I've looked through your post history also. You seem very angry, and your comment comes across as very patronising, after I called you out on your aggressive behaviour towards me. You don't seem to be in a position to be mentoring anyone about anything right now. I suggest you take some time out and work on yourself and why you're so angry, before calling yourself a coach and potentially causing harm to the women you claim you are helping. It's great that FDS apparently works for you, but there …

I guess in your own way you think that you're trying to help people, but wow, this is a very aggressive post. It's not helpful, especially insulting me calling me a pickme and implying I don't have hobbies, friends or a job, this is very poor behaviour coming from a so-called 'coach.' My strategy of having a phone call before a date is so that I can avoid going on a first date with unsuitable men. It's worked well for me, I've avoided lots of dates with men after I had a phone call with them fir…

I have another story I've remembered. I once had a male friend who was in a group of friends from school. I always thought he was lovely because he was so funny (and cute too) and I secretly had a crush on him, but never told anyone because he got a girlfriend before I could say anything. For the next few years I forgot about it and we all hung out as friends. He married the girlfriend but she ended up being awful, had been cheating on him and had a baby with her affair partner, less than a year…

Yep, those comments are absolutely disgusting. The ignorance and denialism around the domestic abuse that women experience is just so depressing.

Very well said. I've been following this case a lot since I found out about it because of all of the reasons you stated, it troubles me a lot. Also because he reminds me a lot of Chris Watts and my ex. They all have the same slant, dark squinted eyes and evil and weirdly similar physiques. It's like psychopaths all have the same eyes or something, it's troubling. I also feel like I am just waiting for him to be found and charged because currently there is so much injustice in the case. I have fe…

I've always done this when dating , ie once I get to know him better and understand his work, friendships and family situation I get a better idea of the kind of life I'd live if I got together with him ie. I could tell that the parents of one of my exes were hoping I'd help care for his disabled sister, which wasn't something I felt comfortable doing. Several other men I could tell they were after my money rather than wanting to make my life better and provide for me in any way, several men cle…

Me neither. It usually means they weren't interested enough to ask you out, but they'll use you as a placeholder/for free sex/company/resources etc but they don't really like, fancy or value you that much and will always be on the lookout for a woman they would actually make the effort to ask out. I do know two married couples where the woman asked the man out, but in both of those couples the woman is very masculine and bossy whilst the man is weak and flaky, so not the kind of man I'd want to …

Yes, they always seem to want me to be some sort of support hostess for their life - play the girlfriend role of entertaining their friends and family. I don't enjoy doing this, I want to continue being me doing things I enjoy and not have to become some sort of background hostess with zero personality, hobbies or interests.

I find they often don't like it when they find out about my accomplishments. I speak a few languages which isn't that common in my country, I've studied a lot and have several qualifications and I am setting up a business and I can tell a lot of men don't actually like any of this at all. Some of them say nervous comments which indicate they feel intimidated and uncomfortable. It's stupid because I don't care if a man is particularly well educated, I actually am super impressed and attracted to …

Unfortunately I have had the same experience as you. Even my one non-abusive ex I realised was never really interested in me as a person. For example he was never bothered about my life experiences, travel, skills etc. He seemed to want me to fit into his life which involved a lot of socialising with his friends and family which I tolerated but never enjoyed because I'm an introvert. I also hope one day that I find a man who is different and actually sees me and is interested in who I am.

