Nice job. The reason people don’t push back on it is not due to any difficulty in supporting a position, but out of fear of being vilified. Once you start saying things, there is no rebuttal. College age women are far more brainwashed in this regard. Todays feminism is like the story of the emperors new clothes. It takes bravery more than anything else to expose its fallacies

You’ve touched on one of the stupider points: “power structures are disproportionately male so that means average men have it made” 🫠 Yeah cause oligarchy doesn’t exist. Everything is patriarchy. Joe six pack hangs out with bill gates and Rupert Murdoch. They give him stock tips. If middle class men are somehow recipients of some overarching societal patriarchy, why wasn’t my vasectomy covered by insurance? Anyway, patriarchy is a real thing it’s just certainly not the prevailing system in any w…

No way man. One accuser, I’m skeptical until convincingly proven. Multiple accusers? Not so much. And for Brand to call the accusations “baroque” did him zero favors And women (or men if it was a different case) “come out of the woodwork” because that is psychologically sound behavior. Rape victims tend to freeze as part of the otherwise fight/flight response. Another person busting through the freeze helps other victims do the same

I can’t help but reach a similar conclusion. That’s not supposed to be true, but what other explanation is there? I popped over to the fem sub yesterday and a gal was complaining about a thread where people complained about women with this: “women☕️” (meaning “women what are you gonna do” sips coffee Apparently she complained to the group, who told her to take a joke. The fem sub response was vile of course, putting this up “men🍼” as if that’s the same thing So they went for the jugular, calling…

Wish we could have some less cartoonish figures commenting on feminist hypocrisy. Even Kevin Spacey I’ve seen blasted as a violator of women even though he only went after boys. Hopefully this was just an ignorant assumption that he victimized females, but gee whiz, a guy abuses males and this only hurts women? 🥴

Except everyone here who abides by the spirit of the forum already has had the same experiences and little proof is required. OP, you seem to insinuate that generalized hatred of males is justified because of a woman who was r*ped by a man. If this is not the case, disregard my response. My mother and father both r*ped me when I was three and younger. Then, to cover her tracks, my mother arranged a new assault from a teenage boy so that when my memories formed, I would blame everything on the most recent predator, the teenage boy. I acquired CPTSD from all this and have a deeply embedded suspicion of all people. Your r…

I’m not very sex driven. I would rather avoid interacting entirely than have to wade through these attitudes. It helps being on the autism spectrum. Social consequences just don’t have the same bite. Moreover, a woman instantly becomes unattractive to me when she talks that way, regardless of what compensating characteristics she may possess, so there’s really nothing to salvage. Thank you for your comment. Sorry for the late reply.

I’m already tired of reading the needlessly long phrase ‘women and girls’ because of my polisci book. It’s really distracting to read such awkward language when ‘females’ or ‘women’ is perfectly fine. Female is a bad word now. Just let that sink in to show you how goofy and paradoxical the present zeitgeist is. How can you promote feminism and condemn the term ‘female?’ I don’t care if text reads ‘men and boys’ instead of just ‘males.’ In fact, the former is rather creepy.

True, and this is why my wife is so great, she listened and adapted to feedback, which was particularly difficult because we had a femifascist for a marriage counselor. Her bunk ass advice for me to not mention the obesity problem in the family, and to just work on not being angry, has now resulted in my son’s fatty liver at age 15. But anyway, it would be nice to come across women who don’t require reminders to be civil and fair. Perhaps their possibly fictitious existence is what I’m mourning.

