| 5 | First time with wife’s car was gone…I had the same feelings in similar situations. She treated me like I didn’t matter day in day out, but I still get that sense of hurt when her car was gone at 1am. Time and distance heals. …Also ppl in general have this narrative that men aren’t emotional but women are. I think it’s more that each are deeply emotional in very different ways. Let yourself feel those things, sit with it and figure out where it’s coming from. For me that emotion you’re feeling was unlocking the sense of betrayal I … | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/04/24 01:33 PM |
| 10 | Sex after divorce1) Set up a Google voice phone number (so you can share with people you find attractive without worrying they have your real phone number) 2) spend time thinking about what activities bring you joy (shopping, hiking, climbing, coffee shops, bars, etc) 3) go do those things and if you see a guy checking you out talk him up and ask if he’d be open to meeting again. | 18 | I (33M) really want to start the process, but I haven’t because I don’t want to face that i’ll only see my daughter half the time. Is it ever worth staying for the kids?Get out as soon as you can. It’ll be bumpy and rough, but the sooner you’re out, the sooner you’ll be happy. I’m in the thick of it too, maybe 6mo ahead of you and wish I started the process when I first started wondering if we should divorce. ESP with you as the primary source of income. Some locations flip to lifetime alimony after 10years of marriage, something to consider/try to avoid. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/08/23 02:45 AM |
| 2 | ALIMONY PENDENTE LITE Pennsylvania.Sorry for your situation. I’m going through similar in California. Mediator wants me to pay over 50% of my net income a month as temporary CS/alimony until things are finalized so we can call ourselves financially separated. Such a shit situation. She could be earning more than me but has opted not to because she doesn’t like it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/08/23 12:48 AM |
| 1 | Fastest route to filing separationI think you’re looking for a formal date of separation. https://selfhelp.courts.ca.gov/divorce/date-separation#:~:text=The%20date%20of%20separation%20is,final%20break%20of%20your%20marriage. Find a similar thing for your state. From what I understand it’s just a conversation to declare your intent to separate and then your actions reinforce that. Not sure how well it would hold up, but if you want to document it, you could just write a doc and have both parties sign it for free. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/04/23 07:34 PM |