I've always wondered this too. What's the point of getting together with a man at say age 22, if he's then going to dump me at age 30? The whole point of dating for most straight women is to find a man who actually cares about us and loves us rather than just loves our bodies and our youth. Also, are these men planning on having a rolling conveyer belt of 25 year old women? I guess some of them are, but that sounds pretty depressing to me because it doesn't involve any kind of real and lasting g…

I could think of a few time’s pick mes encouraged me to take a chance on a guy claiming I was being too harsh & I listened cos id stayed away from men for a whileWho ended up being some of the biggest sociopaths ive met in my life - highly abusive and crafty serial cheats. Lol at the dachshund comment, that is exactly what it's like, these men are so strange! I have to say I'm very surprised and relieved it's not just me seeing those 148 upvotes, because the past year has been absolutely brutal on my self esteem being on those apps, and I concluded that it was something to do with me, until I spoke to a few other women who said they were having the same problems, even women in their early twenties (I was assuming it was because I'm in my late thirties, but the men…

This is really interesting and seems possibly connected to what I experienced the last time I tried online dating, and that's that the men seemed really fussy about all sorts of things they were looking for, which is the opposite of how it was when I first started dating. Back then women were very much the peahens and men were the peacocks who would try very hard to impress us, because they knew that we were the choosers. I constantly got asked out and men would always be incredibly polite, they…

I was going to say this too. I was always told I was pretty and I got a lot of male attention, but every single time I got into a relationship with a man I realised that they saw me as a kind of doll. When having sex it's like they'd zone out and have sex with my body rather than who I am inside. They loved my face and body, not me, and I felt the most distant and disconnected from them whilst having sex. I look at all the beautiful women who are famous and most of them seem to get cheated on - …

This sub is so accurate describing my recent thoughts today. I absolutely had this discomfort last time I tried internet dating, about how most men in my age group were single fathers. Often they'd hide this fact on their profiles and I'd start off feeling positive until they revealed they had one or several children and I instantly felt disappointed and annoyed. I don't think I want children myself, and I certainly don't want to be raising the children of a single father especially whilst his e…

Agreed. I actually think it's about emotional unavailability and avoidance. They use sports as an excuse for not being present and emotionally unavailable in their family relationships then get angry and back each other up if women point this out.

My abusive LVM ex did the bait and switch too. He pretended to be a country walk loving gentleman who was interested in vegetarianism. By the end of the relationship I had to accept that he was a misogynistic abusive bully who constantly ate meat and he'd go running alone instead of going on a walk with me. They know we wouldn't date them if they presented their true selves so they manipulate us into being with them by pretending to be decent human beings at the start.

Lol this made me laugh and it's true. I remember some extended family members used to insist on watching Formula 1 during family events and I just didn't get it, it's just a fast car dangerously whizzing around a track making a noise. It's so, so validating to hear other women voice thoughts I've had for the past 20 years, thank you.

It's so great to see this opinion posted here because it's what I've been thinking these past few weeks but it seems such an unpopular opinion I didn't really voice it to anyone. I've always found men's obsession with football absolutely surreal and bizarre, and I have really, really tried to understand it in the past coming from a family where all the men would watch football even during family occasions. I remember being told to shush by men in my family when football was on, or the radio was …

True for the most part. There are a few men on there I've spoken to with practical skills who are on there because they don't meet many women in their every day life but I agree it's best to meet people out and about in every day life if you can.

I've noticed this too about men lacking practical skills. I can cook, clean, sew, grow food and this year I taught myself how to use a drill and a saw and built myself an awesome wooden vegetable planter. When I talk to men on dating apps most of them don't have any kind of practical skills. I find men who can fix, build, design, make, engineer things and grow food really attractive and a man like that would add a lot to my life as we'd have complimentary skills. I don't want a man who just watc…

I know what you mean, I've often thought about this too - how you can be a beautiful woman, get married but will gradually age. Meanwhile your husband will keep staring at women much younger and quite a lot of them will cheat if given the chance. I guess the only way around it is to find a thoroughly decent man who genuinely loves and is attracted to you and doesn't have a wandering eye. There are men like that, I've met a few and seen some of them interviewed, it's clear they never stopped lovi…

40 is definitely not peak age for men, they are definitely past their peak health, fitness, attractiveness, energy etc by that age. I'm in my 30s and when I was on the dating apps men younger than me were always more attractive then the men older than me. They had better bodies, looked healthier, fitter, just all round much hotter and were usually more fun, positive, etc too than the older men. I think men from the age of about 26-35 are at their peak.

