There's a big difference between a guy who really appreciates motorcycles having an expensive motorcycle and a douchebag who barely even rides motorcycles to buy three motorcycles to pose in front of in an instagram photo. I would say that most MGTOW guys just buy stuff that they enjoy and appreciate.

The problem is that this is fighting against neurobiology: When you say something which is the equivalent of "Don't think of MGTOW as a movement!", they still see the words "MGTOW" and "movement" in the same sentence, connect them to one another, and consider exactly the opposite of what you are telling them to do, anyway. It's like when you say, "Don't think of elephants!" and immediately, everyone briefly thinks about elephants. If you truly don't want people to think of MGTOW as a movement, t…

I think your effort to combine ideas from early Taoism with MGTOW was creative and generally successful. Near the end of part 4, you talked a bit about dreams, so you might be interested in this book: https://selfdefinition.org/tibetan/Tenzin-Wangyal-Rinpoche-The-Tibetan-Yogas-Of-Dream-And-Sleep.pdf

Um... a men's bathroom is not the most dignified location to engrave "MGTOW." If people would use trees, the sides of buildings, or benches, that would be more proper.

That's great that you have benefited so much from this sub. If you feel bad about the way you treated men in the past, the simplest way to make up for it is just to help out some men that you meet in real life. "...but this is all just advice, do whatever the fuck you wanna do!" hehe

I have heard that there still are a few Buddhist masters in Japan with deep insight, but I've never been there, so I can't say. But yes, it also is disappointing for me that the term "monk" is used in Japan for what are basically priests who can date and marry. I think this came from a law that the government passed in the 1800s in the Meiji era back when the emperor hated Buddhism. That was also the time period when the samurai lost their social status.

The founder of Soto Zen, Dogen, was a very interesting person--and a real monk--who went to China to study Chan and he brought back the teachings to Japan. Nowadays, I think it's common for all types of Japanese Buddhist monks to marry and have children (although some still remain celibate). I wouldn't say that Zen is less religious. Traditional Zen groups chant sutras and have many rituals in addition to sitting in silent meditation. Thinking of Zen as "less religious" is more of an invention b…

Yeah, it's crazy how women can weaponize even the most ordinary conversations and actions. I would add that men should never say anything too personal or revealing in text messages which women can later then use against them either just to cause them social embarrassment or in a legal setting. And you can often spot predatory escorts because the the muscles around their eyes don't move when they smile. Their mouths smile, but their eyes don't... beware, they are setting you up for some bad shit.…

Yes, I have also read about how Buddhism is very popular with many American Jews, but I guess I had never thought about how there might be a Jewish influence on the actual philosophy of American Buddhists. You could very well be correct. Like I said, I have never been in contact with any American Buddhist groups.

Western Buddhism is run by the gynocracy like any other religion here. Eh, I don't know about that, but I've never been to Buddhist events in the U.S., so I have no idea what happens there. However, at the Japanese Zen and Tibetan Buddhist events I have been to, men did generally have more importance and authority, for the most part. Most Asian cultures are still quite male-dominated, and so are most of the religious traditions that come from them.
/r/MGTOW09/09/18 09:14 PM

Yeah, I think that's usually how it is. Although Buddhist monks sometimes build themselves simple retreat huts to do long solo or small group meditation retreats in.

Yes, he married a Japanese woman, but he meditates a minimum of 4 hours a day plus he has many duties at the temple and he is away from his family even more during meditation retreats, so he is definitely not the typical married dude. Not always. Sometimes they got support from the ruling class to arrange for their construction. For example, Prince Shotoku was really into Buddhism, and he hired 3 Korean carpenters to build this Buddhist temple in Osaka. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shitenn%C5%8D-ji But I know that some Zen temples are very self-suficient and grow their own food (but I'm still not sure if they actually built them themselves). I might even get married in the other country if I find a cute girl, and have some kids Well, even if you do get married, the process to get a long-term residence permit in many countries is still quite a difficult pain in the ass and not always a sure thing (at least I know this is the case in many Eastern European countries). That's a complicated question, because even if some people look like they are worshipping Buddha statues (by bowing, placing offerings in front of it, etc.), some have a deeper view and some do not. All Buddhist traditions certainly pay respect to the Buddhaa. And even though you can read some stories about radical Zen Buddhists burning or destroying Buddha statues to shock their students into awakening, if you go to a Zen temple in person, you will see lots of rituals, bowing, and respect paid …

I had a different but similar experience: Many years ago, I dated a young woman who was very depressed and whose life was in chaos. I was very kind to her and after a few months, when she was feeling good about herself again and wasn't depressed anymore, she dumped me. AWALT! But the principle is the same: A woman with a problem dates a beta and then when she overcomes her problem and knows that her SMV has increased, she dumps him.

