This is emotional abuse. You need to get out of this situation. He is telling you that at his age he would rather have someone even younger than you. I

When we first started dating I invited my current girlfriend to a out of town event where a friends band was playing. There was a nice hotel just 2 blocks from the venue. I told her about it and offered to pay if that was ok. The money saved let us both pitch in for a 3 day RV trip just a couple of weeks later.

I don't see a problem with separate beds in the same hotel room. We are adults, we have clothes on, we can behave. There is really no point in spending the cost of a extra room in order to travel together or attend a event.

Upvoted for the counciling first idea. When two people can not discuss something calmly they are not likely to listen to each other. That means the problem doesn't get resolved. Often bad behavior when angered or annoyed is repeated because it gets them what they wanted. It takes conscious effort to look at something from the other person's point of view calmly. Counciling can help teach him how if he is willing to try.

Yes, exactly what I was trying to say and you worded it much better. The person I attempted a long distance relationship with, daily texts and evening phone calls were very important to. But I wouldn't have known had I not asked. When I asked she had apparently also dated guys that thought if she told them, they took it as too controlling or clingy. She said I was the first to ask her how she felt about it. But before that I had a person I was supposed to be meeting the following week for a seco…

I've dated ladies that liked daily communication and others that saw it as clingy and annoying. I've learned to ask. Since us guys are dense and clueless sometimes, I would hope the person would talk to me if I did or didn't do, bothered them. It's possible his behavior is a bad sign, but it's also possible he just doesn't know those calls are important to you. If you are worried about how you ask, try something like just telling him that you missed talking more often since you are not able to s…

I spent a lot of time hiking and camping when I was younger because I didn't have money for vacations. A camping trip in national forest service land costs nothing but the gas to get their and the food you eat. I've also had people go camping with me that had never been camping before. It's not a big deal. I have extra gear. A camping trip can be anything from a short hike to a extended trek. If it's someone new to camping, I stick with shorter hikes. I never would have known I actually enjoy ba…

That I don't really know about because I don't do casual sex. But I can easily see where the wrong person may just take advantage of the sex knowing that's all he is really interested in.

I don't do casual sex. I was in a long distance relationship for a while. Besides dating both of us preferred home cooked meals over eating out. Both of us enjoy cooking. So yes, we did quit going out on dates. But she would start dinner while I was driving over or I would start dinner and have it ready when she got in from work. We would watch a movie or play a game together after we cleaned the kitchen together. So not going out didn't mean we stopped doing things together other than sex. Sure…

As a 54 year old man, I place a great value on intelligence and personality. Each evening it's personality that you spend time with. Every morning it's personality you wake up to. After a day at work it's personality that you come home to. So sure looks are great but really not that important if you are looking for a partner in life.

Definitely going to be a difficult decision then. I don't regret my children at all and I did the single dad thing. At 54, I still haven't found the right lady. But I have learned that the ones I was picking, I was choosing for the wrong reasons. Personality is everything when you are living with someone. Looks, income, education, everything else is a lot less important. Education doesn't always mean intelligent. There are some really good people that don't have high paying jobs. Looks don't mat…

No matter how you feel earlier on, relationships require work. It's only happily ever after in stories. The love and the lust part comes and goes in cycles for a lot of couples. If this is a good guy with a good personality is he dad material? Is he going to take care of you when both you and the kids are sick. Do the two of you make a good team? Is he going to be honest with you and loyal to you? If the answers are yes, then talk to him. Work on deciding together, what is next.

The one piece of advice I wish I could have learned years sooner. Personality is far more important than looks. It's personality you have to live with every day. You want someone that has family values and is a good person. Drug use is a big No.

I was not that way at. 18 either. We all have to learn and grow. But it is a conversation I had with my kids. Both for safety from disease and the risks of pregnancy.

From a guy's perspective, for me sex involves a emotional attachment. It also involves the risk of disease. So I choose not to unless I am in a relationship. A partner with the same views, while not a hard limit, is an attractive trait.

I'm one of those that believes there should be no secrets in a relationship. If I have to hide it from my partner, I shouldn't be doing it. I also believe disagreements or problems should remain between the couple and/or their councilor. When you talk to friends about problems, they only hear one side and that could change how they view your partner. If you need to talk to someone, that's what councilors are for. They can also help you with tools and techniques to resolve disagreements better.

From a guy's perspective, there are certain cities (like Chicago) that I don't want to visit. But if I'm genuinely interested in someone, I would view it as my responsibility to meet them on their terms where they can be safe. Even if it means I have to travel somewhere I wouldn't normally want to. Do you want a projector and provider, or someone that is going to put their own interests first with no concern for your safety and comfort?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