I can't stand the good morning messages either! I don't even like it from a boyfriend, because it feels like pressure to communicate first thing. My ex used to say he'd panic if he didn't hear from me each morning, so it makes me feel stressed. It's even worse if it's a random guy I've only just started speaking to, because it feels like a way for them to fast forward us into some sort of couple before I've even figured out whether he's trustworthy or not.

I've always hated this question, because the implication is that there is something wrong with the single person, rather than the pool of men she has available to date. I mean, isn't it obvious? I'm single because I haven't so far been able to find the kind of man I'd like to be in a lasting relationship with.

That's interesting you got ghosted more as 'cute you' rather than 'sexy you.' My profile was quite wholesome showing me out walking, doing my hobbies etc rather than glammed up wearing sexy clothes out drinking because well I hardly ever get glammed up a now and I no longer drink alchohol. I went on a date with a man I met in a yoga class who, I found out on the date, was actually married with his wife looking after his kids at home whilst we were on a date!!!! He'd lied and told me he was separated, at the time I didn't know the difference between separated and divorced and assumed separated was some legal thing. I'm glad you posted this, I was thinking about this today as I live in an area with a lot of hippies. Where I live there always seems to be about 10 single women per single man. I often meet decent looking, educated, accomplished single women who are single, and have met a lot of very strange, unappealing hippyish men who move from woman to the next and are never single. It's very unsettling, I probably need to move lol. If there were an abundance of attractive HVMs here these guys would not hav…

I recently rejoined a dating app (before deleting it again after a week it was too depressing). Lots of the men on there were men I'd matched with and spoken to last year who later ghosted me. I assumed they'd all been talking to other women and had chosen them over me, and so would now be dating them but nope, they are still on the dating app a year later. This really resonates with me. I'd love a group of close female friends who I could meet once or a few times a week for coffee, dinner together and have a good laugh. In difficult times we could support eachother. But most of my old friends all found men and got partnered up or married, and that was pretty much it, their focus is on their men and their children if they have any (not all of them do). Meanwhile, the men they married continue to maintain their male friendships, as far as I know. It…

I am where you used to be - I'm several years free of an abusive LVM ex and I've started to accept that I might just be single forever. I tried online dating last year and it was really depressing, so much apathy and poor behaviour from the men, it made me feel much worse about myself. Unfortunately I have found what you wrote to be completely true, about my most recent ex anyway. He posed as a really sweet, wholesome geeky guy who was introverted and liked walking. By the end of the relationship I realised he was a cheating, lying, abusive misogynist, the opposite of who he pretended to be, and it was one of the worst things I've ever experienced in my life because I had trusted him. This is unfortunately very familiar to me, my stomach lurched when I read that story but I like how you guys teamed up and figured him out and it had a happy ending. I was just like that with my recent ex, believing his story whilst he cheated on me and it was absolutely devastating when I realised. It's weird isn't it? Several of these men were much more bothered by my food allergies than I am. I often forget I have them, it's only if I got to restaurants that I remember other people eat a lot of other things but restaurants are usually very helpful and have several things I can eat. And otherwise I make nice meals at home and try out new recipes etc. I guess these men want 'hamburger and chips with a pint down the pub' type women and see me as being too difficult because I can't and won't…

Absolutely, one of my exes said he wanted me to go out with no makeup, when I barely wore any at all, and said I should dress like his female friend. He got super angry when I dressed up and looked fabulous and said that I 'looked like I was trying to attract other men' despite the fact that at the time I was, for some unfathomable reason, really smitten with him. Ugh he was horrible.