Well, a thot would only do that to resolve an argument between 2 chads... If the argument were between a chad she likes and a beta, she might just kick the beta in the balls or throw something at him.

I agree. The Tao Te Ching contains very beautiful verses that are relaxing and enjoyable to read, but I find there is little in the text that can practically be applied. There are just a few key points, like being aware that a situation can suddenly change into its opposite and that trying to harshly control something often backfires. Maybe the Chuang Tzu might be better, but I haven't read that in ages, so I'd have to reread it to say anything about it. Oh, and if you like Sun Tzu, check out Jo…

That is a truly tragic tale, indeed! But are you sure that you can influence your kid's lives in a significant positive way anymore? If not, why not go far away and say, teach English in Kazakhstan or something?I read about one hippie guy in the 60s who went to India, threw his passport in the River Ganges, and never returned.(Although I realize that this is all easier said than done.)

Yeah, there is nothing "mature" about being such a weak member of the sheeple that you have to mindlessly do what everyone else is doing! "Hmm, everyone else is jumping off a bridge... Well... I might as well try it..."

Try some classic breathing meditation to unplug from your natural reaction patterns a bit. Google "shamatha." As long as your mind remains like a busy soap opera, you won't get very far.

You don't need to go as far as Thailand. You could have a lot of fun in Montreal, as well... Golf isn't very physically taxing. Try taking up a more physically vigorous hobby like thai boxing, boxing, or jiu jitsu because maybe it will make you feel more exhilirated and alive. Or try rock climbing. Turn up the intensity in your life! And did you know that the U.S. Air Force has a huge shortage of pilots right now?!!If you can manage to get a college degree, you could become an Air Force officer …

I try to only have female friends on the internet and not in person and generally with women who don't live close to me. This way, I can get some useful information and cute pics from them at no cost to myself. I am quite disappointed in VICE for writing that article. Some of their videos are pretty cool, such as the one about the guy who injects himself with snake venom to feel younger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8q_m-rDUNw0 Ironically, I think this man in their own video could be described as a MGTOW because I didn't see him talking about chasing women or about having a long-term relationship. He is mainly focused on his hobbies. Too bad the people at VICE who write their articles are much stupi…

I've noticed this, too! Once you start focusing on becoming more successful in a variety of ways, having respect for yourself, and stop giving a fuck what women think, you by definition display many alpha traits. MGTOW for the win!

Yep, slightly cooler temperatures are better for concentration. People who want their environment to always feel like a hot country should live in a hot country.

Here's a great quote I found online about this topic: "In truth, women are no more 'independent' than they ever were, but because they’ve transferred the job of protecting and caring for them from the men they personally know to the State, they can pretend to themselves that they no longer need men. Modern women are as 'independent' as a tropical fern in a greenhouse in Iceland. All that’s changed is that men, who still do all the dirty, dangerous jobs that must be done, and pay all the taxes an…

Some MGTOW men achieve success in their careers or hobbies that would make other people jealous, so this doesn't seem exactly like dropping out of all races. When you put less energy into chasing women and don't worry about what they are thinking, you have much more time for everything else.

I always found Carmela the most annoying character on the show.Since The Sopranos is set in the present day, Carmela gets all this praise from many of the other characters for being "strong," but she would have been nothing without Tony. Tony Blundetto might have been the most MGTOW character on the show.

Yeah, I was just watching a Jordan Peterson video in which he made exactly the same point: feminists only want more women in the high status jobs. They don't care that the majority of bricklayers are men, etc.

Yep. And the answer is that her assumptions about how the world actually works are fundamentally flawed. Incorrect premises lead to incorrect conclusions.
