2	Stock question File ASAP. Every day you stay together she's taking some portion of the stocks. Even if the stocks vest after you're divorced, she will likely use the coverture fraction to ask for some portion of stocks as they vest over time. I made the same mistake with myself. But as of now, after two ESP's she's requesting about half of all the stocks I made in my startup, which is basically enough to retire. 3	Don't marry without a Prenup I wish I could think of money that way, but I cannot. My startup years were very stressful, often working 50hrs a week in a cramped space with dozen other folks, no overpay and little salary. I put my work for Options (share/stock) and that is what I earned after acquisition. Acquisitions are rare, most startups never see the light. I was lucky. 6	Don't marry without a Prenup Yeah wish I did this earlier. I did tell her that she has one year to get a job otherwise I will get a divorce, then she wanted more time, and then some more. It was actually my therapist (I went into depression) that recommended to file for divorce because she said that my wife is never going to work.