When I tried online dating I was troubled by how many men were very particular about what their partners ate ie they'd say things like 'I can't be dealing with fussy eaters like vegetarians and vegans.' They'd often say they wanted a woman who they could go out for meals with and she'd eat anything. I have several food allergies and I get sick if I eat certain foods, I've adjusted to it and it's mostly not a big deal but several men I spoke to clearly saw it as a negative thing, as if I've chose…

After several depressing episodes online dating where I started to lower the bar (I know, bad idea but I was getting exasperated), my main requirement was that the man showed his teeth on his profile, because bad teeth is a massive dealbreaker as it often means poor hygiene, poor self care etc. I learnt this after a terrible date with a man who turned up with rotting, missing teeth and foul breath who had not shown his teeth on his profile. Thanks for sharing this. I am like you when dating, the only problem is I haven't so far found a man who matches up to my expectations. It's good to know you had a similar approach and it worked out for you. I do feel men of the past were much more likely to step up to the mark and be good, all rounded people who were capable and willing to have solid, loving relationships and create a life together. They want all of that without providing what those 1950s men provided, which was an income that the entire family could live on, as well as most likely a lot of household and DIY skills like carpentry, gardening, maintaining the house and not needing to hire workmen constantly etc. If I met a man like that I'd probably be happy to be a housewife albeit one who runs a small business from home. I don't know about the 'especially black women' bit because I'm white and I feel this 100%, I was just talking about this to several of my friends this week, about how it seems women are now meant to chase men, women are meant to compete for male attention, women are meant to bring not only looks, youth and health to a relationship but also skills, resources, a career, housing etc. It's quite frankly, exhausting and depressing. I'm not sure what you mean, that men don't find any women attractive unless we are supermodels? That just doesn't seem to be true at all, judging by how men will have sex with, date and marry a vast range of women. I personally think they are attracted to us in line with basic biology, but they put us down to try to lower our self esteem so that we don't leave them.

This has been my experience too. What's awful is how they are super interested at first (or pretend to be) then spend the relationship either making subtle or obvious digs at my appearance and other traits to slowly break down my self esteem. Exactly. His entire wish is for a situation that suits him and him alone and actually inconveniences the woman. He expects the woman to have sex with him straight away on the first date, but then has no plans to commit so she just becomes some woman he can have sex with when he wants with no commitment, and she's not allowed to have thoughts, preferences, opinions or needs. He seems to have a pathologically selfish mindset.

It annoys me how these misogynists have co-oped the red pill concept from the Matrix film. Red pill just means truth, but their ideology isn't about truth, it's about manipulating and psychologically abusing women into situationships that don't work for us at all. There is nothing red pilled about their behaviour, it should be called the Misogyny Pill instead.

After a very bad date a friend recommended ALWAYS having phone dates before going on any in person dates with a man. I started doing this last year and I ended up having about 9 phone dates and no in-person dates, because the phone call revealed none of them were suitable to date. One guy started instantly swearing as part of his every day language but he was also just kind of angry and bitter, another guy was way too feminine and neurotic, one guy disagreed with me on absolutely everything whil…

Wow that guy's comment is absolutely awful. He'd be better off dating a sex doll as it sounds like that's all he wants. I recently saw a documentary about how men from the Faroe Islands are going to the Philippines to find wives. At first I thought it was sweet because the documentary said it was due to lack of available women on the islands, but then when the men were interviewed it turned out they were really sexist and old fashioned and wanted wives from the Philippines 'because they cook and…

This is such a great comment and so true. Men's sexuality has caused a lot of problems for centuries. One of the reasons I'm single is because I'm very wary of getting involved with a man who then cheats on me. It's always troubled me that male cheating is often accepted and normalised by both sexes, and there seems to be this disturbing agreement amongst men that they can all cheat and cover for eachother. I remember male friends asking me why I'd left someone and when I said because they'd che…

That was my experience on a dating app whilst dating in my 30s. The vast majority of my messages were from single dads even though I don't have children myself. The man would have to be very special for me to consider dating him if he already has children. The truth is that every time I meet a man who already has kids, I can't help but think 'I waited for the right person, so why couldn't you?' The thought of being a step mother is not appealing, as they tend to get put last by the man after the…

Absolutely. I get toxic vibes from that place too. I remember creating a post there a few years ago and it was like I'd dropped food into a piranha tank, they viciously attacked a mother I mentioned in my post. I don't hate people who have children at all, I just don't have them myself. It would be good to have a non toxic childfree subreddit that wasn't about hating and attacking parents but more about navigating a world that is heavily tailored towards couples and families.

