsome man. But nothing crazy.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/22 11:49 AM
1

Yeah. The way you describe her, that woman is incredible. I’m 28 and have met many people. Many beautiful women who could be swimsuit models. Many handsome men as well. I haven’t met many people I would describe in such glowing terms as you describe her. I imagine her husband feels the same. In the end beauty is cheap if you’re somebody like your friend. Hot chicks probably fall over themselves to date him. He could have them any day of the week. He’s probably not that impressed by hotness.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/22 09:32 AM
1

If Hugh Jackman wants to optimize for beauty, he is more than capable of that and clearly he has other values. We don’t know what his wife brings to the table other than her looks. But we know he finds her attractive enough, and she is probably right for him in a way that can’t be replicated by a random hot chick. You can optimize for any trait you choose. But if you want to be together for a long time, there are a lot more important things than beauty. If you’re looking at a time frame of 50 ye…

Like the person above you said, if you can get status in a crowd that’s good. The ones who are on stage get approached by women. One musician I know said he got ambushed by a woman in the men’s room demanding sex. You are automatically attractive if you’re high status. And if you were just on stage, you are by default high status in that crowd.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/22 07:31 AM

They will have sex with her but they won’t wife her. Which is pretty useless to an average woman. She probably gets used for sex a lot, but no relationship. That’s the problem with a lot of these gender debates. Men and women don’t want the same things for the most part and men see women getting what MEN want, sex, and think women have it easier.