This is one of my all time favorite forums on the internet period. it invites my two political rivals into the same basket: feminists and right wingers. Right wingers are useful because they, more than anyone else, can point to possible informational defects in my positions, which I can then repair. But it’s not that way with feminists. They aren’t nearly as likely to want to debate, and when they do it doesn’t even resemble anything academic, its really just them insisting really hard that they…

Women talk amongst themselves, men don’t. What’s happened recently is women have made girl talk public talk, and they need to put it back where it came from, just like all these white supremacists that have suddenly made their bs our business. I think open misandry is largely a response to populist Trumpism. Conspicuous irrational right begets conspicuous irrational left. Two sides of the same very silly coin

Ridiculous. Chinese racism against Blacks is different because the Chinese never owned Blacks. White Americans, on the other hand, were even more racist against the Chinese than they were against Blacks following emancipation. Well, yes, men are frightened of frivolous accusations. This article mentions how this male fear is backfiring on women because now professional men (the usual power holders in an office) don’t want to mentor women or be around them for fear of being accused of something. So now women are deprived of advancement opportunities. The article tries to spin it as ‘there’s a myth that women will lie,’ but that idea falls apart when you look at what Amber Heard did. I’m not in a situation of profession…

Sources would be helpful. I read about the white feather thing which was quickly abandoned. Women’s suffrage was not an automatic guarantee of the female right to vote, with many places disenfranchising them the way they had after black men got the right to vote in the 1870s. Voting disenfranchisement occurred often through 1870-1920. Cities and states couldn’t outright ban blacks and women from voting so they did things like poll taxes and literacy tests that were designed to indirectly keep lo…

Why exactly are you singling out the acts of rapists? Interesting thoughts. I would also add that one’s delivery style is important to strategy. I don’t believe in showing anger to misandrists or their audience. I think it both validates their position and feeds their ego because to make men angry makes them feel powerful. You’ll probably see a partisan divide in answering this question. Liberal anti-feminists here are probably going to say that they were once feminists, like myself. AOC is too progressive, which is the real reason she wouldn’t be seriously considered. Stacy Abrams is saying the same thing in the GA gubernatorial race, that there’s too much misogyny and racism. Again, the real reason is that her positions are too far left. Raphael Warnock, a centrist who is also Black, is polling better in his bid to keep a senate seat. The only real pro-male take I can offer is that male empathy is probably more resistant to cultural influence. Men are less likely to demonize outsiders. This is consistent with present day trigger-feminism’s poor ability to navigate nuances, and tendency to characterize gender conflict as simply a ‘male problem.’ In short, men appear to be more capable of rational character judgments, while women’s views of outsiders are more likely to be shaped by their peer group’s opinions. It looks like thi…

USA abortion restrictions are an effort to enforce patriarchal rule in an otherwise non-patriarchal society. But it’s not men controlling women, it’s Christians trying to control everyone. Gendering the issue confuses the issue.

The men you describe are oligarchs. They preserve an elite clique that is every bit as insular to the man typing this and the men to whom you are responding. Staffing more women there won’t erase gross inequality, it would only buttress affirmative action in the elite sphere. We do not live in an experiential vacuum. Patriarchy strikes me as a religious term. I came from Mormon Utah which is very patriarchal. But the Mormons aren’t a dominant social paradigm and neither are other patriarchal regimes that exist in pockets in the USA. Women are definitely second class in these. If you ask them about it they might express their ‘joy’ in their inclusion in a patriarchy, but will probably lack the cultural contrast to note that other options are available or valid. Marital contracts are controlled by the state in the west? Should I expect a knock on my door soon because my wife and I are actually non-monogamous at this point? Is SCOTUS dialing this one up next? The state is involved in the material and child custody aspects of marriage, not the nature of its intimacy. Pair bonding (I was confused by your spelling) is not finite. Marital contracts are subjective. The specific arrangements vary by each. STDs and kids are pretty easy to spot in a potential mate. There’s a medical check up for one, and the other is obvious. Virginity needn’t apply. I don’t understand your other points. If you prefer virgins, no one is going to tell you you can’t. But for many it’s kind of a 🚩.

I am serious. I will bite back against feminist overreach all day, but preferring a virgin as a sexual partner provokes a variety of uncomfortable questions as to why. I’m married to a woman who said she loved the fact that we were both virgins when we mated. I don’t like it. It’s like she is saying that I belong to her and she didn’t want me to be claimed by other women beforehand.