Yes I've definitely felt this as a single woman who doesn't have children. I didn't notice it when I was younger because I think people presumed I'd find someone as I got older, but after all my friends paired off and I was still single and going about my life on my own, I noticed a kind of hostility, a coldness a disdain and an unwelcoming vibe from people a lot more than when I'd been a young women with my family or a young woman with a group of friends. And also a confusion and and frown, oft…

It got depressing doing online dating with men much older than me trying to guilt trip me into dating them. They were usually in their 40s or 50s and divorced with kids, when I'm in my 30s, I've never married and have no children. Apparently it's too much to ask to meet a man who is also in his 30s, never married with no children. I'd rather be single than be guilt tripped into a relationship with someone I'm not keen on.

This is a very good tip. I was amazed when I did online dating at how fast the red flags would pile up just after short conversations.

Wow, in his 50s? I assumed he was about 21, due to the maturity level. This guy is awful, definitely block and delete and if he keeps harassing you then report him.

Thank you. It was overall a really troubling experience with him, because I felt instantly 'under his spell.' It was disturbing how he managed to kind of hook me in so fast. I felt like I was drugged up and was acting like an infatuated teenager, but thankfully my subconscious started to raise the alarm and sent me the dreams and I started to realise I was being played.

Thanks, I'm glad it helped. I'm amazed what I wrote resonated with people so much but I think it's because we've all had such similar experiences of men.

Thanks, these sound interesting. It's true from my experience of men too, sadly.

I definitely read it on here, and I think it was from a book written quite a while ago. I expect it's a fairly well acknowledged feminist concept by now so a lot of feminists will be agreeing on it.

I really noticed this online dating. A lot of men don't have good basic hygiene. Lots of them do smiles where they hide their teeth on their profiles, because they don't have well cared for teeth. I once took the risk of dating a man with a teeth-hiding profile and it was a horrifying date with a man who had foul, stinking breath and rotting and missing teeth! It was truly repulsive. He could have just gone to the dentist to get his teeth sorted out. Men often complain about women going after 't…

Yes, I agree with all of that. A lot of men and society in general still separates women into two groups - wives and 'whores.' They are happy for and in fact prefer their wives to be 'plain' because these are the women who bore and raise their children and do the housework. They want these women to mostly be silent, obedient, strong, healthy, non complaining, hard working, sex and domestic slaves. The other group of women are the ones they consider pretty/sexy, and they like to watch them, use t…

I experienced this with a male friend. I actually had feelings for him for years, but he had a long term girlfriend who he eventually married and I respected that and kept my distance. Then, his wife left him (she had been cheating on him and got pregnant with another man's baby). I genuinely felt very sad for him so we started chatting again. He seemed to pick up that I was fond of him and suggested we go out for a meal. It was all a bit weird, because I didn't know if he meant as friends or a …

I remember reading on since banned subreddit something like 'men aren't attracted to women, they are attracted to femininity.' I think it was part of a quote from a feminist writer. It really stood out to me because it seems pretty accurate. It's why a lot of these 'straight' men are happy to have sex with feminine men. The same writer I believe went on to theorise that a lot of men are actually homosexual because they actually prefer men in every way including respecting them, admiring them, se…

I've experienced this too. Fat, unkempt, very unattractive older men flirting with me, asking for my number etc. It started to make me question my own attractiveness, because I thought clearly I'm away out of these guy's league but was troubled by how these men thought they had a chance with me. But it turns out men like this creep onto lots of women and unfortunately they do often seem to wear some of them down who agree to dating them. The key is not being one of those women and sticking to yo…

"because most men will take and take and take from you until you are empty." This is very true sadly. Love that you're happily married now. I think this is very good advice. The good men aren't going to call us frigid etc, for not sleeping with them early on, they will respect us.

This sounds exciting, do report back and let us know how it goes! I have no lesbian specific advice as I am straight/sometimes bicurious (and occasionally envious of lesbians who get to avoid dating men) but overall I'd say just remember that you're a good person meeting another human to see if you have a connection. Maybe you'll connect as friends, maybe as more, just see how it goes and enjoy the experience. And if she's not very nice in person or you just don't click then it's another interes…

I started reading the handbook and the section that mentioned how players always have that grin is so true. This is something I noticed myself, after encountering a lot of these idiot players and noticing that they often have a disconcerting grin. The most recent example is a guy I know who lives nearby, who I met randomly last year. We instantly got on as we shared several hobbies, and I thought he seemed like a sweet guy at first. He kept suggesting we do these hobby related activities togethe…

It's true that unfortunately a lot of men have the logic that if a woman is online dating, it somehow makes her less worthy than random women they meet in the street, even though those same women in the street are also probably online dating. (It's interesting how they don't apply the same logic to themselves, ie it's fine if they date online but not ok for women to do it too). I know they often wrongly assume women online are shagging around, so trust us less on there and therefore respect us l…

Thank you, this actually helps a lot. Because I was starting to think it was specific to me and feeling pretty rubbish about myself. I definitely need to sort out a few things in my life to be my best self, but my friend (who is gorgeous and also has had a crappy time on dating apps) pointed out that even if we were amazingly perfect women, these men would still probably ghost and/or cheat on us because that's just what a lot of them seem to do these days.

I don't know what an mvp is and isn't Ron Swanson a bit old and fat? But I sure am into hot buff lumberjacks lol. I think it's the combination of great looks, masculinity without being an asshole, plus skills. I can't help being impressed by men who have awesome skills like carpentry etc, so attractive. Unfortunately it seems quite rare now, on the dating apps I had more manual labour skills than most of the men I met.

I don't have children and found most of the men who messaged me on dating apps already had children. It's like they thought that I looked like I'd be a good step mother for their many children. I got so annoyed by it I changed my profile to state that I was not interested in single fathers at all. It sounds harsh but I think, if I managed to avoid having children with the wrong person, then why couldn't you. Fair enough that some people have kids with someone they think is great who later turns …

Also, what's the deal with men on dating apps always starting the conversation in an over familiar way saying 'Hey AineoftheWoods' rather than hi or hello. I know this seems like a trivial matter, but it bugs me, because in my opinion 'hey' is not respectful for a woman a man has just met and wants to date. 'Hey' means 'Yeah I'm not too bothered about you, I'm not too attracted to you and I'm only half hearted, but you'll do for sex I suppose.' Whereas Hi/Hello usually mean that they are interes…

I recently stopped online dating because I noticed that after a year of being on there my depression was returning and I was starting to get super low. What surprised me was that my depression improved by about 40% a few days after I deleted the dating app. In the space of one week, I did some sewing, bought myself a drill and taught myself how to use it, rearranged my garden and started working on my business. Dating apps seem to drain my energy and make me very depressed, because I just can't …

A few years ago I started reading various dating coaches advice because I felt that I must have been doing something wrong the way I kept attracting the wrong men. I remember feeling awful for a while because I found most of the male dating coach's advice to be super depressing and toxic, it all had a 'basically you're too fussy, not hot enough, you've dated too many men, you've rejected to many men, just shut up and accept any man and be grateful' vibe. Evan MK was really bad for this kind of a…

I have a lot of hobbies and interests now and I find most men are disinterested in them, some make fun of them, and most don't share them. Some men definitely seem to see women having hobbies and interests as a negative. They preferred me when I was more of a mainstream 'city girl' who just used to mostly go to work and the gym and hadn't figured out what I liked.