There aren’t many places for liberal men to vent about feminist overreach because we are hesitant to be categorized with our right wing political rivals. There is no social reward for a monogamous man to claim extra marital partners. His reward is the sex itself, at risk to his image. Slut shaming applies to both genders. I liked the heroine of the final episodes of star wars. I don’t mind Hollywood going out of its way to promote female lead roles as long as it doesn’t degrade the product. Yes, they did carry them long before emancipation and they were heavily regulated by gun control laws, mostly local ones. The trend to high volume gun ownership is one of the things changed by the civil war, partly because of the surplus of weaponry following it. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/gun-control-old-west-180968013/

Problems in self-reporting. The fundamental flaw with this claim is that gun advocates compare inflated survey defensive gun use numbers from Gary Kleck with National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) crime numbers. The defensive gun use surveys use different and more dubious methodologies from the NCVS. An accurate comparison requires comparing similar methodologies. A 2013 Department of Justice report compared NCVS gun crime numbers to NCVS DGU numbers between 2007 and 2011. The DOJ report det…

It said that in the context of dating apps. Women are basing their perception of male communication skills and emotional availability on what they see in OKCupid. How much sense does that make? No one here feels the need to put on a straight face to address this article because it’s such a joke.

I read it and it assumes that lack of women are the reason for the unhappiness. If you would commit to due diligence you would also discover the cause of unhappiness is underemployment, and underemployment often goes with being single (three guesses why) And yet men are supposedly given all the jobs Like most feminist rags it assumes women are at the center of things https://www.inc.com/bill-murphy-jr/a-massive-new-study-of-5000-men-says-this-1-very-surprising-thing-predicts-happiness.html

61% of women happy being single compared to 49% of men is not a significant difference. Studies have also shown that work is a larger indicator of male happiness than relationships. Single men also tend to be the underemployed ones, so the ones reporting being unhappy being single also tend to be underemployed, which is the bigger contributor to unhappiness. We’ve also come to be suspicious of studies that break down gender because of feminist bias in many. Take the very glaring CDC bias in rape…

What am I misunderstanding with this? Feminist activism fudging numbers on rape… https://time.com/3393442/cdc-rape-numbers/ Why in Canada are they making sexual ‘stealthing’ a crime only if a man perpetuates it (not using a condom when he says he is)? Women can and do lie about being on birth control and steal the man’s life, STD’s are not the only possible evil. I also think a lot of women who promote feminism have no idea the damage they do to balls in general.

We just need more vocal liberal men. There’s a safety in the right wing speaking out because their social circles, but liberal men are fed to the wolves if they’re honest. I mean, I’ve seen some guys here saying that women should actually embrace submissive roles and not consider it oppression. That’s not an attitude I’m here to champion. I also know that people really shut down around male anger. Our concerns cannot be expressed angrily, no matter how well justified. Anger has been cancelled.

‘Any system of government is inherently oppressive.’ In political science we call this ‘the iron law of oligarchy.’ It means that the processes involved in managing a large organization inevitably result in the concentration of power in the hands of a few. I have to believe that when I read Michelle Goldberg’s inane defense of Heard in a NYT column, that she is pandering to readership. Same with the inane comments from Tucker Carlson in his pursuit of viewership. Movements come and go. Right now is interesting because of the novel emergences from social media. But there was also temporary social upheaval after the printing press came about. If history is a guide there, the anti-reality social media tribalism we see now should subside.

That’s all fine, but the problem is the absolute views on gender expectations. Your analysis applies as much to women as it does to men. Patriarchy is an internalized script reinforced by social proof from other women. Same here. I thought I was a feminist until around 2017 when I saw what I guessed was a lopsided reaction to Trump’s election. As it stands, popular feminism is the left’s version of post-truth reality. I still want to see more women in leadership spots in corporations and government, but on a proletarian level feminism is just another incoherent tribe.
